FS1's Colin Cowherd Offers Absurd Micah Parsons 'Splash' Take

FS1's Colin Cowherd Offers Absurd Micah Parsons 'Splash' Take originally appeared on Athlon Sports. First it was Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will fire Brian Schottenheimer after one season, then it was Dallas would get humiliated every Sunday, and now FS1's Colin Cowherd is at it again. Advertisement This time, All-Pro Micah Parsons is in his crosshairs. And if we are being truthful here, this take is rather laughable. With Parsons looking at becoming the highest-paid non-quarterback in football, Cowherd made it clear that he wouldn't concern himself with paying No. 11. "Once again, I like Micah Parsons, but he is a bit of a splash player, and he was in college," Cowherd said. "He'll make highlight plays, he'll beat really bad corners. Boom or bust was great for Jerry Jones in the oil business, it's not great for pass rushers." Ok, that's enough. Firstly, "beats bad corners," Mr. Cowherd? Micah plays defensive end. When does he beat corners? We assume you mean tackles, so if you are going to insult Micah, at least do it properly. Dallas Cowboys defensive end Micah Parsons celebrates a sack against the Las Vegas Raiders at AT&T Miron-Imagn Images Secondly, is Micah a "splash" player? Advertisement We have seen all the quarterback pressure and quarterback hurry numbers throughout his career, and the consistent double teams to know that Parsons is anything but a "splash" player. And in college, Micah was an off-ball linebacker for Penn State, not a sack artist... so he really didn't "splash'' that way there. But if that wasn't bad enough, Colin gave his five players he would pay "whatever it takes," and Myles Garrett, Jared Verse, Maxx Crosby, Patrick Surtain II, and Chris Jones make his list. Garrett, Crosby, Surtain II, and Jones, we can understand given their high level of production, even if Micah has more sacks since 2021 than Maxx. But Verse? After one season, Cowherd would pay him over Micah? Advertisement Oh, stop it. Cowherd did say Parsons disappears in the playoffs, a criticism we get, but that doesn't diminish his overall value. Oh, and Colin also used Parsons' sacks against the New York Giants, Washington Commanders, and Carolina Panthers as a way to not pay him, stating he beats up the "little kids." What about the Philadelphia Eagles, Colin? In seven games, Micah has 5.0 sacks, eight quarterback hits, and six tackles for loss. That's passable, right? Seen as one of the best pass-rushers in football since he stepped onto the NFL field back in 2021, Micah is absolutely an edge rusher you pay. So the Cowboys are about to get "humiliated'' weekly. Advertisement And they should fire Schottenheimer. And they shouldn't pay Micah. Stop it, Mr. Cowherd, you're looking a bit silly now. Commanders' Jayden Daniels Gets Mind-Blowing Comparison From NFL Analyst

Commanders' Jayden Daniels Gets Mind-Blowing Comparison From NFL Analyst originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Washington Commanders' quarterback Jayden Daniels took the NFL by storm in his rookie season, leading his team to an NFC Championship game while winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Advertisement For some, Daniels is expected to continue his ascension into the upper echelon of quarterbacks in football, but a 12-5 season and NFC Championship appearance make it a tough thing to replicate. Still, fans and media alike are bullish on Daniels and the Commanders in 2025, and perhaps none more so than FS1's Colin Cowherd, who made a mind-blowing comparison when talking about Jayden. 'This kid is Lamar [Jackson] plus [Patrick] Mahomes,' Cowherd said. 'His poise in the fourth quarter doesn't make sense. And here's the thing, the NFL gives you an all-time quarterback legend about every six years, and I'm talking Peyton Manning, [John] Elway, Mahomes, [Brett] Favre. 'I'm telling you, he singularly won a road playoff game. And I thought Andrew Luck was the best quarterback I ever saw as a rookie.' Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels© Bill Streicher-Imagn Images Whew, right, Colin, that is quite the bar you have just set for Jayden. Advertisement We get it. Daniels showed everything you would want in a franchise quarterback in Year 1. He has the ability, first of all, as both a passer and runner, and then his intangibles late in games - he never seems to get flustered. But the Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes comparisons might be a little much, and let's not forget it has only been one year for Daniels in the league. Let's see what he produces in 2025 before making any definitive comments, but things in the nation's capital are going well right now, and Jayden is a big reason why. PFT's Mike Florio Starts Rumor Of Cowboys Coach Firing

PFT's Mike Florio Starts Rumor Of Cowboys Coach Firing originally appeared on Athlon Sports. FRISCO — The Dallas Cowboys are going to fire new head coach Brian Schottenheimer after this season, insists Fox Sports 1's Colin Cowherd, predicting that "America's Team'' will get "humiliated'' on a weekly basis, leading to owner Jerry Jones making for what would be for him an unprecedented move. Advertisement "Brian Schottenheimer is a one and done," Cowherd proclaimed, adding that he thinks this is his "least surprising prediction.'' "Jerry will know by Thanksgiving he made a huge mistake. Forget the fact that Philadelphia and Washington will probably blow them out in the division twice. 'One and done' happens all the time now. "I think Dallas is going to be humiliated on a lot of Sundays." As we have pointed out before ... Jones, for a variety of reasons and over 36 seasons, has never fired a head coach after one year. Chan Gailey was not an organizational favorite, but he got two years. Dave Campo was an organizational favorite — with two Super Bowl rings — but he lasted three years here while going 5-11 in each of those campaigns. Advertisement There is simply no precedent in Dallas upon which to base this prediction. But now Colin has company. Using reasoning we simply cannot grasp, Mike Florio has placed Schottenheimer on his five-man Coaches Hot Seat for 2025. ... and more, he oddly suggests that Schottenheimer might get dumped by Jerry after one year. Florio writes, "The key to knowing Schottenheimer's job security is to know whether and to what extent he has guaranteed money beyond 2025. ... Schottenheimer came cheaper. How cheap? So cheap that there would be no buyout if he's fired after one year? "If so, Schottenheimer could need to do enough in 2025 to earn his employment for 2026.'' Advertisement We don't get it. Why does Florio think Schottenheimer's contract (however affordable it might be) features no standard buyout guarantees after 2025? Why does Florio think that if Jones judged Schottenheimer's work in 2025 to be so abysmal that is merited dismissal that money would have anything to do with it? And most of all, why does Florio (along with Cowherd) think any of this "Schottenheimer will be fired'' reporting is based on any sort of logic? Cowboys' Jerry Jones Will Fire 'Schotty,' Claims Colin Cowherd in Surprise Prediction

Cowboys' Jerry Jones Will Fire 'Schotty,' Claims Colin Cowherd in Surprise Prediction originally appeared on Athlon Sports. FRISCO — The Dallas Cowboys have their naysayers, and coming off a 7-10 season tacked on to their infamous "30-year championship drought?" Advertisement Maybe "America's Team'' has fed those naysayers full of Dallas doubt. New head coach Brian Schottenheimer, of course, has very little to do with the Cowboys' many years of being "almost good enough,'' which is, I think, a fair characterization of this team's annual status. So — give it time — I say "Schotty'' has yet to earn the skepticism being shoveled out by the national media as it constructs its storylines and predictions for the upcoming 2025 season. ... But old friend Fox Sports 1's Colin Cowherd is nevertheless shoveling out a pair of doozies, one shovelful burying Dallas and the other shovelful burying its coach. Advertisement Cowherd is announcing his NFC bold predictions, and he has gone in double-hard on the Cowboys. He expects them to get humiliated ... and often. And he expects owner Jerry Jones to fire Schotteheimer after one season. Brace yourself ... "Brian Schottenheimer is a one and done," Cowherd said, adding that he thinks this is his "least surprising prediction.'' "Jerry will know by Thanksgiving he made a huge mistake. Forget the fact that Philadelphia and Washington will probably blow them out in the division twice. 'One and done' happens all the time now. "I think Dallas is going to be humiliated on a lot of Sundays." Advertisement Having been a guest on "The Herd'' more than a few times over the years, I've had the opportunity to experience "off-the-air'' and "pre-show'' Cowherd. So I can say that more than many in his chair, he takes doing his homework seriously. But these two views don't show that. To the two predictions ... One — Jerry Jones, for a variety of reasons and over 36 seasons, has never fired a head coach after one year. Additionally, by the way, Colin's assertion that "one-and-done'' NFL coach firings are some sort of a trend is way off. Said Colin: "We've got a lot of one and dones happening now, David Culley, Steve Wilks, Urban Meyer, Nathaniel Hackett, Antonio Pierce, Jerod Mayo. ... One and done happens all the time now.'' Wait a sec. Culley was fired by the Texans three years ago. Hackett was fired by the Broncos three years ago. Meyer was fired by the Jaguars four years ago. Wilks was fired by the Cardinals seven years ago. In the last 10 years, there have been around 75 different men hired to be NFL head coaches. And Cowherd is citing the firing of five of them as a trend that's "happening all the time now?" Advertisement Based simply on the data, he's dead wrong. Now to the numbers as they relate to the Cowboys getting "humiliated'' on the scoreboard on some sort of regular basis in 2025, with a focus on Washington and Philly. ... and let's go back a decade again. In the Dak Prescott era, he's 11-2 vs. Washington. And he's 9-4 vs. Philadelphia. So not only does Dallas not get blown out and "humiliated'' by those two NFC East rivals; Dallas usually wins those games. Even last year, the 7-10 Cowboys didn't get blown out by the Commanders. They beat them in Week 12, Dallas winning 34-26, and they lost at the buzzer in Week 18 against third-string scrub QB Trey Lance in a 23-19 loss. Advertisement As for the Eagles and their Dak history as it relates to blowouts? It's really happened just once, a 37-9 loss in 2017. Once. In a decade. That 9-4 lifetime record against Philly is a number most "casual'' Cowboys fans know. I say respectfully that Colin should also have it memorized. So, the Cowboys getting blown out by both Washington and Philadelphia (all four times?!) in 2025? There is no evidence there. And the Cowboys firing Brian Schottenheimer in one-and-done fashion? There is no evidence there, either. I say it a lot around here, to our 75-member staff and to you: "We're all entitled to our opinions, but opinions without facts are worthless.'' Advertisement And ... so here we are. Naysayers' eye-catching opinions ... in conflict with hard Cowboys facts. Related: 'We're Going To Win!' Colin Cowherd Announces Outlandish Cowboys 'Humiliated' Prediction

Colin Cowherd Announces Outlandish Cowboys 'Humiliated' Prediction originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There are many detractors of the 2025 Dallas Cowboys with the hiring of Brian Schottenheimer as head coach, and we can add FS1's Colin Cowherd to the list. Advertisement With the Cowboys undergoing significant changes both on and off the field this offseason, it will be a new-look Dallas team, but some aren't sold. In fact, when it comes to Cowherd and his NFC bold predictions, he has gone in hard on the Cowboys. He expects them to get humiliated ... and often. "Brian Schottenheimer is a one-and-done," Cowherd said. "Jerry will know by Thanksgiving he made a huge mistake. Forget the fact that Philadelphia and Washington will probably blow them out in the division twice. 'One and done' happens all the time now. "I think Dallas is going to be humiliated on a lot of Sundays." OK. There are a couple of things that we take issue with here. Advertisement Jerry has never fired a head coach after one season. Even Chan Gailey and Dave Campo both got multiple seasons. That's that. Plus, the Cowboys didn't get blown out by the Commanders last season when they were ravaged by injury and had the "Blow It Up" concept in full flow, and beat them in Week 12, Dallas winning 34-26. And then Washington needed a last-second touchdown in Week 18 against third-string scrub QB Trey Lance to win, 23-19. As for the Eagles, last year, yes, they blew Dallas out both times, but that was with Cooper Rush. When Dak Prescott plays, he rarely gets blown out by Philadelphia. Advertisement In fact, it's really happened just once, a 37-9 loss in 2017, with a 27-13 loss in 2016, his other "biggest" loss. Otherwise, Dak wins against the Eagles - he's got a 9-4 lifetime record against Philly - but you knew that already. ... Even if Colin doesn't. So, the Cowboys getting blown out by both Washington and Philadelphia? There is no evidence there ... so we don't see happening, not as long as Dak is healthy. Will Dallas get humiliated regularly in 2025? We can envision losses, but we struggle to see it. And we're not sure what Cowherd is looking at on the way to drawing this outlandish conclusion.
