2 suspects accused of demanding money for unauthorized Toronto home repair
Police are searching for this pickup truck in connection with a mischief and fraud investigation. (Toronto Police Service) Toronto police are searching for two suspects who allegedly tried to defraud a homeowner after working on their property without permission. The incident happened on Tuesday morning near Danforth and Kelvin avenues. Police said two men approached a resident and told them that their home needed work. Without the homeowner's permission, the men allegedly started working. Police said the homeowner confronted the men, who then demanded money for their work. When the homeowner threatened to call the police, the men fled in a black pickup truck. Both suspects are described as white men between 25 and 30 years old, standing at five feet ten inches and wearing baseball hats. One of them had a medium build, strawberry-blonde hair, a beard, and was wearing a baseball hat, brown shorts, and construction boots. Police have released a photo of the truck described as having a stripe down the side. Cops identify victim in deadly east-end stabbing
The victim of Toronto's 16th homicide has been identified as Ashkan Pournasir-Roudbane, 36, of Toronto. Cops investigated a stabbing call in the area of Danforth and Hillingdon Aves. — east of Coxwell Ave. — on Tuesday around 11 p.m. Police said an altercation occurred between two males behind a plaza and they located the victim. The victim was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The suspect is described as male, wearing a dark-coloured hooded sweater and a black face covering. An image of the victim and the suspect has been released. Police are asking anyone who was in the area at the time and who has video surveillance or dash camera footage to contact investigators. On Thursday night, police said Anthony Steven Oliveira, 24, of no fixed address, had been identified as the suspect and is wanted for first-degree murder. The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. He is known to use public transit throughout the GTA, including in Toronto, Durham Region and Peel Region.
