Former Jets teammate sets the record straight on 'misunderstood' Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers has no shortage of critics — but if you asked his former Jets teammate Breece Hall, he's simply misunderstood. On a special Fanatics Fest edition of Da Get Got Pod with Marshawn Lynch and Mike Robinson, Hall shared his honest feelings on Rodgers and his short-lived tenure with the Jets: "Very misunderstood person," Hall said. "Great dude, comes off to people a certain way. But once you really get to know him, you realize how good of a person he is. Last year, when you're losing games, the blame gets put on the faces of the team, and it just so happened to be guys like me, Sauce [Gardner], Garrett [Wilson], Aaron [Rodgers], Quinnen [Williams], and Quincy [Williams]. "I feel like when you're losing, somebody has to get let go — but what people don't realize is when stuff is crazy organizationally, then it's hard for players to have stability and win games. … But I love Aaron. Me and him still have a great relationship to this day. That's my guy.' Many argued Rodgers was heavily at fault for the 2024 Jets' disaster — but Hall clearly believes the blame goes far deeper than any one player. In his short time with the Steelers, Rodgers' display of generosity in mentoring rookie Will Howard — and the respect he's earned from teammates and coaches in Pittsburgh — has proved Hall's point that the four-time MVP isn't as complicated or egocentric as critics make him out to be. Former Seahawk says Steelers' DK Metcalf wanted a trade to Raiders
DK Metcalf is carrying the hopes of Steelers offense on his shoulders — but a former Seahawk claims he almost went to the Las Vegas Raiders instead of Pittsburgh. On a recent episode of Da Get Got Pod, former Seahawks Mike Robinson and Marshawn Lynch joked with Raiders HC Pete Carroll about his pursuit of Seattle's players this offseason. After Lynch teased that Carroll "tried to bring everybody up out that building," Robinson chimed in with Metcalf's supposed preference: "I know," Robinson said. "Remember, DK wanted to go there." Carroll served as the Seahawks' head coach from 2010 to 2023 — and wasted little time trading for his former Seattle QB Geno Smith after becoming the new Raiders head coach this offseason. It makes complete sense that Metcalf preferred a reunion with his former quarterback and head coach in Las Vegas, but the Steelers' "really aggressive" trade package for DK was likely stronger than anything the Raiders offered. Who Metcalf is on the football field—an ever-athletic, lightning-fast, 6'4" mammoth of a wide receiver—is nothing compared to his work ethic and values shaped by loyalty. Metcalf proved how far his loyalty runs when he committed to Ole Miss as a freshman in high school and saw it through until the very end of his collegiate career. Metcalf would then argue that when he notices a teammate in a precarious situation—one that requires a physical altercation of sorts on the football field—he feels obligated to 'insert himself.' His loyalty to his teammates is truly admirable and doesn't just start and end on the football field—it also extends into the weight room: Advertisement "When I'm working out, I'm not just working out for myself or to look good. I gotta work out to make sure I'm there for my brothers on Sunday." DK Metcalf on leaving Seahawks for Steelers: 'The grass is greener on the other side' While the Seattle Seahawks chapter of DK Metcalf's career is officially over and his Pittsburgh Steelers story is about to be written, the two-time Pro Bowl receiver broke down his exit on Marshawn Lynch and Mike Robinson's podcast, Da Get Got Pod. Metcalf named a plethora of future Hall of Famers he appreciated, but made it clear he knew his time in Seattle had come to an end: 'I had a chance to play with some great players—from [Russell Wilson] to [Bobby Wagner], to [Marshawn Lynch], [Tyler Lockett] as well. I got a chance to meet some greats like Kam Chancellor, Richard Sherman—but you know, it's just time for me to move on. I think it's, 'the grass is greener on the other side.'' Robinson acknowledged that as a former Seahawks player, it isn't easy to hear Metcalf express a desire to leave—but he understands that the NFL is a business. Metcalf is off to a historic start with the Pittsburgh Steelers already—contractually speaking, of course—and could be primed for a huge 2025 season if the team can finally solve its quarterback situation this offseason.
