Oregon secures commitment from 2026 New York four-star WR Messiah Hampton

Class of 2026 four-star wide receiver Messiah Hampton will make the cross-country trek to the Pacific Northwest to play college football, as the New York athlete has committed to Oregon. Hampton ranks as the No. 65 player overall in the 2026 cycle. He also ranks as the No. 1 prospect in the state of New York and No. 10 wide receiver in the class. Advertisement He announced his pledge to the Ducks on Friday, following an official visit to Eugene earlier this week. He made multiple trips to Oregon in the spring as well. The James Monroe High School (Rochester, New York) standout received nearly 30 scholarship offers throughout his recruitment, but he has ultimately decided to play for head coach Dan Lanning, offensive coordinator/quarterbacks Will Stein, wide receivers coach/pass game coordinator Ross Douglass and the Ducks. Development is important to Hampton, and he believes that is something the Oregon staff does very well. "I'd say development, just watching the coaches coach — see how they develop players, see how they coach players, how they respond to mistakes, just how they coach them," Hampton previously told Rivals when asked what he was hoping to learn on his official visits. In addition to Oregon, Hampton also took official visits to Penn State, Miami (FL.) and Syracuse as well. Advertisement Outside of the schools already mentioned, Hampton collected scholarship offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Boston College, California, Florida State, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Texas, USC, West Virginia, Wisconsin and others. The 6-foot-1, 198-pound Hampton is a three-level playmaker at wide receiver, and also makes a big impact as a returner on special teams. He recorded 1,900 all-purpose yards and 21 touchdowns as a junior at James Monroe in 2024, and earned first-team All-State honors for his efforts. Hampton also competes in track and field. In the classroom, Hampton carries a 3.9 grade point average. With Hampton's pledge, Oregon's 2026 class now grows to eight total commitments. All eight commits are rated as four-star prospects on The Ducks' class currently ranks 24th nationally. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OREGON FANS AT

Storylines to follow during June's third huge visit weekend

It's another huge June visit weekend and Rivals national recruiting director Adam Gorney takes a look at 10 major storylines coming over the next few days. RUMOR MILL: Finalists beginning to crystallize for top prospects CLASS OF 2026 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2027 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State TRANSFER PORTAL: Full coverage | Player ranking | Team ranking | Transfer search | Transfer Tracker RIVALS CAMP SERIES: Rivals Five-Star heading back to Indy | Rivals Five-Star roster | Schedule/info LYONS GOES TO EUGENE It's another big recruiting weekend at Oregon. That is commonplace for the Ducks but the biggest target is five-star quarterback Ryder Lyons. The Folsom, Calif., quarterback who visits Oregon this week and then BYU next weekend and then should have a decision, has a phenomenal relationship with offensive coordinator Will Stein, who has made it clear all along that Lyons is the big fish they want in this class. Advertisement Five-star edge Anthony Jones, four-star cornerback Davon Benjamin and many others are headed to Oregon but the Ducks get one final shot with Lyons and it's a big one because the Cougars are a real contender here. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OREGON FANS AT TEXAS A&M HAS A LOADED LIST Five-star lineman Lamar Brown and five-star receiver Ethan 'Boobie' Feaster are the headliners - and the Aggies lead for both of them - but Miami seems to be intriguing Brown heavily along with staying home at LSU and others aren't giving up on Feaster, either. But many more are coming to College Station. Texas and LSU have an edge for four-star running back KJ Edwards so this weekend will be huge for the Aggies there. Many believe Auburn leads for four-star edge Jaquez Wilkes but some people close to him love Texas A&M's position with him. It's going to be a huge weekend in College Station with a lot of elite talent all in the building. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH TEXAS A&M FANS AT OJO AT TEXAS AMONG OTHERS Five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo has done his Midwest swing through Ohio State and Michigan and both Big Ten powers have impressed him. This weekend will be for Texas to close on the in-state standout as the Longhorns have been the front-runner for a while and even though they've been tested, still look like the team to beat. It's another busy weekend in Austin. Ojo is the marquee name but Dre Quinn, Xavier Griffin, Samari Matthews, Jake Kreul and a whole bunch of other top targets will be there. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH TEXAS FANS AT ALABAMA TAKES ITS SHOT It's not a massive list coming to Alabama this weekend but it's an important one. The Crimson Tide probably trail for five-star athlete Brandon Arrington but he knows that staff well and definitely is coming with an open mind about his recruitment as Oregon, Texas A&M and others battle it out. Advertisement Plus Alabama will be looking to flip some top prospects. Miami running back commit Javian Mallory and Florida State linebacker commit Karon Maycock are expected along with four-star linebacker Nick Abrams, who has the Crimson Tide in his top four, among others. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH ALABAMA FANS AT MASSIVE WEEKEND AT AUBURN Quality over quantity is the name of the game at Auburn this weekend. Four-star quarterback Landon Duckworth, who narrowed his recruitment down to the Tigers and South Carolina, is coming back again as the intrigue continues there. He said this week it doesn't matter that Jackson Arnold and Deuce Knight are in the QB room and that the NIL situation is fine so Auburn is a real contender. Advertisement But he's not the only big dog coming to The Plains. Five-star receiver Cederian Morgan will be there as Auburn battles Alabama and others for him along with four-star defensive back Bralan Womack and No. 1 running back Ezavier Crowell (another top Alabama target). Some top commits who are flip targets - receivers Devin Carter and Denairius Gray and Shadarius Toodle - will be there, too and re-recruiting them will be important. BIG OPPORTUNITY IN GAINESVILLE Another impressive group of prospects heads to Florida this weekend as some are leans to the Gators, some are already committed, some are flip targets and some are long shots. Four-star linebacker Izayia Williams, who has had five commitments including one to Florida but is now committed to Ole Miss, will be back. Big-time four-star tight end Kaiden Prothro, who has Georgia and Auburn high, will be there. So will four-star running back Carsyn Baker, who has had Florida as the favorite although FSU impressed him, is coming. It's a big weekend for many reasons as Florida coach Billy Napier tries to keep the momentum going. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH FLORIDA FANS AT 1ST AND TEN FLORIDA WORK TO DO AT GEORGIA Five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson has been all over the country and each coaching staff has designed a plan for how they're going to use him in their defense. Now it's coach Kirby Smart's turn and he's the best at this game. That's a big visitor but there are plenty of others. Four-star slot receiver Vance Spafford will be there as the Bulldogs look to hold off Miami especially but also Washington and others for him. And let's not forget five-star Derrek Cooper, who was committed once to Georgia for about two minutes, but has always held the Dawgs in high regard. It's a great group coming to Athens. MICHIGAN BRINGING IN THE BIG GUNS Savion Hiter. John Turntine. Chase Calicut. Kenneth Goodwin. It's a huge weekend in Ann Arbor as there are top targets on both the offensive and the defensive sides of the ball and the Wolverines could make up a lot of ground in some recruitments this weekend. Advertisement For Hiter, there has been a lot of talk about Ohio State and Tennessee for him so this weekend will be big. Turntine and Calicut are leaning to stay in Texas so those could be tough. But Michigan and Oregon have emerged as the front-runners for Goodwin so that will be one to watch. There are many other top recruits coming as well. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH MICHIGAN FANS AT BIG TARGETS AT NOTRE DAME One week after having tons of elite underclassmen on campus for the Irish Invasion, Notre Dame brings in an excellent group of 2026 prospects led by pass-catching targets Kaydon Finley, Devin Fitzgerald, Preston Fryzel and Evan Jacobson. Advertisement The Irish are battling Penn State and Texas for four-star offensive lineman Grayson McKeogh, who will be back in South Bend. Major defensive back target Joey O'Brien will also be there as the Nittany Lions, Oregon and others are high on the list with his decision only days away, too. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH NOTRE DAME FANS AT TENNESSEE BRINGING IN BIG TARGETS Five-star LSU receiver commit Tristen Keys is expected back at Tennessee, which was a front-runner at one point in his recruitment. After visiting Ole Miss last weekend, Alabama pledge Zyan Gibson will be in Knoxville. Four-star Texas receiver pledge Chris Stewart is also expected there. Advertisement Take those top prospects and then add Tristian Givens, TJ White and some others on defense and coach Josh Heupel has another big weekend coming to Rocky Top. It would be even bigger if the Vols could flip some of those committed players. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH TENNESSEE FANS AT

Big Ten Spotlight: Five developing recruiting storylines

Rivals national recruiting analyst Greg Smith examines five developing recruiting storylines in the Big Ten as June visits loom. THIS SERIES: Five developing recruiting storylines in the SEC | ACC storylines CLASS OF 2025 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2026 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2027 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State TRANSFER PORTAL: Full coverage | Player ranking | Team ranking | Transfer search | Transfer Tracker The efforts of USC on the recruiting trail have been one of the stories of the 2026 cycle. Coach Lincoln Riley revamped the recruiting department and it paid off immediately. The Trojans currently have the No. 1 class in the country with a whopping 27 commitments. But will it last? In what's becoming a yearly tradition (regardless of staff) the Trojans secured an early commitment from a Georgia native. Now summer has hit and that player – Xavier Griffin – has decommitted from the program. Is this the start of the slide for the Trojans I actually don't think so. This time around USC has built its class largely on keeping in-state stars home. Seventeen of its commitments are from California, which is a winning formula for the Trojans. Especially as recruits wait for the wins to pile up on the field. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH USC FANS AT Coach Dan Lanning has found himself in a position he isn't used to during this recruiting cycle. The losing side of several high-profile recruitments. Recently, five-star quarterback Jared Curtis recommitted to Georgia over Oregon. Before that, high four-star receiver Kayden Dixon-Wyatt surprised and picked Ohio State over the Ducks. Then Oregon struck back when it landed a big surprise of its own. Five-star defensive lineman Richard Wesley committed to Oregon in a shocker. It wasn't surprising that he committed but the timing of it stunned many, including his family. The Ducks now have a top-10 class, but it speaks to the current expectations that we think they should be even higher. We've learned to not count out Lanning on the recruiting trail, but for the first time in a while we are seeing the Ducks' recruiting machine slow down. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OREGON FANS AT The thought process around elite linebacker prospect Cincere Johnson's recruitment all along has been that Ohio State is the clear team to beat. That is likely true. He's an Ohio native that the Buckeyes have prioritized heavily and his high school has a strong pipeline to Columbus. But there is another Big Ten team lurking. Penn State also has its own rich linebacker tradition and the program has done a great job recruiting Johnson. Of course the added wrinkle here is that defensive coordinator Jim Knowles is now in place at Penn State. He was recruiting Johnson to Ohio State so the two are very familiar with each other. Alabama is also a good option for Johnson but this feels like a heavyweight fight between two Big Ten powers. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OHIO STATE FANS AT SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH PENN STATE FANS AT Michigan State coach Jonathan Smith had the Spartans off to a hot start in the 2026 class early on. They nabbed a commitment from their preferred quarterback Kayd Coffman, who has continued to see his stock rise this cycle. Tight end Eddie Whiting may be one of the most underrated players in the region, tucked away in South Dakota. But the momentum stalled and the Spartans have just four commitments. This summer could be huge for the program and no one is a bigger target than Michigan native Khalief Canty. The four-star interior lineman is a terrific prospect that plays with a mean steak and something to prove. If the Spartans can keep him home it would really start to bring the class together. Also, it'd be a great in-state win for a coaching staff that is still getting its footing in a new region. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH MICHIGAN STATE FANS AT The Huskers have recruited well under coach Matt Rhule. The roster is basically flipped fully now between high school and transfer recruiting. But it's a little curious that the Huskers only have four commitments for the 2026 class right now. Especially when you factor in four-star defensive back CJ Bronaugh being a soft commitment. Nebraska is looking at bringing in a smaller high school class this cycle that will likely have a max of 15 players. So that does factor into where the class is right now. Rhule and his staff seem content to chase bigger recruits that they will have to close after the official visit season. Four-star defensive end Titan Davis, four-star running back Dezephen Walker and four-star wide receiver Ryan Mosley are just a few top-of-board targets that Nebraska wants. If the Huskers are able to land these guys (and others) it'll be a huge summer in Lincoln. Examining the QB ripple effect of Jared Curtis' Georgia commitment

Five-star Jared Curtis re-committed to Georgia on Monday as the Bulldogs beat Oregon for one of the top quarterbacks in the 2026 Rivals250. Here is a look at some quarterback dominoes that could now be in play. The Ducks have had a cold run at quarterback this recruiting cycle as four-star Jonas Williams flipped from Oregon to USC and now Curtis turned them down after they put on the full-court press to land the Nashville (Tenn.) Nashville Christian star. Advertisement In typical Oregon fashion, the Ducks could still land with the best quarterback in the bunch as this opens up a massive opportunity to land Ryder Lyons, who is basically considered a 2027 quarterback because of his LDS mission but should be worth the wait. I've now been told on multiple occasions that Oregon, BYU and Michigan are the front-runners in Lyons' recruitment with USC, Ole Miss, Ohio State and others still in the mix. Now the Folsom, Calif., five-star has a clear runway to end up in Eugene. USC chose Williams over Lyons first. Michigan just took five-star QB Brady Smigiel. BYU is under serious consideration but still feels like a long shot. Lyons loves the Ole Miss offense but there are still some hurdles there. In some ways, Lyons is a more mobile playmaker in the Bo Nix mold – the Oregon version of Nix, not Auburn. That could be a major selling point to the five-star quarterback as the loss of Curtis could definitely mean the gain of Lyons. Advertisement Where else could Oregon go? It wouldn't be shocking if the coaching staff isn't getting great vibes from Lyons to circle around again on Houston commit Keisean Henderson, who has remained steadfast with the Cougars but recruiting could also be the long game heading into December. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OREGON FANS AT GOOD NEWS FOR OLE MISS The news of Curtis to Georgia is great for Ole Miss when it comes to high four-star quarterback Landon Duckworth, who already had the Rebels in the lead but was intrigued by the situation in Athens if Curtis went West. That has not happened and should only reinforce the Rebels as his front-runner. Lyons is definitely interested but Ole Miss would still be a long shot for him. Advertisement Auburn would be one to watch but that QB room is so stacked now with Florida State and South Carolina (where Duckworth was once committed), but Curtis going to Georgia is great news for the Rebels. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OLE MISS FANS AT ONE LESS OPTION FOR OKLAHOMA COMMIT Jaden O'Neal has been committed to Oklahoma since June 2024 and even moved to Mustang, Okla., for his senior season but the Sooners are also going after Bowe Bentley. Others will be involved with O'Neal as Georgia has pretty much been eliminated now. Florida State is the one to watch. The four-star recently took a visit there and loved the Seminoles. Advertisement Auburn, Arizona and others could be involved. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OKLAHOMA FANS AT TWO-TEAM RACE FOR BOWE BENTLEY? Bowe Bentley/Twitter Could it now be a two-team race between Oklahoma and LSU for four-star Bowe Bentley? The Sooners are managing a lot of relationships in the pursuit of Bentley and in trying to keep Jaden O'Neal. But the feeling is that OU is the front-runner for Bentley, who is seen by some as offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle's guy in the 2026 class. No one is counting out LSU, especially since OU has a QB committed, but the Sooners look strong. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH LSU FANS AT

Three predictions: Osborne's choice, Brown's ranking, Oregon's QB pursuit

Rivals national recruiting director Adam Gorney has predictions on four-star running back Javian Osborne, Oregon landing a five-star quarterback and the ranking of Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab's Lamar Brown. NFL Draft: Did we hit or miss on each first-round pick? | Former five-stars taken on day 2 CLASS OF 2025 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2026 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2027 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State TRANSFER PORTAL: Full coverage | Player ranking | Team ranking | Transfer search | Transfer Tracker When four-star running back Javian Osborne visited Michigan recently, he loved the trip to Ann Arbor but also loved that Bryce Underwood is so talented at quarterback that his passing threat would free up the running game. That could be a major argument for the Wolverines. But the overwhelming feeling at this point is that Notre Dame is the frontrunner just days ahead of his commitment in early May. Notre Dame doesn't have a quarterback like Underwood and Michigan is coming off a national championship two seasons ago. But the Irish played for one last year, consistently have a devastating running attack and they've made it no secret that's not going to change. The Irish should be getting their next big-time back soon. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH NOTRE DAME FANS AT It feels like a fait accompli that Oregon will land a five-star quarterback in this recruiting class; we just don't know which one yet. Five-star Jared Curtis from Nashville (Tenn.) Christian announces his commitment on May 5 and he's down to Georgia and Oregon. Curtis has gone silent and hasn't given many hints on whether the Bulldogs or Ducks will win out, although the feeling is the Bulldogs might have the slightest edge. If Curtis goes to Georgia, then Oregon makes an even bigger move on Ryder Lyons, who is considered basically a 2027 recruit because he's taking a one-year LDS mission. But the Ducks, Michigan and BYU are three frontrunners for the Folsom, Calif., quarterback and one could surmise that they shoot up even higher if Curtis goes to Athens. Lyons has a phenomenal relationship with offensive coordinator Will Stein, he fits that offensive style well and Oregon will make him an even bigger priority if it loses out on Curtis. It seems unfathomable that Oregon would lose out on both. Either Curtis or Lyons will be headed to Eugene. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OREGON FANS AT Heading into this next rankings cycle in May, we're sitting with 23 five-stars but a few of them have to prove themselves through the summer to keep that ranking. We're trying to mirror the first round of the NFL Draft so we'll hopefully get to 32 – or as close as feasible considering the class. And the prediction is Lamar Brown will be one of them. The Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab four-star, two-way standout is an elite offensive lineman and at least two interior guys – Tyler Booker and Gray Zabel – went in the first round Thursday and a third could be counted if Ohio State's Donovan Jackson bounces inside. Brown has had a great offseason and he could back it up even more at the Rivals Five-Star this summer. With his position versatility and talent, it would be a surprise if he doesn't end up as a five-star prospect by the end of the 2026 cycle.
