Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr predictions: Boxing tips and odds
Our boxing tipster Dan Fitch has predictions for the cruiserweight fight between Jake Paul and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in the early hours of Sunday in Anaheim, California. The ringwalks are expected at 4am BST, and our man is expecting Paul to add another major name to his collection of scalps. Paul vs Chavez Jr tips Jake Paul to win by decision or technical decision @ 5/6 with Betano Holly Holm to win, Floyd Schofield to win by decision or technical decision, Gilberto Ramirez to win and Jake Paul to win @ 31/20 with Betano Odds courtesy of Betano correct at the time of publication and subject to change. Paul can handle Chavez Jr's class American Jake Paul has built his boxing career on match-ups against beatable big-name opponents. He defeated a 58-year-old Mike Tyson in his most recent bout in November and now faces a similarly faded fighter in the form of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The Mexican is a former middleweight world champion and the son of the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez. Blessed with a famous name and plenty of ability Chavez Jr, now 39, did not make the most of his opportunities during a career in which his dedication to training was often questioned. Making weight consistently proved to be an issue for the 6ft boxer and he will now meet Paul in a cruiserweight contest. He has only fought once in the past five years, winning unimpressively on points against the former MMA fighter Uriah Hall 12 months ago. His last loss came in 2021 to another MMA star, Anderson Silva, who Paul defeated with some ease the following year. In his prime Chavez Jr would have won this with ease, but that was a long time ago. Given his age and fitness issues, I have to assume that Paul will outwork him. A stoppage should not be ruled out, with Paul having proved on occasion that he possesses some power, but a points victory over this 10-round fight seems likelier. Undercard acca features four fights I have also put together an acca featuring four fights from the undercard, starting with a win for Holly Holm against Yolanda Vega Ochoa. This lightweight contest will be Holm's first boxing fight since 2013, but she has remained active in the world of MMA and her opponent has a weak record. In another lightweight contest, the up-and-coming Floyd Schofield faces former world champion Tevin Farmer, who remains a capable fighter. Although the younger man should win, I'm backing Tarmer to be able to take him the distance. In the co-main event, Gilberto Ramirez is expected to deal with the experienced Yuriel Dorticos, who at 39 is past his best. The WBA and WBO cruiserweight titles are on the line in this one. Finally I've added a straight win for Paul, giving us another opportunity should he win by stoppage. Paul vs Chavez Jr odds All odds courtesy of Betano. Horse racing tips: Tuesday May 6
There are five horse racing meetings across the UK and Ireland on Tuesday. The action starts at Fakenham (2.15-4.50pm), one of three National Hunt fixtures along with Ffos Las (2.30-5.00) and Worcester (5.48-8.18). On the Flat there are cards to enjoy at Cork (4.38-8.08) and Wolverhampton (6.30-9.00), and our nap of the day – Take The Boat – races in the 8.00 at the latter meeting, the day's only all-weather fixture. Dan Fitch's selection: If you already have a Betfair account and are looking for a new bookmaker to use for this week's racing, check out more free bets from the best betting sites, reviewed by our experts. 8.00 Take The Boat – Class 6 Handicap (7f) TAKE THE BOAT comes into this sprint for fillies in a great run of form, having shed her maiden tag at Kempton in February and won twice more at the same track since then. The first of those victories came over a mile, while the last two were over today's trip, with her most recent run being a career-best performance in a 13-runner handicap 27 days ago. This Des Donovan-trained filly has had Rob Hornby in the saddle for all of those three victories and the 29-year-old retains the ride tonight. We're backing Take The Boat to take a 4lb rise in her stride.

Horse racing tips: Friday May 2
There are six horse racing meetings across the UK and Ireland on Friday. The highlight is the opening day of the Guineas Festival at Newmarket (1.10-4.45pm), where the feature race is the Group 2 Jockey Club Stakes and the weekend features the first two Classics of the English Flat season. Goodwood (1.25-5.00), Musselburgh (1.35-5.05) and Newcastle (5.37-9.00) also stage Flat meetings, with National Hunt racing coming from Cheltenham (4.35-8.05) and day four of the Punchestown Festival (3.40-7.40), where the highlight is the Grade 1 Boodles Champion Hurdle. Our nap of the day, Rosy Affair, is an ultra-consistent filly who runs in the final race of the day at Newmarket. Dan Fitch's selection: If you already have a Betfair account and are looking for a new bookmaker to use for this week's racing, check out more free bets from the best betting sites, reviewed by our experts. 4.45 Rosy Affair – Class 3 Handicap (6f) ROSY AFFAIR makes her seasonal reappearance after a 2024 campaign in which she was a model of consistency, winning three of her eight races and finishing second in the other five. One of those three victories came over course and distance last June, when she ran on well in the closing stages to win a Class 4 handicap by a neck under William Buick, her jockey this afternoon. She finished her campaign with an impressive second-placed finish behind the progressive Godolphin filly Summer of Love at Yarmouth in September, and a 1lb rise seems fair here.

Horse racing tips: Thursday May 1
There are six horse racing meetings taking place across the UK and Ireland on Thursday, including the third day of the Punchestown Festival (2.30-6.35pm), which provides the only jumps action. On the Flat there are fixtures at Redcar (1.45-5.10), Yarmouth (2.05-5.35), Southwell (2.25-5.20), Chelmsford (5.45-8.45) and Ayr (5.50-8.30). Our nap of the day races on the all-weather at Southwell and is chasing a hat-trick of wins. Dan Fitch's selection: If you already have a Betfair account and are looking for a new bookmaker to use for this week's racing, check out more free bets from the best betting sites, reviewed by our experts. 4.45 Reginald Charles – Class 6 Handicap (7f) REGINALD CHARLES has won both his races since switching trainers from Bryan Smart to Geoff Oldroyd in January, and is looking to complete a hat-trick here. After a year out, the five-year-old gelding returned to action within a week of his move, winning over course and distance, and followed up with a victory over the same trip at Newcastle last month. Those back-to-back wins have resulted in a 6lb rise in the weights, but we are confident the selection has further improvement in him and can overcome that.

Horse racing tips: Wednesday April 30
There are five race meetings across the UK and Ireland on Wednesday, including the second day of the Punchestown Festival (2.30-6.35pm), which provides the only National Hunt action. The Group 3 Sagaro Stakes is the highlight of the card at Ascot (1.10-4.30), with other Flat meetings at Pontefract (1.50-5.10), Brighton (4.45-7.55) and on the all-weather at Southwell (5.05-8.40). Our nap of the day tackles a five-furlong sprint at Pontefract and appears to have been overlooked and overpriced in the market. Dan Fitch's selection: If you already have a Betfair account and are looking for a new bookmaker to use for this week's racing, check out more free bets from the best betting sites, reviewed by our experts. 2.57 Pontefract – Class 4 Handicap (5f) The Ian Williams-trained NIGHT ON EARTH looks generously priced against only eight rivals, none of whom has an overwhelming claim to take the prize in an open-looking race. Although the seven-year-old's winter form on the all-weather circuit doesn't look great on paper, excuses can be made for some results while others can be marked up, notably his fourth-placed finish in a Class 2 contest over the busy festive period. This speedy son of Kodiak has an almost identical win-rate on turf and artificial surfaces, and is now 3lb lower than his most recent victory on turf, which came over today's trip at Catterick last August. The hope is that an 81-day break and reverting to grass will prove winning ingredients.
