Cyclist killed in collision with dump truck in Calgary's southwest
A man in his 60s has died after being hit by a dump truck in the city's southwest Friday morning. Police say he was riding his bike in a bike lane at the intersection of 26 Avenue and 32 Street S.W. when the truck, turning right onto 32 Street, hit him with the front passenger side of the vehicle. 'The cyclist unfortunately ended up underneath the trailer,' says Acting Sgt. Dan Jordens with the Calgary Police Service. The driver of the truck remained on scene and made a statement to police as part of the investigation. The intersection was closed for much of Friday as the Collision Reconstruction Unit conducted its investigation to determine what led to the collision. 'What we do have in our benefit at the moment is good video that we've confirmed exists… which we'll be receiving tomorrow,' says Jordens. Story continues below advertisement 'We'll get a better idea of what actually happened and from there the investigation continues with our reconstruction.' Jordens says at this time, the collision is considered an unfortunate accident, and alcohol, drugs and speed are not considered to be factors. So far, no charges have been laid. 'Once our investigation is completed, we'll definitely do a consultation with the crown and see where that leads us,' says Jordens.

Police yet to rule out speed, impairment in Upper Centennial crash that killed two
Hamilton police haven't yet ruled out speed or impairment as factors in an overnight weekend crash that left two people dead. A 2014 Ford F-150 and a Chevrolet Silverado were travelling in the same direction on Upper Centennial Parkway, between Mud Street East and Green Mountain Road, when the F-150 collided with the Silverado just after midnight Sunday. Police said the Ford pickup then hit a northbound 2015 Kia Sorento head-on. The driver and passenger in the Sorento were pronounced dead at the scene, according to police, while the driver of the F-150 was taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The Silverado driver wasn't injured. Police on Monday offered little details about the crash, but said the victims have been identified. Police closed the roadway for at least seven hours Sunday morning between between Mud Street Still unclear is what led the F-150 to collide with the Silverado. Both trucks were travelling southbound. 'Investigators have not ruled out impairment or speed as factors in the collision,' said police spokesperson Jackie Penman. Two people dead in Upper Centennial Parkway crash
Two people are dead after an overnight three-vehicle collision on Upper Centennial Parkway between Mud Street East and Green Mountain Road. The crash happened just after midnight Sunday, according to Hamilton Police. A 2014 F-150 pick-up truck and a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up were southbound on Upper Centennial when the F-150 collided with the Silverado then hit a northbound 2015 Kia Sorento head-on. The driver and passenger in the Sorento were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the F-150 was taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The Silverado driver was not injured. The scene was closed for 10 hours as the Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated, according to police. Investigators are asking witnesses to come forward. Motorists are asked to check their dash cameras for video of the crash and residences or businesses in the area are requested to check surveillance cameras for video of the incident. Man killed, woman critically hurt in Montgomery County collision
GAITHERSBURG, Md. () — Montgomery County officials are investigating a fatal collision that happened overnight in Gaithersburg. Just minutes after midnight on April 6, a black Ford Mustang crashed into a tree in the 300 block of Travis Avenue, the Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) said. First responders pronounced the man who was driving dead at the scene. Two men seriously hurt in Montgomery County shooting A woman who was sitting in the passenger seat was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Owings Mills woman dies after collision with tree
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. () — Police on Wednesday identified the woman killed in a collision late Monday night in Montgomery County. Shortly before 11 p.m., the Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) responded to the intersection of Ashton Road and New Hampshire Avenue There, they found 51-year-old Melissa Thomas of Owings Mills had lost control of her vehicle, struck a curb, left the roadway and then collided with a tree.
