Organisers are warning concertgoers to be mindful of the warm weather and to stay hydrated and use protection against the sun. Fire crews are also warning that barbeques, which require naked flames, should only be used with great care. It comes after wildfires spread across northern parts of Scotland during recent warm weather. Inspector Colin Cameron, of Police Scotland, said: 'Officers will be on high-visibility patrol throughout the summer, supported by our partners, and anyone engaging in anti-social behaviour, violence or criminal activity will be dealt with firmly and proportionately. 'We are clear that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated, and we will use every tool available to prevent it and take action when necessary. 'We understand that recent incidents involving serious violence among young people in other parts of Scotland have caused concern. Through Operation Ballaton, we will continue to focus our resources where they are most needed, working closely with partners to address any issues that arise and to ensure the public can feel confident and safe in this area. 'Young people are often among those who travel to the area in groups, particularly in warmer weather. While many behave responsibly, we know this is not always the case. 'We are asking parents and carers to take the time to speak to their children and young people about the risks of getting involved in disorder — and the very real consequences it can have for victims, communities and their own futures.' 🔥 An extreme wildfire warning is in place across Scotland from Friday, 11 July, until Monday, 14 dry conditions and sunny weather ahead, we're urging everyone to enjoy the outdoors safely and responsibly. Wildfire prevention info: — Scottish Fire and Rescue Service – Your Safety (@SFRSYourSafety) July 11, 2025 Inspector Victoria Graham, British Transport Police, added: 'Everyone has the right to visit to these beautiful parts of the country without fear of disruptive or criminal behaviour. We're proud to commit to this operation with our trusted partners once again, and our officers will be working to keep the public safe and deter any disorderly behaviour. 'We ask people to be respectful of staff and passengers travelling to enjoy the area during the good weather, and to be responsible with their alcohol consumption. Parents are also asked to keep track of where their kids are going and what they're up to. 'We want all visitors to enjoy themselves, but where there are instances of criminality, we encourage staff and passengers to report crimes or concerns to us, so we can take action. We have officers across the rail network, at stations and on trains, and crimes can be discreetly reported to us via text 61016, and in an emergency, always call 999.' Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Group commander Raymond King said: 'We are asking the public to exercise extreme caution and think twice before using anything involving a naked flame. 'Many rural and remote communities are hugely impacted by wildfires, which can cause significant damage. STV News Top hot spots on Saturday, July 12. 'Livestock, farmland, wildlife, protected woodland, and sites of special scientific interest can all be devastated by these fires, as can the lives of people living and working in rural communities. 'These fires can also have a hugely negative impact on the environment, and the release of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere.' Ahead of TRNSMT, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde urged music fans to stay safe by protecting themselves from the sun and staying hydrated. Dr Emilia Crichton, director of public health, said: 'This weekend is looking like a great time to get outside for warmer weather. 'No matter what you're doing, please enjoy the good weather safely by protecting yourself when in the sun, staying hydrated, and having common medicines to hand. 'We know tens of thousands of people will be heading to TRNSMT, and we hope everyone has a fantastic time. 'We ask festival-goers to look after themselves and others so everyone can enjoy the event safely.' STV News Top hot spots on Sunday, July 13. The Scottish Government is also raising awareness of the dangers of spiking as part of a coordinated effort to protect the public during the busy summer events season. Victims and community safety minister Siobhian Brown said: 'We are aware of the concern in spiking cases that the link between health professionals and Police Scotland has not always been clear to victims 'We are therefore introducing changes to the NHS system which will allow us to record those who present to A&E as potential victims of spiking. This will provide invaluable data on previous unrecorded incidents and will allow us to better understand the extent to which these lead on to formal police reporting. 'We remain committed to raising awareness of and addressing issues around spiking, and urge everyone to remain vigilant and stay safe as they enjoy the summer and festival period.' Scotland is on track to officially meet heatwave criteria this weekend for the first time this summer. Temperatures are forecast to hit 25C or higher for at least three consecutive days. This means many parts of the country will experience their warmest conditions of the year so far. With school holidays under way and events like TRNSMT, the Tiree Music Festival, and Orkney hosting the International Island Games, it's essential to take precautions if you're spending time outdoors. Use high-factor sunscreen, stay hydrated, and be mindful of the risk of heatstroke. Temperatures will reach the mid-20s on Friday across eastern areas such as Aberdeenshire, Fife, and Edinburgh. But Saturday is when there will be significant heat. It looks like Shawlands, Rutherglen, Govan, Crookston, Pollokshields and Aviemore might be some of the hottest spots this Saturday. You can expect temperatures to climb as high as 30C in Glasgow, Stirlingshire, Angus, and parts of the Highlands. Sunday is likely to be the hottest day of this spell, with a strong chance of hitting 30C — which would be the first time this year. Aviemore, North Ayrshire, South Lanarkshire, and the north Highlands are the most likely candidates to reach this mark. A slight dip in temperatures may occur along the east coast on Sunday due to a developing North Sea breeze, bringing a risk of haar to the northeast. Nights will remain uncomfortably warm, particularly in the west, where overnight lows could stay in the high teens through much of the night, making for difficult sleeping conditions. This weekend will also bring very high pollen counts and the highest UV levels of the year, just weeks after the summer solstice. Loch Lomond warning to revellers as temperatures set to soar across Scotland
Police Scotland and partners relaunched Operation Ballaton - a summer initiative aimed at keeping visitors and communities safe across Balloch, Loch Lomond and surrounding areas. Officers have issued a stern warning to anyone planning to cause disruption at Loch Lomond this summer. As temperatures are set to soar this weekend, Police Scotland alongside partner agencies have relaunched Operation Ballaton - a seasonal crackdown designed to protect visitors and local communities throughout Balloch, Loch Lomond and the wider region. The collaborative initiative is focused on combating antisocial conduct while maintaining a strong police presence across key locations during summer. Authorities made it clear disruptive behaviour will face zero tolerance and swift action, reports Glasgow Live. Inspector Colin Cameron from Police Scotland said: "Balloch and the surrounding areas attract large numbers of people during the summer months, and we are committed to making sure they remain safe, welcoming places for everyone. "Officers will be on high-visibility patrol throughout the summer, supported by our partners, and anyone engaging in anti-social behaviour, violence or criminal activity will be dealt with firmly and proportionately. "We are clear that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated, and we will use every tool available to prevent it and take action when necessary. "We understand that recent incidents involving serious violence among young people in other parts of Scotland have caused concern. "While reported incidents of violent crime remain at historically low levels, we are not complacent. Through Operation Ballaton, we will continue to focus our resources where they are most needed, working closely with partners to address any issues that arise and to ensure the public can feel confident and safe in this area. "Young people are often among those who travel to the area in groups, particularly in warmer weather. While many behave responsibly, we know this is not always the case. "We are asking parents and carers to take the time to speak to their children and young people about the risks of getting involved in disorder - and the very real consequences it can have for victims, communities and their own futures." Leigh Hamilton, Ranger Service Manager, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park Authority, added: "We welcome and fully support Police Scotland's Operation Ballaton this year, continuing our established partnership. "The operation's effectiveness comes from a multi-agency collaboration focused on maintaining public safety through coordinated action by all partners, including our National Park Rangers and emergency services. "Our shared objective is to ensure that everyone feels welcome and can enjoy the National Park this summer while doing so safely, responsibly, and respectfully. "Through coordinated communication and shared resources among partners on the ground, we are better positioned to deliver an effective, prevention-focused approach that targets known hotspot areas both on land and water in Balloch, Loch Lomond, and the surrounding areas this summer." Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Watch Commander Chris Spence also said: "We always work with our communities to explain the risks of fire, but it's important to stress that deliberate fire-setting is a crime and can have a serious impact on local communities. "People who set fires need to be aware that getting involved in this type of behaviour can have a big impact on your future. "Once you light that match, you have no control or way of knowing what happens next. "Not only are you risking damage to property and wildlife, you're putting yourself and others in danger. It's just not worth it." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. Depute Council Leader, Councillor David McBride said: "It is no wonder people choose to come to Balloch during the summer months with the stunning natural environment we have here. "We know the majority of visitors want to make the most of this beautiful area, but unfortunately there are some who are intent on engaging in anti-social behaviour. "Joined up working between partners happens all year round, but with the particular focus of Operation Ballaton, we can help to keep people safe and ensure Loch Lomond can be enjoyed by all." Public byelaws, such as the ban on drinking alcohol in public places, will be rigorously enforced. There will be patrols in key locations including Balloch Park, nearby train stations, Luss, and other areas that see a lot of visitors.

Colin Cameron made himself a hero amongst the Gorgie support by scoring the opening goal in the 1998 Scottish Cup final victory over Rangers. He stayed at Hearts for five years between 1996-2001 before a five year stretch at Wolves, where fans grew fond of the star capped by Scotland on several occasions during time at both clubs. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The former midfielder is also a Raith Rovers legend and since hanging up his boots, has managed Cowdenbeath and Berwick Rangers, turning a coach at Stark's Park since 2022. Now as the new season rolls into view under boss Barry Robson, Cameron has moved on. Colin Cameron leaves Raith Rovers A statement reads: 'Raith Rovers can confirm that Colin Cameron has left the Club. A Rovers legend both on and off the pitch, Micky returned to Stark's Park in October 2022 to join the backroom team as Assistant Manager. Micky's legacy at Raith Rovers is a proud one. After progressing through the youth ranks between 1988 and 1990, he made 168 first-team appearances and scored 42 goals during a six-year spell that saw him become a firm fan favourite. 'His unforgettable hat-trick against Kilmarnock in the run to the Coca-Cola Cup triumph of 1994 remains one of the Club's most iconic moments. Following his time in Kirkcaldy, Micky enjoyed a successful career with Hearts and Wolverhampton Wanderers, earning 28 Scotland caps, before spells at a number of clubs and a move into management with Cowdenbeath, Berwick Rangers, and Airdrieonians. 'Micky is a proud inductee of the RRFC Hall of Fame, and everyone at the club thanks him for his efforts over the past three years and wishes him all the very best in the next chapter of his coaching career.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Former Hearts star turns ex Jambo and Wolves man's replacement In his place comes Andy Kirk, who has recently left St Johnstone's coaching circle. Kirk was at Hearts as a striker between 1999-2004 then in multiple roles behind the scenes post-retirement, a coach and First Team Manager and Girls' Academy Manager of Hearts Women. A statement reads: 'Raith Rovers Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Andy Kirk as the Club's new Assistant Manager. As Barry Robson continues to build his squad, Andy was identified as a key figure he wanted to add to his backroom staff. The 45-year-old Northern Irishman arrives at Stark's Park with a wealth of experience both on the pitch and in the dugout. 'Most recently, Andy was part of the coaching team at St Johnstone, where he served as assistant to Craig Levein and briefly took charge as caretaker manager. As a player, Andy enjoyed a prolific career as a forward, with over 500 senior appearances and 171 goals to his name. He began at Glentoran, where he won the Irish League title and several cup honours, before a standout spell at Heart of Midlothian, scoring consistently in the Scottish top flight and earning 11 caps for Northern Ireland. 'He also had successful stints with Boston United, Northampton Town, Yeovil Town, Dunfermline Athletic and Alloa Athletic. Transitioning into coaching, Andy developed his skills within the youth systems at Rangers and Hearts, before moving into senior management with Hearts Women and later Brechin City, leading the latter to a Highland League title. Since then, his reputation for tactical knowledge, leadership, and player development has continued to grow. Everyone at Raith Rovers wishes Andy a warm welcome to Stark's Park and looks forward to seeing him in the dugout alongside Barry.'

Finlay Pollock picks out 'legend' as Hearts kid hails Raith Rovers loan
Finlay Pollock has hailed the influence of 'legend' Colin Cameron in his rapid development at Raith Rovers. The Hearts youngster moved to Stark's Park on loan in September and went on to score six times in 25 appearances for the Kirkcaldy club. However, his campaign was cut short by a serious hamstring injury sustained in the 1-0 victory over Ayr United in April and he returned to Tynecastle prematurely. It meant the on-form attacker missed the final four games of the season as Raith fell agonisingly short of landing a shot at promotion through the play-offs. Despite that bitter disappointment, Pollock looks back fondly on his spell across the Forth in Fife and has detailed the improvements it helped him make to his game. 'They definitely saw my pace,' he said of his time at Raith, where former Jambo Cameron is assistant-manager. 'That's one of my strengths and they saw that I could probably outrun centre-backs in the league, fairly comfortably. 'They always wanted me to stretch the game. They really wanted me to try and utilise my pace as much as possible against these defenders. '[Colin Cameron] let the rest of the team know that as well. That was sort of the main message for me to do that – and I got a lot of goals out of doing that as well. 'Obviously he [Cameron] is a bit of a legend here [at Hearts]. My whole family know that and my dad reminds me how lucky I was to be with him each day. 'But he taught me on the pitch as well. Even if it was after training when we'd go out for second sessions. 'He just showed me where to be, different positions to keep and to hold and when to run, when to stay, when to come short, when to go long – all these different things. 'That just helped me on the pitch and it just improved me as a whole.' In an interview with Hearts TV, Pollock added: 'I learned a lot. The Championship was very tight, it was very competitive, very physical. 'So, you've got to adapt when you're on the pitch and use different parts of your body to protect the ball and keep the ball. And learn when to go forward, when to come short, all different aspects like that. 'Just getting a run at games like that helps you to learn and understand.' With Pollock's season ended prematurely by injury, his focus has turned to next term and successfully completing his lengthy comeback. 'It's touch and go whether I make pre-season,' added the 20-year-old. 'Hopefully I can make sort of mid-July or the end of July. That's the aim, if all goes well, to try and get back for then. 'But I'll need to make sure I'm right before I come back.'

Aberdeen west end office hits the market for £1.5 million
A substantial Aberdeen office in the west end has found its way onto the market. The Albyn Place property was the north-east home of Suncor Energy UK, but is now looking for a new owner. The two-floor building is on the market with a price tag of £1.5 million. Every week we bring readers a selection of the most interesting properties for sale or rent. An Aberdeen Albyn Place office is up for grabs for £1.5 million and Ryden LLP is in charge of the property listing, which describes it as a modern open-plan office which extends to 10,500 sq ft. Two years ago, Suncor Energy sold all of its North Sea business in a deal with Equinor worth £700m. The deal would double Equinor's 40% stake in the Rosebank oilfield, as well as almost 30% ownership in the Buzzard oilfield. Now, its previous office, at 28b Albyn Place, is on the market. CBRE is also marketing the property, but for rental offers with price upon application. Ryden LLP said the property features a suspended ceiling, comfort cooling and LED lighting. It also has raised floors, a mix of cellular and open plan office space, meeting rooms and a reception. The property has 32 parking spaces to its front. The Bridge Bar in Aberdeen is back on the market, for £50,000 less than it was when listed six years ago. Renowned for being a last bastion of male chauvinism, it was one of the Granite City's last pubs strictly for men until the Sex Discrimination Act of 1975. Despite women being allowed throught its doors, The Bridge Bar operated well into the new age of equality without a ladies' toilet. Selling agent Ryden LLP said: 'The Bridge Bar is one of Aberdeen's most established public houses and is only available for sale due to the retirement of the owner, Mr Colin Cameron, after more than 20 years at the helm. 'The subject property comprises a compact, wet-led, traditional public house with a single bar servery, open plan drinking area with a section of fixed seating. 'The cellar and refrigerated beer and spirits store are located at basement level and are accessed from behind the bar servery.'
