Dee-Dee gets a major shock as unexpected Corrie return changes everything
Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) went through a rollercoaster of emotions in Coronation Street after she discovered she was pregnant.
The father of the baby was her former fiancé, evil Joel Deering (Calum Lill), and Dee-Dee couldn't cope with the idea that she was carrying the child of someone who'd done such terrible things.
She only went through with the pregnancy because her child could potentially be a life-saving bone marrow donor for Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton)'s son Frankie.
After a horrific birth experience during which she lost a lot of blood and had to have a hysterectomy, Dee-Dee had to come to terms with the news that she wouldn't be able to have any more children. She was also determined to do something about the racism she encountered from the maternity department.
As for the baby, Laila, she'd decided early on that she would give her up for adoption. Arrangements were made for her brother James (Jason Callender) and his partner Danny to adopt the baby.
They were unable to take Laila straight away, so the Bailey family cared for Laila in the meantime. However this meant that Dee-Dee spent more time with her and she realised she was becoming attached to her.
People she confided in, such as Eileen (Sue Cleaver) and Alya (Sair Khan), insisted it wasn't too late for her to decide to keep the baby. Alya said that James would forgive her eventually and she should follow her heart.
Despite this advice, Dee-Dee told James that she wanted him to take Laila back to America with him – and the sooner the better. Even so, she was devastated as she watched her brother leaving the Street with her baby. More Trending
In episodes airing soon, Dee-Dee is focusing on work and her campaign to ensure better training for midwives. She tells Ed (Trevor Michael Georges) that she's taken on a custody case, and her dad worries that the similarities with her own situation make it a difficult subject for her to be dealing with.

Dee-Dee tells Daniel (Rob Mallard) that she's certain she made the right decision in giving Laila to James and Danny to bring up, but her family are less convinced and hope she doesn't end up regretting her decision.
That is about to be put to the test because, as Dee-Dee and Daniel head out of the bistro a taxi pulls up – and James gets out, carrying Laila.

Major EastEnders Suki and Avani twist in early BBC iPlayer release
This article contains spoilers for tonight's episode of EastEnders, which airs on BBC One at 7.30pm or can be streamed now on iPlayer. Suki Panesar-Unwin (Balvinder Sopal) has made a huge decision about granddaughter Avani Nandra-Hart's (Aaliyah James) unborn baby. As viewers have seen this week, a troubled Avani confided in best mate Barney Mitchell (Lewis Bridgeman) about her pregnancy fears. She was terrified by the prospect of raising twisted Joel Marshall's (Max Murray) child, and knew that she'd have to take a test to confirm whether or not she was expecting. In the office at Harry's Barn, her worst nightmare was confirmed – the test was positive. Avani immediately made plans to terminate the pregnancy, asking Barney to help her source abortion pills online. He told her she'd have to use legal methods – so she set about doing some research. What she didn't anticipate was Suki looking over her shoulder, and seeing a clinic's website open on her laptop. It was then that Avani had to come clean. In today's episode, Suki urged her to reconsider. She noted that it could be Avani's only chance to have a child, and she didn't want her to regret it. The teen remained firm on her decision, and was prepared to open up to mum Priya (Sophie Khan Levy) and dad Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) about her ordeal. Unfortunately, her parents were too distracted to sit down and hear about her difficult situation. She headed back to speak with Barney, who offered to join her at the abortion clinic, but she told him that she was starting to have doubts about what to do next. Lady Gaga painfully slips mid-performance landing in front of crowd
Lady Gaga painfully slipped and fell during a performance in Las Vegas this weekend. The singer, 39, performed her hit song Vanish Into You at her Mayhem Ball show at the T-Mobile Arena on Saturday night. The crowd were loving the hit song, and the star was met with huge applause as she entered the corridors around the stage to greet fans. Unfortunately for Gaga, she was wearing a long sparkled black cape, a matching leotard and a pair of knee-high boots, which didn't have quite enough friction against the slick floor. As she rounded the corner of the stage, she slipped and slapped into the ground, landing painfully on her hip. The star smacked into the ground directly in front of the audience, with many of them capturing the moment on their phones. Gaga quickly scrambled to her feet with the help of her boduuguards, who were quick to get her back up on her feet. Not skipping a beat, the singer continued to belt out her record and greet fans at the barricade at the front of the stage. Although she was able to persevere, fans were still concerned about her following the nasty tumble. 'Omg her hip!? 😣' said quemasjessi. 'Gaga please your hip gurlll we still have a full tour ahead of us 😭😭😭' said daniellekatsav. The singer's tour kicked off on Wednesday, July 16, last week in Paradise, Nevada and isn't set to conclude until January 2026, with a final performance scheduled to take place in Tokyo, Japan. On Tuesday, July 22, the star paid tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne while performing in San Francisco. The singer wore a top with his face on it and played one of his hit songs, Crazy Train. The Grammy award-winning artist proudly showed her shirt to the camera before headbanging along with her dancers. The group then joined hands and took a bow to the audience together, closing out the show. When the singer announced the tour in March 2025, Gaga was sued by Lost International, a lifestyle and surf brand. More Trending The group allegedly filed a $100,000,000 trademark infringement lawsuit against the Abracadabra hitmaker, alleging that Gaga has 'attempted to misappropriate the 'Mayhem' name, trademark, and stylized mark by releasing an album called Mayhem, launching a tour with that same name, and selling clothing and accessories with that name.' The suit, seen by Rolling Stone, was filed on Tuesday, March 25, and claims the group attempted to give notice about the alleged infringement. Gaga's lawyer hit back, stating it was a 'disappointing' and 'opportunistic abuse of the legal system'. Got a story? EastEnders star confirms she will be back after taking a break
EastEnders actress Ellie Dadd has confirmed she will be returning to Albert Square after taking a short break from the soap to star in a festive pantomime. The 20-year-old, best known for her role as Amy Mitchell, will be stepping into the spotlight this Christmas as Belle in Beauty and the Beast at Fairfield Halls in Croydon. Theatre is nothing new for Ellie, who began performing in pantomimes at just six years old. Before becoming a familiar face in EastEnders, she built an impressive stage career, including a run in the West End production of Matilda the Musical, where she played Amanda Thripp. Her early stage experience laid the foundation for her strong on-screen presence and emotional depth as an actress. Taking on the lead role in a Christmas panto is something of a homecoming for Ellie, who has spoken about her love of live theatre and the energy it brings. The production is set to run through the Christmas season, and Ellie's role as Belle is expected to be a highlight of the show. Despite her temporary absence from EastEnders, fans of the long-running soap can rest assured that Ellie will be back. She has made it clear that her time away from Walford is only a short break and that she will resume filming once the pantomime season wraps. Since taking over the role of Amy Mitchell in 2022, Ellie has become a key part of the show, tackling some of the most hard-hitting teen storylines in recent years. Her portrayal of Amy, particularly in storylines involving self-harm and mental health, received praise from viewers and critics alike, and even earned her a nomination for Best Young Performer at the Soap Awards in 2024. More Trending Outside of her role in EastEnders, Ellie has made a name for herself through other screen appearances, including a guest spot on Silent Witness in 2020 and her debut in the 2013 short film Lipstick. She trained at the prestigious D&B Academy of Performing Arts in Bromley, which also produced EastEnders alumni Tilly Keeper and Zack Morris. In fact, Ellie was stunned to discover that her former classmates were also part of the soap when she joined the cast. A full circle to be working alongside people she trained with as a child. Ellie has also built strong friendships with her younger EastEnders co-stars, including Bobby Brazier, who plays Freddie Slater. Their off-screen bond adds to the authentic chemistry that viewers see on screen, and it's clear that Ellie has become an integral part of the soap's younger generation View More » As she prepares to dazzle audiences on stage this winter, Ellie Dadd continues to show just how versatile and committed she is as a performer. Whether she's taking on heavy-hitting soap storylines or singing and dancing in front of a live audience, she brings warmth, energy, and depth to every role. Her fans can look forward to seeing her shine in Beauty and the Beast this Christmas, and then right back in the thick of the drama in Walford in the new year.
