IndieWire Wins Four Southern California Journalism Awards, Including Best Website

IndieWire took home four of the top prizes at the 2025 Southern California Journalism Awards, including Best Website, News Organization Exclusive to the Internet, which honored the entire staff, and three awards for individual writers. IndieWire received a grand total of 11 nominations at this year's awards, which marks the most it has earned in a single year. The winners were announced by the Los Angeles Press Club at a gala on the evening of Sunday, June 22. IndieWire TV Critic Ben Travers won the Criticism of TV award, with the judges offering the following praise for his review of 'Somebody Somewhere' Season 3: 'What is the best thing a review can deliver? If it's a favorable review, and the reader has not experienced the production, it inspires the reader to immediately seek out the piece and experience it. This review fills that bill admirably — and as a bonus offers accessible prose and some nice turns of phrase. In short, the review itself is enjoyable, and it lures the reader to a TV series that the reviewer finds enjoyable and satisfying.' More from IndieWire David S. Goyer: 'I'd Be Crazy to Say It Wasn't Weird' to Work on 'The Sandman' Amid Neil Gaiman Allegations 'Weapons' New Trailer: Josh Brolin Demands to Know Where His Missing Child Went in Zach Cregger's Horror Movie Senior Film Reporter Brian Welk won the News Feature, Film/Broadcast Related category for his story Tax Credits Aren't Enough: How States Are Wooing Film Productions. The judges wrote 'This is an important story for the industry, and it's well-written.' IndieWire's Craft Editor Sarah Shachat and producer Trevor Wallace won the Regular Podcast category for How 'Hacks' Keeps Ava and Deborah (and the Audience) on Their Toes in Season 3, with the judges writing 'This quite entertaining podcast was especially well-produced and offered revealing, behind-the-scenes insights.' IndieWire also received three second place finishes (Chief Critic and Reviews Editor David Ehrlich for Criticism of Movies, Features Writer Jim Hemphill for Commentary/Analysis of Film, and Senior News Editor Samantha Bergeson for TV/Streaming/Radio Feature) and two third place finishes (Digital Director Christian Blauvelt for Obituary/In Appreciation, TV/Film Personalities and Associate Editor Harrison Richlin for Entertainment Commentary, TV/Film Related). IndieWire's Weekend Editor Rance Collins also received a nomination in the Print Journalist (Under 50,000 Circulation) category for his previous work at the Beverly Press. ‘Foundation' Sets Season 3 Premiere Date At Apple TV+; Watch Teaser Trailer

Nearly two years after Season 2 of Apple TV+'s Foundation aired, we now have a release date for Season 3 of David S. Goyer's epic saga, starring Jared Harris, Lee Pace and Lou Llobell. The third season of the sci-fi drama will debut on Friday, July 11. The 10-episode season will premiere globally with one episode on on Apple TV+, followed by new episodes weekly, every Friday through September 12. The streamer also released the first teaser trailer, which you can view above. Based on Isaac Asimov's trilogy, season 3 continues the epic chronicle of a band of exiles on their monumental journey to save humanity and rebuild civilization amid the fall of the Galactic Empire. More from Deadline Set 152 years after the events of season two, The Foundation has become increasingly established far beyond its humble beginnings while the Cleonic Dynasty's Empire has dwindled. As both of these galactic powers forge an uneasy alliance, a threat to the entire galaxy appears in the fearsome form of a warlord known as 'The Mule' whose sights are set on ruling the universe by use of physical and military force, as well as mind control. It's anyone's guess who will win, who will lose, who will live and who will die as Hari Seldon, Gaal Dornick, the Cleons and Demerzel play a potentially deadly game of intergalactic chess. New Season 3 cast includes Emmy-winner Cherry Jones, Brandon P. Bell, Synnøve Karlsen, Cody Fern, Tómas Lemarquis, Alexander Siddig, Oscar-winner Troy Kotsur and Pilou Asbæk. They join returning cast members Laura Birn, Cassian Bilton, Terrence Mann and Rowena King. Foundation is produced for Apple by Skydance Television. Goyer also serves as executive producer, with Bill Bost, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Matt Thunell, Robyn Asimov, David Kob, Christopher J. Byrne, Leigh Dana Jackson, Jane Espenson and Roxann Dawson also serving as executive producers. Seasons 1 and 2 of Foundation are streaming globally on Apple TV+.
