Oman Cricket season begins

Domestic cricket is one of the key pillars which showcases the depth of cricket in Oman and the recent rise of Oman Cricket (OC) at the international level has a lot to do with the versatile competition and robust structure of domestic cricket in the league. Following the summer break, Oman Cricket is set to get the ball rolling with the 2025-26 season set to resume from August 15 for Premier Division with the exciting Oman D20 and September 5 for other senior teams. OC has begun the process of teams' registration for the new season and the doors opened for registration this weekend. Interested teams may register before or by August 3 for all divisions and the last date of players' registration is August 10. For the registration, teams can do it online on > registrations or contact Zeeshan Siddique (+968 92204745) for any related queries. OC Chief Development Officer (CDO) Duleep Mendis hopes for an exciting season and said: 'We have seen an improvement in the quality of cricket being played in the domestic cricket leagues. We have seen great progress from the domestic teams to rise through the ranks. Furthermore, we have been able to pick a few new players in the national teams based on their performance in the domestic league. We hope to have another entertaining season with intense and closely fought matches.' Last season, Oman Cricket witnessed the participation of a total of 60+ teams across all divisions, beginning from the Premier to the lowest I division. Mendis, in excitement of noticing the surge in playing the sport in the country, said 'We expect enthusiasm to reflect in the seasons registrations this season as Oman has been one of the forefronts in terms of teams performance at International level and with our development initiatives gathering more interest, we hope to have more participation.' Mendis thanked the sponsors for their strong support to domestic cricket as 'without the support of corporates and business houses we would not be able to promote the way we are doing now.' Oman Cricket currently has opened the registrations for the Senior Cricket Season and will open the registration for junior cricket and women's cricket in due course shortly.

Black Forest Fire case remains active 12 years later

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — June 11 marks 12 years since the deadly Black Forest Fire burned more than 14,000 acres and destroyed 489 homes. On Tuesday, June 11, 2013, the fire broke out and burned for days until it was declared fully contained on Thursday evening, June 20. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO) has stated in the past that the Black Forest Fire was a 'cold case' due to the passage of time, with no new information. While the origin of the fire is known, the cause has not been determined. FOX21 News reached out to EPSO on the eve of the fire anniversary for an update on the status of the case. 'This case remains active, and no further details can be released at this time,' said a spokesperson with EPSO. Overall, the fire burned 14,280 acres, causing over $420 million in damage to the region. The total cost of fighting the fire was $9.23 million. The fire also claimed the lives of two people, Marck and Robin Hecklotz, who were both longtime members of Space Command and were killed when trying to leave their home in Black Forest. At that time, the wildfire became the most destructive in Colorado's history, surpassing the Waldo Canyon Fire just a year earlier. Since then, the 2021 Marshall Fire in Boulder County became the most destructive. D20 students to reforest a portion of Black Forest scar Reforestation efforts continue in the Black Forest burn scar. D20 students to reforest a portion of Black Forest scar

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Tuesday, April 15, middle school students from Academy School District 20's (D20) Home School Academy will help reforest a section of the burn scar in Black Forest as part of a hands-on environmental learning activity. D20 is partnering with the Colorado State Forest Service to plant 100 tree seedlings in a section adjacent to the school campus and within the area heavily affected by the 2013 Black Forest Fire. The Colorado State Forest Service will lead the students and guide them through the planting process. The project was facilitated by a seedling grant made earlier in the year and supports the student's curriculum on wildlife ecology. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
