Coronation Street newcomer Ollie's past TV roles as he makes move on Dee-Dee

Coronation Street fans were introduced to new character Ollie in tonight's episode, as he insisted on buying Dee-Dee a drink, but where have fans seen actor Raphael Akuwudike? There was another new face introduced in the cobbles tonight, as Coronation Street fans were introduced to new character Ollie, played by actor Raphael Akuwudike. Ollie was a regular punter in the Rovers, who came over to Dee-Dee Bailey and insisted on buying her a drink. As he tries to chat her up, Dee Dee can't help being charmed, although reluctant to get to know him at first. ‌ Is happiness finally on the horizon for Dee-Dee or could Ollie be bringing even more trouble into her life? ‌ Although Dee-Dee may not have seen Ollie before, many Coronation Street fans would have, as it's not Raphael's first soap, or TV role. Although his roles may have been small, fans may be scratching their heads as they wonder where they've seen him before. Murder mystery fans may recognise the new character for his role as Kit Harcourt in The Marlow Murder Club. The star played the role as Kit Harcourt, alongside stars including Samantha Bond, Jo Martin and Cara Horgan. In the small role earlier this year, Kit's was found at the Marlow Yacht Club, and he was killed by a blow to the head. ‌ Coronation Street isn't his first soap role however, as he starred in an episode of Doctors in 2019, as he starred as Beni Cameron. The actor has also starred in a number of theatre shows, including The Player Kings (The Noel Coward); Beautiful Thing (Stratford East); Romeo and Juliet (The Almeida) and Sons of the Prophet (Hampstead Theatre). ‌ It's been a tough ride for Dee-Dee this year - and she's certainly not had the best of luck in her love life. She thought she found the love of her life with fiancé Joel Deering, however, his sick crimes came to light last year and he was killed shortly after. While with Dee-Dee, Joel attempted to kill Lauren Bolton, before she went on the run for months - only to return pregnant with his child. Lauren later got her own back as it was revealed she was the one who pushed Joel into the river. However, Dee-Dee's nightmare didn't end there, as she later found out she was pregnant with Joel's child. Will she ever find her happy ever after?

Corrie character goes behind a loved one's back as a huge showdown is confirmed

When Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) gave birth to her daughter Laila in Coronation Street she was determined to give the baby up for adoption. With Laila being the child of evil Joel Deering (Calum Lill), Dee-Dee had been convinced she wouldn't be able to cope with raising her. She only went through with the pregnancy and the birth because Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton)'s son Frankie needed a bone marrow transplant and they hoped Dee-Dee's baby would be a match. But everything changed after the baby was born. It was a traumatic experience for Dee-Dee and life-saving surgery for her after the birth left her unable to have any more children. With her brother James (Jason Callender) keen to adopt the baby – who was named Laila – this seemed like the perfect solution. But as Dee-Dee has seen more of Laila, she's grown more and more attached to her, even referring to her as 'my little girl' in a radio interview. Dee-Dee's Christian faith is very important to her, so recently she's realised that she would love Laila to be baptised. Unfortunately James isn't religious and told his sister that he didn't want Laila to have anything to do with the church. Dee-Dee ignored this and talked to Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) about arranging a christening. He said that James would have to give his permission, but when James refused to discuss the subject, Dee-Dee lied to Billy and said James was happy to go ahead. When Dee-Dee asked Alya (Sair Khan) to be Laila's godmother, Alya was troubled by the idea that the christening was going to be behind James's back. She reluctantly agreed, and the plans for the christening were finalised. More Trending The repercussions of this decision will become clear in upcoming episodes. The christening goes ahead, and Dee-Dee celebrates with Alya and Adam (Sam Robertson), Laila's godparents, and thanks Billy for a lovely service. How James reacts in the immediate aftermath of the christening remains to be seen, but it's not long before he tells Dee-Dee that he's spoken to the adoption team to get the ball rolling on becoming Laila's legal guardian. It's clear from that that he's not happy about such a huge decision as a christening being made without his consent and he's taking steps to make sure noting like that can happen again. Coronation Street fuels fan theory over Daniel's new love interest

follow from , which is available to watch now on ITVX but hasn't yet aired on ITV1. Coronation Street has fuelled a key fan theory over Daniel Osbourne's new relationship storyline. Fans are busy speculating over who Daniel's next girlfriend will be, after actor Rob Mallard shared a new storyline teaser with us on the red carpet at the British Soap Awards last week. With the news that Daniel could be moving on from Bethany Platt and Daisy Midgeley, some viewers have started to wonder whether Dee-Dee Bailey could be the lady in question. With interesting timing, Dee-Dee shares scenes with Daniel in tonight's episode as they have an unexpected heart-to-heart at the Bistro. Related: When Daniel's friend cancels lunch plans, Dee-Dee invites him to join her at her table instead. Daniel takes the opportunity to share his concerns over local teens Dylan Wilson and Brody Michaelis, who are butting heads after their tense time together in the Secure Training Centre. Meanwhile, Dee-Dee speaks to Daniel on how she's feeling following her decision to give away her baby daughter Laila to her brother James. Could this unexpected friendship be an early red herring – or a sign of things to come? Related: In his exclusive chat with us at the British Soap Awards, Rob explained: "I'm not allowed to say anything too specific, but sure enough, he'll be falling for another woman. He'll be falling head over heels again. When that happens, I'm not too sure. "And he's gone back to work at the school. We've got all the kids in the show, and with the age that they're at with the storylines, I should be involved with the younger cast a bit more." Asked whether Daniel will learn from his previous romantic mistakes, Rob laughed: "No, he can't! He's Ken's son, isn't he? Everything's got to be a mess all the time. "So I'm expecting just more chaotic relationships, just over and over and over again."Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX. Dee-Dee gets a major shock as unexpected Corrie return changes everything

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) went through a rollercoaster of emotions in Coronation Street after she discovered she was pregnant. The father of the baby was her former fiancé, evil Joel Deering (Calum Lill), and Dee-Dee couldn't cope with the idea that she was carrying the child of someone who'd done such terrible things. She only went through with the pregnancy because her child could potentially be a life-saving bone marrow donor for Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton)'s son Frankie. After a horrific birth experience during which she lost a lot of blood and had to have a hysterectomy, Dee-Dee had to come to terms with the news that she wouldn't be able to have any more children. She was also determined to do something about the racism she encountered from the maternity department. As for the baby, Laila, she'd decided early on that she would give her up for adoption. Arrangements were made for her brother James (Jason Callender) and his partner Danny to adopt the baby. They were unable to take Laila straight away, so the Bailey family cared for Laila in the meantime. However this meant that Dee-Dee spent more time with her and she realised she was becoming attached to her. People she confided in, such as Eileen (Sue Cleaver) and Alya (Sair Khan), insisted it wasn't too late for her to decide to keep the baby. Alya said that James would forgive her eventually and she should follow her heart. Despite this advice, Dee-Dee told James that she wanted him to take Laila back to America with him – and the sooner the better. Even so, she was devastated as she watched her brother leaving the Street with her baby. More Trending In episodes airing soon, Dee-Dee is focusing on work and her campaign to ensure better training for midwives. She tells Ed (Trevor Michael Georges) that she's taken on a custody case, and her dad worries that the similarities with her own situation make it a difficult subject for her to be dealing with. Dee-Dee tells Daniel (Rob Mallard) that she's certain she made the right decision in giving Laila to James and Danny to bring up, but her family are less convinced and hope she doesn't end up regretting her decision. That is about to be put to the test because, as Dee-Dee and Daniel head out of the bistro a taxi pulls up – and James gets out, carrying Laila.
