Actress known for her role in a hit supernatural TV show from the 90s emerges in NYC... can you guess who?

An actress who is known for her iconic role in a supernatural horror TV series from the 1990s was spotted enjoying a rare outing in New York City this week. The star also had the chance to portray the same character in a sequel series to the hit show, which famously premiered on The WB in 1997. She kicked off her successful career in the entertainment industry in the 90s when she appeared in an episode of Baywatch. Over the years, the Hollywood actress has worked alongside a number of celebrities such as Sylvester Stallone, Kristen Bell and Jason Statham. Along with a thriving television career, the star has also jumped onto the big screen for a variety of film projects as well. Can you guess who it is? It is Charisma Carpenter from Buffy The Vampire Slayer. The 55-year-old actress played the character of Cordelia Chase in Buffy The Vampire Slayer for three seasons before taking on the same role in the spinoff series Angel. She was spotted on a rare outing in NYC on Thursday as she took a summer stroll in the East Village. Carpenter - who celebrated her birthday on Wednesday - was stylishly casual in a short-sleeved, printed shirt as well as a pair of loose-fitting denim jeans. She additionally slipped into a pair of comfy sneakers and draped a blue leash over her arm while walking her adorable dog. Charisma's long brunette locks were parted to the side and effortlessly flowed down past her shoulders in light waves. The star completed the ensemble by sporting a pair of fashionable brown shades as she held a conversation on the phone. Carpenter's latest outing comes not long after she opened up about the Buffy The Vampire Slayer sequel series that is currently in development at Hulu. She was spotted on a rare outing in NYC on Thursday as she took a summer stroll in the East Village Carpenter - who celebrated her birthday on Wednesday - was stylishly casual in a short-sleeved, printed shirt as well as a pair of loose-fitting denim jeans Sarah Michelle Gellar - who played the titular character in the original show - is slated to reprise the role in the upcoming project. Back in February, it was reported that a pilot has officially been ordered by Hulu with Chloe Zhao set to direct, per Deadline. Earlier this month, Carpenter opened up about her hopes that her character could also be seen once again in the spinoff series. During an interview with IGN, the star expressed: 'I am so excited for fans, and I know it will be fantastic because of who's involved. 'To see this actually happen for the fans makes me thrilled. I am so hopeful to be included, for Cordelia to be a part of this new iteration.' Charisma played Cordelia Chase in the original Buffy The Vampire Slayer series for three seasons. She went on to portray the same character in the spinoff series Angel - which also starred David Boreanaz. However, after the fourth season, her character had been killed off and the actress later claimed that the show's creator Joss Whedon - who was also behind Buffy - had done so because she had a baby. In 2021, she also accused Whedon of creating a 'toxic' work environment and 'abusing his power.' She released a lengthy statement on X (formerly Twitter at the time) in solidarity with actor Ray Fisher - who had previously accused Whedon of 'abuse' and 'unacceptable behavior' while on the set of Justice League in 2017. During her conversation with IGN, Charisma talked about her character's death in Angel and how she could potentially reprise the role in the reboot series. 'I don't know really what to make of it,' she explained. 'I'm sure there are caveats - Cordelia died on Angel not on Buffy. 'I don't know what that means for Cordelia specifically - but I'm hopeful that it includes Cordelia obviously, it would be a dream to be included, and it would just be so poetic for that to occur, and for it to occur with this group.' When the outlet commented that she should return to the world of Buffy, Carpenter said, 'Listen, you're not gonna get an argument out of me. 'Because the way it went down for her was just - without using inflammatory language - just was not... she was built up so big, she'd grown so much, she'd had this remarkable journey, and for her to go out the way that she did just felt so unjust.' She later gave credit to the character of Cordelia and stated that playing the role also changed her as a person. 'I'm 1,000% who I am today because of that character. I used to be a lot more demure, a lot more of a people-pleaser, a lot less outspoken, a lot smaller. Cordelia has informed who I am in a very big way. 'She brought out, in me, a side I didn't know existed, but that's what happens when you play a character for nearly 10 years,' the star added. Carpenter kicked off her professional acting career in 1994 when she appeared in one episode of Baywatch. Three years later she was cast in Buffy and later the spinoff series Angel until her exit from the show in 2003. She went on to take in smaller roles in other shows including Charmed and Veronica Mars. Charisma later jumped onto the big screen in the movie The Expendables (2010) and the sequel two years later. The actress was previously married to Damian Hardy from 2002 until their divorce was finalized in 2008. The former couple welcomed a son during the course of their marriage - and he will occasionally appear on Carpenter's Instagram account.

Charisma Carpenter Says It Would Be 'Poetic' to Return as Cordelia in BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER Reboot — GeekTyrant

Charisma Carpenter is ready to stake her claim in the upcoming Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival, if given the chance. In a recent interview with IGN, the actress expressed a genuine desire to return as Cordelia Chase in Hulu's in-development Buffy sequel series. For Carpenter, it's not just about nostalgia; it's about closure. She said: 'I am so excited for fans, and I know it will be fantastic because of who's involved. To see this actually happen for the fans makes me thrilled. I am so hopeful to be included, for Cordelia to be a part of this new iteration.' Cordelia was a central character across both Buffy and its spinoff Angel , undergoing one of the more dramatic character evolutions in the Buffyverse. From popular high school queen bee to higher-plane vision warrior, her arc was one of the richest… until it wasn't. Carpenter didn't hold back when discussing how Cordelia's story ended. 'Listen, you're not gonna get an argument out of me. Because the way it went down for her was just — without using inflammatory language — just was not… she was built up so big, she'd grown so much, she'd had this remarkable journey, and for her to go out the way that she did just felt so unjust.' Cordelia's death in Angel Season 5 was abrupt and controversial, especially for fans who had followed her through all that growth. She added: 'I don't know really what to make of it. I'm sure there are caveats — Cordelia died on Angel, not on Buffy. I don't know what that means for Cordelia specifically — but I'm hopeful that it includes Cordelia obviously, it would be a dream to be included, and it would just be so poetic for that to occur, and for it to occur with this group.' Death has never been a permanent condition in the Buffy universe. Buffy herself died (twice!) and came back. Carpenter pointed that out too: 'Writers are wildly creative,' she said, hinting that resurrection is just a plot twist away. The new Buffy reboot is being spearheaded by Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao, who's directing the pilot written by Poker Face duo Nora and Lilla Zuckerman. Even Sarah Michelle Gellar, who isn't confirmed to return as Buffy, expressed her excitement for the new series and the potential return of familiar faces. 'It will be lighter than the last few seasons of the original. We will try to find a balance between new and old characters. My dream is to bring back everyone who has died, but space will have to be made for new stories as well.' If Gellar gets her wish, and if Carpenter's dream becomes reality, Cordelia's story might not be over after all.

Buffy Reboot: Charisma Carpenter Hopeful for ‘Poetic' Return After Character's ‘Unjust' End in Spinoff

Despite Cordelia Chase's unfortunate demise in the Buffy spinoff Angel, Charisma Carpenter is game to revive the character in the upcoming Buffy reboot. In June, Sarah Michelle Gellar said her 'dream is to bring back everyone who has died' in Hulu's forthcoming Buffy series. Speaking with IGN, Carpenter threw Cordy's hat into the ring, saying that her return to the series would be 'poetic' after the character's 'unjust' end in Angel's final season. 'To see this actually happen for the fans makes me thrilled. I am so hopeful to be included, for Cordelia to be a part of this new iteration.' Carpenter was a series regular on Buffy through Season 3. She then crossed over to Angel, but after several seasons, she was written out, only to be killed in a one-off guest-spot in Season 5. 'I don't know really what to make of it,' Carpenter told the publication, in reference to her character now being eligible for a comeback. 'I'm sure there are caveats — Cordelia died on Angel, not on Buffy,' she said. 'I don't know what that means for Cordelia specifically, but I'm hopeful that it includes Cordelia, obviously. It would be a dream to be included, and it would just be so poetic for that to occur, and for it to occur with this group. 'These writers are wildly creative, I'm sure they could figure it out if they wanted to, if it was a fan thing, where if there was a thirst or craving or need for Cordelia to be there. I'm sure with one hell of a creative team they have leading the writers' room, it would be possible.' Buffy's 20 Best Episodes, Ranked! View List Carpenter added: '[Cordelia] was built up so big, she'd grown so much, she'd had this remarkable journey, and for her to go out the way that she did just felt so unjust.' The actress previously returned to the franchise in an Audible spinoff series titled Slayers that starred Carpenter as an alternate universe version of her character, one in which Cordelia was a vampire slayer. That audio-only series reunited the actress with other Buffy alums including Emma Caulfield Ford (Anya), Amber Benson (Tara), Anthony Head (Giles), James Marsters (Spike) and Juliet Landau (Drusilla), but it was cancelled after just one season. Ahead of Slayers' release, Carpenter spoke to TVLine about the injustices Cordelia had faced and how her fate was not at all what the actress had wanted. 'The way that things ended for her was absolutely not what I wanted for that character that I had played, and all the blood, sweat and tears that went into her,' she said. 'And also the life that I personally was living and sacrificing for. To bring this character to life and to have it go the way that it did was like a part of me died. And so to be able to bring this about in this way was the ultimate justice for Cordelia.' The Buffy follow-up was officially announced back in February with Nora Zuckerman and Lilla Zuckerman (Poker Face) attached as writers, showrunners and executive producers. Zhao is attached to direct and executive-produce, with additional EPs including Gellar, Gail Berman, Fran Kuzui, Kaz Kuzui and Dolly Parton. (Berman, the Kuzuis and Parton all executive-produced the original series.) Gellar will reprise her former role in a recurring capacity rather than a leading one. In May, Ryan Kiera Armstrong was announced as the series' new slayer. For more of Carpenter's thoughts on both Buffy and Angel, fans can check out her new Patreon podcast, The Bitch Is Back.
