2026 3-star ATH is 'locked in' with Texas A&M despite Auburn offer

Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class features one of the more intriguing athletes in the cycle, who is expected to play tight end with the Aggies once he makes his way to campus. As the starting quarterback for Fort Bend Marshall HS in Missouri City, Texas, the school where former standout running back De'Von Achane played, three-star athlete Kaeden Johnson has now become a coveted prospect in the SEC. Sometimes, it takes just one notable program noticing an under-the-radar prospect's ability to create a momentum shift, which has become the case with Johnson, who has now received an offer from Auburn, where his father, Spencer Johnson, played for the Tigers from 2000 to 2003. Johnson also reportedly has other family members who live in the Auburn, Alabama area. Johnson has now shut down his recruitment, like many of the program's 26 commitments in the class. However, during a recent interview with On3/Rivals Auburn insider Jeffrey Lee, Johnson stated that he is "pretty locked in with Texas A&M," compared to the excitement surrounding the offer from his childhood team. "I'm still trying to gt a date set," Johnson stated. "But it's going to take a lot. I'm pretty locked in with A&M." Johnson further explained that, while the offer is both exciting and personal, Texas A&M remains the leader to sign him in early December. "It's a cool opportunity to get offered by Auburn where my dad played, but it's going to take a lot to change my commitment." Johnson's 2024 season included 2,109 yards and 25 touchdowns through the air, completing 60% of his passes, while also rushing for 571 yards and six touchdowns. Johnson is now the 174th-ranked prospect in the 2026 cycle and the 24th-ranked prospect in Texas. Miami 2025 Player Profile: Dolphins RB De'Von Achane among NFL's top dual-threat talents

De'Von Achane ran more pass routes from the slot (120) and out wide (58) than any other RB in the league last seasonHe ranked 1st in the number of screen, go, slant, post, wheel and dig routes among RBs#GoFins Few draft picks in recent Miami Dolphins history have paid off as quickly—or as spectacularly—as running back De'Von Achane. Entering his third NFL season, the 2023 third-round selection has emerged as one of the league's most efficient and explosive dual-threat backs. In 2024, Achane led all NFL running backs in receptions and receiving yards, finishing with 907 rushing yards and 592 receiving yards—his 1,499 scrimmage yards ranked fifth in Dolphins history. He became the first player in franchise history to post 750+ rushing and 500+ receiving yards in a single season. Further showcasing his versatility, Achane was the only player league-wide to record 30+ first downs both rushing and receiving—a feat no Miami back had accomplished since Terry Kirby in 1995. Despite a crowded backfield featuring Jaylen Wright, Alexander Mattison, and rookie Ollie Gordon, Achane is poised for expanded usage—particularly in the slot and out wide. According to Ryan Smith of PFF, he ran 120 routes from the slot and 58 from the boundary in 2024, both tops among NFL running backs. With added depth to manage carries and a full, healthy season from Tua Tagovailoa, Achane's role in the passing game is expected to grow even further. De'Von Achane tells haters to 'keep the same energy' when Dolphins prove they aren't soft

De'Von Achane tells haters to 'keep the same energy' when Dolphins prove they aren't soft The Miami Dolphins have dealt with a "soft" label for much of the last three years and they haven't done much to dispel it. 'That's the thing with narratives," Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel told reporters shortly after his team lost 30-17 on a cold Thanksgiving night at Lambeau Field. "There's one way to change them and so my expectation would be: the naysayers, you prove them right, they'll be louder. That's part of the territory. You carry that until you do something about it, and unfortunately, we didn't." Proving those naysayers wrong is a focal point for the Dolphins heading into the 2025 season. And running back De'Von Achane is already challenging the haters. "I feel like we go out there and practice every day, and we are going to show when the season comes everybody who was saying those little remarks, just make sure they keep the same energy," Achane said. The effort to get tougher, bigger, and meaner in the offseason was especially evident in the 2025 NFL draft. Miami's first three draft picks weighed about 1,000 pounds collectively and first-rounder Kenneth Grant and second-rounder Jonah Savaiinaea will likely start right away on the defensive and offensive line, respectively. Coupled with free agency additions like offensive linemen James Daniels and Larry Borom, as well as blocking tight end Pharaoh Brown, the Dolphins are hopeful to see improvements in the trenches. After leading the NFL in yards per carry in 2023 with an average of 5.1, the Dolphins' plummeted to 28th in 2024 with 4.0 yards per rush attempt. With a retooled front and some more buy-in from players this offseason, Achane is eyeing big numbers in 2025. And he's ready to silence the doubters along the way.

Dolphins' De'Von Achane Reveals Goals for 2025 Season

The Miami Dolphins have some of the best skill position players in the NFL, including some of the fastest athletes in the league, such as wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Running back De'Von Achane is no exception, running a 4.32-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine in 2023, which was the fastest of any player at his position in that draft class. Speed isn't the end-all be-all, though, and Achane knows that. Coming off his sophomore season in the NFL, which saw him rack up 907 rushing yards on 203 carries, the Texas A&M product knows he still has room for improvement. Advertisement Achane is a home-run hitter, able to break off long runs any chance he has the ball in his hands. However, he is also prone to negative plays, losing yardage on 24.1 percent of his carries in 2024. The only other running backs worse in the category were Minnesota Vikings running back Cam Akers and Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb. Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane (28) rushes with the ball against the Buffalo Bills during the second half at Hard Rock Vinlove-Imagn Images 'Me trying to make a big play instead of like, just doing the right thing,' Achane told the Palm Beach Post. 'Me watching film, I feel like I left a lot of plays (out there). I feel like I could have did more.' There were positives to Achane's 2024 season, he was available in all 17 games as opposed to his rookie season when he missed six due to a knee injury. Advertisement "Staying healthy was the main just staying in the training room, just coming in on off days, making sure even if I'm not hurt, just being there. Seventeen, that's a long time. And I learned that from my rookie year.' Achane will look to be the featured back for Miami in 2025, as his former running mate Raheem Mostert departed for the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency.
