Brie Larson to Star in FX Limited Series "Cry Wolf"
Yara Sameh Brie Larson is set to star alongside Olivia Colman in the limited series 'Cry Wolf,' which has officially been greenlit at FX. The show was first reported to be in the works in February with Colman attached in one of the lead roles. Sarah Treem serves as writer, executive producer and showrunner, with both Larson and Colman executive producing in addition to starring. The series is described as psychological family thriller following 'a social worker (Colman) and a mother (Larson) thrust into crisis when the mother's teenage daughter alleges abuse, pushing both women to their limits as they navigate an impossible situation.' 'Cry Wolf' is inspired by the Danish TV series 'Ulven Kommer' created by Maja Jul Larsen. Treem, Colman and Ed Sinclair of South of the River, and Melissa Bernstein of Special Interests brought the project to FX. All are executive producing along with Larsen, Christian Rank, and Claudia Saganario on behalf of DR Sales, the format arm of DR for which the original Danish series was produced. FX Productions is the studio. The role keeps Colman in business with FX, as the highly-celebrated actress has popped up in multiple episodes of the network's hit dramedy 'The Bear.' She also played Miss Havisham in FX's limited series adaptation of 'Great Expectations' in 2023. Her other TV credits include 'The Crown,' 'Fleabag,' 'Broadchurch,' 'The Night Manager,' and 'Heartstopper.' Larson broke out in 2015 with her starring role in the film 'Room,' for which she won an Academy Award, Golden Globe, BAFTA, and numerous other accolades. She has since gone on to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the role of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, having appeared in four films as the character to date. Her other credits include 'Short Term 12,' 'Trainwreck,' 'Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,' and 'The Glass Castle.' Casting News: Olivia Colman and Brie Larson's FX Drama, Jax Taylor Exits The Valley and More
Two of The Bear's most notable guest stars are set to unite in a new FX drama. Academy Award winners Olivia Colman and Brie Larson will star in Cry Wolf, a limited series penned by The Affair creator Sarah Treem, Variety reports. A-ha frontman Morten Harket has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, he revealed in an article published on the band's website Wednesday. The 'Take On Me' singer told biographer Jan Omdahl that he underwent a procedure for deep brain stimulation (DBS) in June 2024, addressing the left side of his brain, and a similar one in December for the right. Parkinson's causes parts of one's brain to deteriorate and affects muscle control, balance and movement, as well as thinking ability and mental health, according to the Cleveland Clinic. 'The simple fact that, on good days, Morten shows virtually no sign of many of the most familiar physical symptoms of Parkinson's, doesn't mean that he is well,' wrote Omdahl, who penned the Norwegian band's 2003 biography, 'The Swing of Things.' Omdahl recounted Harket's 'round-the-clock effort to balance medication, signals from the electrodes in his brain, sleep, blood sugar and mindset in a way that keeps the symptoms and side effects more or less in check,' though it 'isn't always successful.' Harket said he doesn't 'expect to be able to achieve full technical control' of his voice anymore, even as he works on unreleased music. 'The question is whether I can express myself with my voice,' he told Omdahl. 'As things stand now, that's out of the question.' Harket, however, told fans not to worry and instead 'spend your energy and effort addressing real problems, and know that I am being taken care of.' A-ha — a synth-pop trio whose members also include Magne Furuholmen and Paul Waaktaar-Savoy — is best known for their 1980s hits 'Take On Me,' 'Cry Wolf' and 'The Sun Always Shines on TV.' The band split in 2009 but briefly reunited in 2015.
