LAHAD DATU: Five men, including three civil servants, were arrested with drugs, Ketum juice, cough syrup and weapons during a raid on a house in Taman Harapan, Jalan Silam, on Monday. Lahad Datu District Police Chief ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said the raid by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of the Lahad Datu District Police Headquarters (IPD) uncovered 0.14gm of syabu, 224 litres of Ketum juice and 8.2 litres of cough syrup. The team also seized a Samurai sword and six machetes. 'One of the five men, aged 24 to 38, tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine. 'All the suspects are currently remanded for further investigations,' said Dzulbaharin. According to him, the seizures were worth RM11,655.40. LAHAD DATU: Two men were sentenced to seven years in prison and ordered given 10 strokes of the cane, respectively by the Sessions Court, here, on Monday. Judge Suhaila Selag imposed the sentence to Adahar Zaini, 38-year-old local, and Hendrikus Herman, 28-year-old Indonesian, after they pleaded guilty to the charge against them. Adahar and Hendrikus were charged with having 32.63 grammes of syabu on March 22 by the roadside of Kampung Panji. Both of the accused were originally charged under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 at Magistrate's Court on April 3. However, the charge was amended to Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 after the chemist's report obtained the actual weight of the drugs. LAHAD DATU: Marine police confiscated 215,600 sticks of various brand cigarettes and two vehicles from a house in Silam, here, on Tuesday. Sabah (Region Four) Marine Police Commander ACP Mohd Nazri Ibrahim said a team from the Unit Gempur Marin raided the house at 5.30am. He said a local in his 20s was arrested to assist in the investigation. 'The seizures, including the vehicles, were worth RM507,590,' he said, adding the case would be investigated under the Customs Act 1967. Meanwhile, police arrested three foreigners and seized drugs believed to be syabu in two separate operations by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division, here, on Tuesday. District Police Chief ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said the first suspect, a 35-year-old Indonesian, was detained at 1.30pm at Jalan Panji. He said police found a translucent plastic packet containing substances believed to be syabu weighing 0.27gm in the suspect's possession. The case would be investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952. 'On the same day, police arrested two men from the Philippines inside a hut in a plantation in Jalan Tengah Nipah and seized 5.45gm of syabu, a modified straw and aluminium foils. 'One of the suspects tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine,' he said, adding that the case would be investigated under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952. Dzulbaharin said all the suspects were currently in their custody for further investigations. LAHAD DATU: Police seized more than 15 grammes of substances believed to be syabu and arrested two men in two separate operations at Felda Sahabat and Jalan Pantai. District Acting Police Chief, Supt Jimmy Panyau, said the arrests and the seizures were made following operations conducted by the Lahad Datu Narcotic Crime Investigation Division and Battalion 17 of Lahad Datu General Operation Force (GOF). He said the first arrest was made in Op Taring Esszone conducted at Felda Sahabat 2 about 7.30pm on Sunday. 'The team arrested a 36-year-old Indonesian and found 15.57 grammes of substances believed to be syabu and packaging tools in his possession. 'Urine tests conducted on the suspect found that he was positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine,' he said. The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952. Jimmy said, on the next day, police arrested an 18-year-old Filipino at Jalan Pantai. He said inspection on the suspect led to the seizure of 0.19 grammes of substances believed to be syabu and aluminium foil. 'The suspect tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine. Pontian cops find drugs on foreigner after brief pursuit

PONTIAN: Drugs were round on a foreigner when he was arrested after trying to evade a police patrol. Pontian OCPD Supt Mohammad Shofee Tayib said the male suspect, who was driving a white car, refused to stop when approached by policemen at 10pm on Wednesday (June 25). "Our men ordered him to stop but he sped off," he said. Supt Mohammad Shofee said the suspect and a female passenger, also a foreigner, were finally intercepted at a traffic light intersection on Jalan Sungai Gurap. He said upon inspection, police discovered two packets containing 7.94g and 0.65g of methamphetamine respectively. "Both suspects did not possess valid travel documents nor identifications," he said in a statement on Thursday (June 26). The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code, Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act, Section 39(A)(1) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 and Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
