Ozzy Osbourne prepares for final farewell as bands pay tribute to Diogo Jota
Ozzy Osbourne is preparing to head on stage as the Prince of Darkness for one final time this evening. The rock icon will be joining his fellow Black Sabbath bandmates at Villa Park in one of the most epic farewell shows in music history. He will grace the stage alongside Bill Ward, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler as well as the world's best heavy metal bands for the mega show. It marks a very rare appearance for Ozzy, who first retired from live singing in 2023 because of his numerous surgeries and his Parkinson's Disease. However, it didn't put off his desire to get back on stage for his thousands of fans. 'As you may all know, four years ago, this month, I had a major accident, where I damaged my spine,' he said on social media. 'My one and only purpose during this time has been to get back on stage. My singing voice is fine. However, after three operations, stem cell treatments, endless physical therapy sessions, and most recently, groundbreaking Cybernics (HAL) Treatment, my body is still physically weak.' The Back To The Beginning supershow will include sets from Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Slayer, Tool, Gojira, Anthrax, Lamb Of God, Halestorm, Mastodon and Rival Sons. An all-star super-group will be playing, with The Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan, Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello, Megadeth's David Ellefson, and Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst taking to the stage. Follow along for the latest updates as the Prince of Darkness hangs up his crown once and for all... Yungblud's guitarist has paid tribute to footballer Diogo Jota by wearing a number 20 Liverpool shirt on stage. In a touching moment, the guitarist showed the number 20 shirt, which Jota wore. The Premier League footballer and his younger brother Andre Silva both died in a devastating car crash near Zamora close to Spain's north-west border with Portugal. The tragic incident occurred just days after Jota's marriage to his childhood sweetheart, Rute Cardoso - who had to identify her husband and his brother after the crash. Black Sabbath fans from around the world managed to secure tickets for the sell-out show in Birmingham to bid farewell to Ozzy. A Brazilian fan travelled in from Stockholm to be part of the historic gig and told the Mirror: "We flew here to see Black Sabbath. Sabbath and Ozzy is my favourite. It was my first concert in my life so have the nostalgia feeling." Another woman, who is from Estonia and now living in Chesterfield, added: "I saw Ozzy 10 years ago for the first time at Hellfest in France. It's the first time for my mum. Can't wait to have a blast."

Ozzy Osbourne's 'made it' message as Black Sabbath prepare for final show
Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne and a host of megastars are gearing up for a supershow on Saturday Ozzy Osbourne beamed for the camera as he posed for a powerful snap ahead of the Black Sabbath concert at Villa Park on July 5. In a collaboration post between Aston Villa Football Club and Ozzy, the Prince of Darkness posed with a host of rock and metal stars ahead of the superconcert. The musician, Bill Ward, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler will be joined by the world's best heavy metal bands for the July 5 show before Ozzy retires from performing. The caption of the Instagram post read: "'It's taken us 57 years to get to the Villa, we made it. Back to the Beginning' - Ozzy Osbourne." Black Sabbath performed a farewell tour from 2016 to 2017, with all the founding members minus Bill going on tour. Last year, Ozzy took to his The Madhouse Chronicles podcast to admit the band's career felt "unfinished" as they didn't tour with Bill. He wanted a proper original lineup reunion, with all the band members sharing their interest in the idea. The huge comeback was finally revealed in the Back To The Beginning's announcement earlier this year. Ozzy first retired from live singing in 2023 because of his numerous surgeries and his Parkinson's Disease. 'As you may all know, four years ago, this month, I had a major accident, where I damaged my spine,' he said on social media. 'My one and only purpose during this time has been to get back on stage. 'My singing voice is fine. However, after three operations, stem cell treatments, endless physical therapy sessions, and most recently, groundbreaking Cybernics (HAL) Treatment, my body is still physically weak.' Along with Black Sabbath, the Back To The Beginning supershow will include sets from Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Slayer, Tool, Gojira, Anthrax, Lamb Of God, Halestorm, Mastodon and Rival Sons. An all-star super-group will be playing, with The Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan, Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello, Megadeth's David Ellefson, and Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst taking to the stage. The event will be hosted and compered by Game Of Thrones icon Jason Momoa. Sharon Osbourne recently said of the show: "Then you're going to see one icon playing with another icon, doing a Sabbath song and one or two of their own songs, and people playing with each other that you never you'd see. "Tom Morello is going to play with the drummer from Tool and they're going to have Billy Corgan with them. Then you'll see Slash and Duff and whoever they choose to play with. "David Draiman is going to come up and sing, Jonathan from Korn is going to be here and he could be playing with Chad Smith or whoever!'

Ozzy Osbourne to reunite with Black Sabbath for farewell concert
Ozzy Osbourne has announced that the original members of Black Sabbath will play a concert together for the first time in 20 years. In a post on X, Osbourne revealed that he would reunite with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward to play one final show at Villa Park in Birmingham, England on July 5. 'It's my time to go Back to the Beginning… time for me to give back to the place where I was born,' said Osbourne. 'How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.' Osbourne will play his own short set in the multi-artist show before joining with the band for his 'final bow,' the announcement said. Other musicians performing at 'Back to the Beginning' include Metallica, Slayer, Lamb of God, Alice in Chains and Anthrax. 'This will be the greatest heavy metal show ever,' the post quoted the concert's music director, Tom Morello, as saying. Formed in Birmingham in 1968, Black Sabbath went on to become one of the most successful metal bands of all time, selling more than 75 million albums worldwide, according to Osbourne's post. Back in 2022, he surprised attendees at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games with a mini Black Sabbath reunion, rocking out on stage with Iommi. Though Osbourne had a farewell tour set to begin in 2023, he was forced to cancel the shows due to poor health. 'My singing voice is fine. However, after three operations, stem cell treatments, endless physical therapy, and most recently groundbreaking Cybernics (HAL) Treatment, my body is still physically weak,' he said in a statement at the time. Osbourne, 76, later told Rolling Stone that he would 'die a happy man' if he could perform in one more show to express his gratitude to fans from the stage. His wife, Sharon Osbourne, hinted at the upcoming concert in an interview with Rolling Stone last year, telling the magazine that Osbourne was ready to give his fans a sendoff in his hometown. Tickets for the concert go on sale February 14, with profits going to various charities.
