Detectives say the arrest comes after great concern in the Johnston area following the alleged sexual assault. A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "A 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the serious sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl in Johnstone on Sunday, 13 July, 2025. "He is due to appear in court at a later date." Detective Inspector David Hardie said: "We know this incident has caused concern in the local community and I would like to thank members of the public for their support during our enquiries." It comes as cops revealed nine people were arrested during the final day of the TRNSMT festival. The festival-goers ended up in cuffs as thousands attended the third day of the bash at Glasgow Green - with some arrested for sexual assaults. Cops arrested a total of 19 people across the weekend, almost half of the number nicked last year. Sunday saw a number of revellers lifted for a range of alleged offences. Police say arrests were made for culpable and reckless behaviour, assault, possession of weapons and assaulting officers. Tiny house trail bringing footfall to Dawlish
A tourist trail of model houses made to the scale of five-inch (12cm) fictional creatures is making a return to Dawlish high street for its third houses - known as Ditto Houses - are the creations of David Hardie and his sister Diana Dittos of Dawlish started as bedtime stories Mr Hardie told his son and nieces, but after becoming ill with a rare blood condition in 2021, he decided to bring the creatures to life in a trail for children in the are 66 of the model houses throughout the town. Mr Hardie said "I've always had the idea of making the little houses and putting them around as an attraction to help Dawlish and when I was ill I had time, so they started to appear".The Dittos are described as "hard-working creatures who take great pride in their town of Dawlish in Devon."They "look after the wildlife, such as the swans and ducks, and are always ready to help if a bird's nest is damaged or a baby hedgehog gets lost", according to the creators. The tourist trail draws people of all ages, not just children, and the books written by David's sister Diana Townsend are just as popular across the Townsend said "it's not just children that are reading them, it's quite a lot of adults and senior citizens too".The trail of Ditto houses encompasses many businesses in the town, something they said they were very grateful Nicks, owner of the Shoe Centre, said: "Whilst the trail is fun and the houses are incredible, it also means that when people are following the trail, they are looking in our shop windows, they are looking at what we all have to offer."She added: "We're all struggling slightly and this has been brilliant."

Police searching for three suspects following Valentine's Day assault in Gourock
DETECTIVES are hunting for three suspects after a man was 'seriously assaulted' in Gourock on Valentine's Day. Police rushed to a flat in Davidson Drive at around 1:10pm yesterday, where a 56-year-old man was found injured. He was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment for lacerations. Hospital staff describe his condition as stable. Detective Inspector David Hardie is urging anyone who was in the area at around 1pm and may have witnessed anything suspicious to come forward. He said: 'Enquiries are ongoing to identify and trace the three people responsible for this attack. 'Officers have been carrying out enquiries in the local area along with gathering and checking CCTV footage to establish more information on the circumstances. "I would also ask any drivers with dashcam or people with personal footage to review their recordings and please get in touch if it holds anything relevant.' Those with information which could assist officers are asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1500 of February 14. Information can also be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
