DRB-HICOM unit adds seven new vehicle carrier prime movers to fleet
KUALA LUMPUR: DRB-Hicom Auto Solutions Sdn Bhd (DHAS) has expanded its vehicle delivery business with seven new vehicle carrier prime movers.
The seven units of 10-litre MAN prime movers were recently delivered to DHAS, bringing the automotive logistics provider's total number of vehicle carriers to 10.
It also has two motorcycle carriers as part of its fleet.
Each vehicle carrier is able to transport up to seven sedan cars, or five units of four-wheel drive vehicles.
With this addition, total carrying capacity will increase by more than 50 per cent.
DHAS chief executive officer Fawzi Ahmad said the fleet expansion enables the company to shift focus from only inbound activities to more outbound delivery services to dealers' doorstep throughout the transportation cycle.
"With the new carriers, DHAS reduces reliance on out-sourced providers. We are now better able to provide a wider range of in-house services, giving us better control in ensuring the best of service to our customers," he added.
The expanded fleet, which had been deployed immediately, positions DHAS to serve the rapid growth of the Malaysian automotive market, particularly in respect to electric vehicles (EVs).
Fawzi said the company continues to expand operations and meet the rising demand for vehicle transportation services.
"These additional vehicle carriers also help us enhance cost management and improve our operational control.
"These efficiency improvements ultimately benefit our customers in various ways," he said.
He added that DHAS is currently focused on further strengthening market presence, while driving innovation within its operations.
As part of its long-term strategy, the company continuously assesses future requirements, adapting operations to ensure sustainable growth and alignment with customer needs.
As a subsidiary of DRB-HICOM Bhd, enhancements in DHAS' capabilities feed directly into the group's deep-rooted presence throughout the entire automotive industry ecosystem.
This ranges from car manufacturing and assembly, vehicle importation and logistics, distribution and retailing, after-sales service, to second-hand sales as well as car rental and leasing services.
DHAS, established in 2006, provides end-to-end automotive logistics with amongst the largest networks of comprehensive vehicle delivery services to dealerships nationwide.
It operates from well-equipped vehicle yards in Port Klang Free Zone in Port Klang, and Pekan, Pahang, with capacities of 3,800 units and 6,000 units respectively.
In addition to nationwide vehicle distribution, DHAS offers a full suite of logistics services.
This includes the importation of completely built-up vehicles and completely knocked-down kits, forwarding and customs clearance, warehouse management and pre-delivery inspection activities.
