'I'm stressed, skint and now I'm dreading the long summer holidays'
Resident agony aunt Coleen Nolan has advice for a reader struggling to make ends meet and is worried about how to keep her children entertained while school's out I'm a married mum of two in my late 30s. We can't afford to go on holiday this year because, well, life has just become more and more unaffordable. I had my hours cut at work, while the cost of living seems to be going up all the time. We're relying mostly on my husband's salary, which is a stretch, so we've had to cut back on all but the essentials. I don't know what to do with my kids for the six weeks over summer. They finish school this week and I'm dreading it, which I know sounds awful, but my son and daughter both have ADHD, so it can be challenging. They don't have many friends and aren't often invited to parties and playdates, so it's a struggle and can feel very lonely at times – for them and for me. I haven't found that other mums are particularly empathetic, to be honest. They just seem to want to swerve any drama, which they assume my kids are likely to cause. If you have any ideas at all for how we can have a less stressful summer, I'd love to hear them. Coleen says At the risk of sounding ancient, my parents never took me and my siblings anywhere special in the school holidays. We didn't have money to burn and playdates weren't even a thing. However, I remember being happy and still having fun. I think these days, parents feel a lot of pressure to spend money to do things, but what children appreciate most is your time. The days when my mum took us to the park for a picnic or we did something fun with her at home are the days I remember the most. Also, it's good for kids to get a bit bored, so they're forced to use their imaginations to create fun or venture out. They don't need every minute scheduled. I remember one time when my boys were small and complaining of being bored, so I took them outside, marked up the path with a stone and showed them how to play hopscotch. They'd never heard of it and stayed outside playing it for about three hours! I don't think you should panic. It'll be nice to have slower mornings and be out of the school routine. If you're relaxed and the vibe at home is relaxed hopefully the kids will be too. It might help to sit down with a calendar and schedule a few affordable things for every week of the break – an afternoon tea at home, a swim, a treasure hunt, a paddling pool day in the garden and a trip to the cinema, for example. It doesn't have to be every day, but you'll have a few things to look forward to and a loose schedule. Rope your family in to help and don't be scared to reach out to other mums. You might find a couple of them are desperate for some ideas and company too.

Loose Women's Kelle Bryan storms into studio audience after being left 'fed up' by Jane Street-Porter as ITV debate takes outrageous turn
Loose Women 's Kelle Bryan stormed into the studio audience on Wednesday after being left 'fed up' by Jane Street-Porter as their debate took an outrageous turn. The most recent episode of the ITV show saw Janet, 78, Kelle, 50, Coleen Nolan, 60, and Brenda Edwards, 56, return to the studio. The Loose ladies got chatting about the latest newsworthy topics, including Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry 's recent split. This got them talking about getting over heartbreak, and Janet gave her very straight-talking opinion on the matter and said how she wouldn't mope around after a break-up. Kelle said: 'I'm clearly on the wrong panel today... if I get my heart broken it takes me a long time to recover. 'I'll be sad and down, it takes me a long time to let someone in in the first place. To trust somebody. 'It takes me a bit of time to say you're my person, but once I've made that decision, you're my person, you're in my world. 'If they let me down, hurt me, cheat on me, dump me, I'm devastated for a bit!' Janet piped up and asked: 'But Kelly, aren't you just cross you messed up and made the wrong decision?' A shocked Kelle said: 'Right. I'm off. I'm going to go and sit in the audience!' She then got the live audience members to move over so that she could take a seat. Kelle married Jay Gudgeon in 2010 and the pair share two kids together. The clash comes after MailOnline revealed that the show is expected to axe celebrity guests from the programme. According to insiders, once ITV's budget cuts come into effect in January, Loose Women will no longer have A-list guests in the studio, and the broadcast is planned to only consist of the panel debating newsworthy topics from the week. Now, TV sources have claimed that Loose Women is predicted to be completely cancelled within the year, as viewing figures are expected to drop once the show's quality is reduced. MailOnline revealed that the show will also axe their studio audience, an integral part to the programme, which caused upset among several members of the long-standing cast including Nadia Sawalha, Ruth Langsford and Coleen Nolan. In May, ITV announced that Lorraine and Loose Women will only air for 30 weeks a year rather than 52, resulting in more than 220 of 440 staff involved losing their jobs. A TV source revealed: 'Not having guests is a big blow for both the presenters and viewers at home. 'The guests are often one of the highest parts of the show, so it feels like a very strange decision to cut them altogether. Instead, the focus will be on guests for Lorraine and This Morning. 'Behind the scenes the presenters are really upset because they love having guests on and feel they offer a different type of interview to the other daytime shows. 'Firstly, there are four hosts conducting the conversation and secondly, they use their interviews to discuss female focused issues, something shows like This Morning don't do as often. 'In recent years, Loose Women have welcomed Elizabeth Hurley, Joan Collins and have down sit down one on one interviews with Janet Jackson and Naomi Campbell who all chose to do their chats with the show because they love it. 'It's a real shame that in January, the programme will become a shell of its former self before it is inevitably cancelled altogether.' An ITV spokesperson added: 'While the team is still working on the show for next year, we can assure you that Loose Women remains a big priority within our daytime slate. 'The stars of the show are the Loose Women and that's why they've received a BAFTA nomination, launched a podcast and celebrated a milestone anniversary in the last year alone.'

Coleen Nolan makes sad admission about 'not feeling sexy' and needing boyfriend
Loose Women legend Coleen Nolan has opened up about the sad reason she "doesn't feel sexy" when she is at home in the UK. Coleen Nolan has admitted that she doesn't feel "sexy" unless she is on holiday. The Loose Women favourite, 60, candidly spoke of her discomfort during the rising temperatures, and insisted that she couldn't stand the thought getting intimate with anyone after she had been looking after livestock on her farm amid the intense heat. During a discussion with fellow panellists Jane Moore and Judi Love and anchor Christine Lampard about feeling attractive in the heat on Monday's episode of the ITV chat show Coleen confessed: "On holiday, yeah but not here." She added: "This weekend, for instance, it was so hot and I stank of horses. I was sweating from places I didn't even know existed and then I thought if I had have a partner, he would have not a chance in hell because I'm too hot!" When former I'm A Celebrity star Jane pointed out out that, according to a psychologist, sunshine was what was needed to boost libido, Coleen quipped: "And a really good fan..." The innuendo prompted fits of laughter from the studio audience, before she clarified her joke by waving her hand in front of her face. Coleen, who split from Michael Jones in December 2024 - three years after they matched on Tinder - then claimed that she needed to "get a boyfriend" in order to fully understand the benefits that the effects the sunshine had to offer her. The I'm In The Mood For Dancing songstress, who recently enjoyed a holiday abroad and documented the trip for her Instagram followers, admitted that she and Michael "would rather just stay friends,", so they went their separate ways. After the split, Coleen said: "It's nothing to do with anyone else, it's nobody's fault. But I'm really busy and when I'm not really busy with work I'm busy on the farm and I feel personally that I can't give time to everything. We still get along great and hopefully we can continue to be friends, who knows?" While she's still officially single, Coleen said she'd "probably date again", but was waiting for the right time - and the right person to come along. "The men I meet are either married or gay, so I've no hope in the industry I'm in,' she exclusively told OK!. 'And I don't go out to bars, unless they're serving me a cup of tea.' With limited time for dating, Coleen didn't rule out signing up to a dating app to find her perfect match. 'Apparently, there's one that's aimed at country folk, called Muddy Matches, so that'll be the one I try when I'm up for it,' she said. 'But whoever I date, I'm not sure I want their toothbrush in my bathroom. I've been in relationships my whole life and I'm enjoying having my house to myself, not worrying about anyone else." Coleen, who was once married to EastEnders actor Shane Richie, followed by musician Ray Fensome, said she doesn't' necessarily miss "sex", but the odd bit physical affection would be welcome.

EXCLUSIVE Loose Women ready to AXE celebrity guests after ITV shake-up amid growing fears the show could be cancelled within a year
Loose Women are expected to axe celebrity guests from the show amid growing fears the ITV staple could be cancelled within a year. The long-running series usually welcomes a host of celebrities onto the panel to promote upcoming projects and have had the likes of Naomi Campbell, Elizabeth Hurley, Joan Collins, and even former Prime Minster Rishi Sunak appear. But according to insiders, once ITV 's budget cuts come into effect in January, Loose Women will no longer have A-list guests in the studio, and the broadcast is planned to only consist of the panel debating newsworthy topics from the week. Now, TV sources have claimed that Loose Women is predicted to be completely cancelled within the year, as viewing figures are expected to drop once the show's quality is reduced. It comes after MailOnline revealed that the show has axed their studio audience, an integral part to the programme, which caused upset among several members of the long-standing cast including Nadia Sawalha, Ruth Langsford and Coleen Nolan. In May, ITV announced that Lorraine and Loose Women will only air for 30 weeks a year rather than 52, resulting in more than 220 of 440 staff involved losing their jobs. A TV source revealed: 'Not having guests is a big blow for both the presenters and viewers at home. 'It's a real shame that in January, the programme will become a shell of its former self before it is inevitably cancelled altogether.' MailOnline understands that the reason for Loose Women axing celebrity guests is because there simply won't be enough manpower to host visitors and their decision has been to prioritise Lorraine and This Morning, so by default, the panel show will ultimately miss out. An ITV spokesperson added: 'The Loose Women team is still working on the show and its content for next year.' Former Prime Minster Rishi Sunak faced a gruelling from the Loose Women in May 2024 who probed on topics from sex education in schools to pensions and housing It comes after ITV announced dramatic budget cuts to their daytime schedule from halving Lorraine to 30 minutes and only airing the show during school term times to cutting Loose Women's output to 30 weeks a year. Under the plans, production of Good Morning Britain will be handled by a dedicated team at ITV News, which is made by ITN, the company that also holds the contracts to produce the news for Channel 4 and Channel 5. ITV Studios will continue to produce Lorraine, Loose Women and This Morning but is consulting on a plan to reduce the three separate teams to one, with the latter being prioritised in terms of their celebrity bookings. Loose Women panelist Nadia expressed her sadness over the show scrapping a live studio audience and as a result, her close friend and colleague, Lee Peart, who works as a warm-up artist, losing his job. She said: 'I am totally devastated by this fact, I can't get over it at all. Not only because the audience is so important for the show, but also my dear friend Lee who I work with every day.' Nadia also vocalised her feelings over the 'brutal' cuts to Loose Women as she explained how tough the May announcement had been for staff. She explained: 'This show has been highly successful for 25 years, more actually now, it is such a clear brand... 'The brutality of the world... what a lot of people don't realise is that we're self-employed, every contract is a new contract, I could be let go tomorrow or in five years, we're not employees. 'What's been absolutely brutal over the last week and honestly, I feel tearful about it is that hundreds of people are going to be made redundant out of the blue, these are people behind the scenes, that support us in every way. 'It's the way of the world, inflation is insane, cuts have to be made... a lot of my friends and colleagues on this show and at ITV have been there for decades, and I can't tell you how upsetting it was to see people walking around numb with shock and fear about what they were going to do.'
