Man attacked in 'attempted murder' as XL bully killed in Aberdeen incident

A 51-year-old man was raced to hospital following an attempted murder in a park in Aberdeen. Police have taped off an Aberdeen park following the attempted murder of a man and the death of an XL Bully dog. Emergency crews raced to Eric Hendrie Park on Deveron Road in Aberdeen on Sunday July 27 at around 8.30pm after officers received a report of a disturbance involving a vehicle within the park. A 51-year-old man was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary following the incident, where hospital staff have described his condition as serious but stable. Police Scotland are understood to be treating the incident as attempted murder. The man's XL Bully dog died as a result of the disturbance. Photographs from the scene showed an area of the park taped off by police. Enquiries are ongoing in the area to trace everyone involved. Detective Sergeant Emma Low said: "Our investigation is at an early stage to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this incident. "Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact officers through 101 quoting incident number 3236 of 27 July, 2025. A body has been discovered in woodland during the search for a Scots man missing for over a week. The discovery was made near Kinnoir Woods in Huntly, Aberdeenshire, at around 9.30pm on Friday, July 11. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal. A statement from Police Scotland reads: "Around 9.30pm on Friday, 11 July 2025, officers found the body of a man near to Kinnoir Woods, Huntly. "Formal identification has still to take place however the family of Jonathan Parsons, 40, also known as Jay, has been informed. "The death is not believed to be suspicious. Locals urged to check sheds for missing man who vanished a week ago

Jonathan Parsons was last seen at around 7.15am on Thursday July 3. Police Scotland are carrying out searches in a river and woodlands for a missing man who vanished a week ago. Jonathan Parsons, 40, from Huntly, was last seen in Yule Square at around 7.15am on Thursday July 3. ‌ His vehicle was discovered at Battle Hill car park, with the force now carrying out extensive searches in Huntly, the River Bogie and Battle Hill Woods areas. ‌ Local residents have been asked to check their sheds and out buildings in case he has taken shelter there. Jonathan, who goes by Jay, is described as around 5ft 7in tall with brown hair. He was last spotted wearing blue trousers, boots and carrying a green rucksack. Inspector Barry Stewart said: 'We are concerned for Jay's welfare and enquiries are ongoing to trace him. Extensive searches are ongoing in Huntly, as well as the River Bogie and Battle Hill Woods areas. 'We are appealing to anyone who may have seen him, or knows where he may be, to come forward.
