22-year-old dead after head-on highway crash: RCMP

RCMP said that a two-vehicle crash happened around midnight on Highway 12 in the RM of Hanover, about one kilometre south of Highway 303. Officers said one vehicle was on its side in the ditch, with the other vehicle blocking both lanes on the highway. A 22-year-old man, the driver of one of the vehicles, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, a 20-year-old man from the RM of De Salaberry, was transported to hospital in critical condition. He has since been upgraded to stable condition. Steinbach RCMP and the RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team continue to investigate.

Three people are dead after two car crashes in southeastern Manitoba between Friday and Monday. Early Monday morning, a 22-year-old Steinbach man died after a head-on collision in the rural municipality of Hanover. At about 12:00 a.m. on Monday, police responded to a two-vehicle crash in the area of Highway 12, about one kilometre south of Highway 303, Steinbach RCMP said in a Monday news release. When police arrived, they found one vehicle blocking both lanes of Highway 12. The driver inside, a 22-year-old man from Steinbach, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Police said the other vehicle was on its side in the ditch. That driver, a 20-year-old man from the rural municipality of De Salaberry, was taken to the hospital in critical condition and has since been upgraded to stable. According to the release, Steinbach RCMP continue to investigate the crash with help from the RCMP's criminal collision investigation team. Crash kills woman, 39, and girl, 11 A woman and a young girl are dead after their minivan collided with a truck and swerved into a creek on Friday in the community of St. Labre, located about 100 kilometres southeast of Winnipeg. On Friday around 12:45 p.m., police responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on St. Labre Road, Sprague RCMP said in a news release on Monday. Police said paramedics and firefighters were already on scene when they arrived at the scene. A damaged truck was on the southbound lane, while a minivan was on its side in a creek near the road. Police said the minivan's driver, a 39-year-old woman, and an 11-year-old girl, who was one of the van's passengers, were pronounced dead at the scene. A 10-year-old girl, who was also in the van, was taken to hospital with minor injuries The 72-year-old man who was driving the truck was assessed by paramedics, but didn't need to go to hospital, police said. Police said the initial investigation found that the minivan was approaching from the north, and veered into the southbound lane as the driver took a curve in the road and crashed into the truck. Teenager missing since Saturday found: RCMP

RCMP said the 17-year-old girl went missing from the RM of De Salaberry on Saturday. On Wednesday, RCMP reported the girl was found safe and thanked the public for its help. CTV News has removed the teen's name and photo, as she is a minor.

Manitoba teen missing since the weekend: RCMP
Kayleigh Plewman is pictured in this undated supplied image. (RCMP) The Manitoba RCMP is searching for a teenage girl who has been missing since the weekend. Kayleigh Plewman, 17, was last seen leaving her home, located on PR 403 in the RM of De Salaberry, around 1:45 a.m. on Saturday. Police said it's believed she may be in the Grunthal or Richer areas. Plewman is described as five-foot-seven in height, 140 lbs, with blonde hair and blue/green eyes. Police could not provide a clothing description. Mounties and Plewman's family are concerned for her well-being. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call police at 204-433-7433 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
