New twist in Radhika Yadav murder case as best friend of tennis star reveals shocking truth

New Delhi: Radhika Yadav, the 25-year-old state-level tennis player, was brutally shot dead by her father, Deepak Yadav at the family's double-storey home in the upscale Sushant Lok area of Gurugram on Thursday, July 10. Deepak Yadav confessed to killing his daughter and was arrested. Incidentally, July 10 was the birthday of Radhika's mother and she was preparing a birthday dinner for her mother when she was allegedly shot dead by her father. Was it a case of Love Jihad? Radhika Yadav had appeared in a music video last year alongside an independent artist, and this may have caused tensions within her household. Authorities confirmed that this aspect will also be part of the ongoing investigation, reported news agency PTI, citing police officials. There were murmurs of a 'Love Jihad' involvement too. However, the Police have confirmed that they are not pursuing any communal or interfaith angles in their investigation. One of her friends also dismissed the Love Jihad claim in a video. Who is Himaanshika Singh Rajput? Amidst the melee, Himaanshika Singh Rajput, who claims to be Radhika's best friend and a tennis player herself, has accused Deepak Yadav, Radhika's father, of 'controlling' every aspect of her life. Himaanshika Singh Rajput has posted a video on Instagram in which she has said that 'her best friend Radhika was murdered by her own father who shot her five times. He had made life miserable for Radhika for many years with his dominating and controlling demeanour. He would also continuously criticise her to lower her self-esteem and pride. He would listen to so-called friends who were jealous of her success.' What did Himaanshika say on communal motive? As rumours circulated suggesting a communal motive behind the killing, Himaanshi categorically rejected the speculation. 'People are talking about love jihad, but where is the evidence? She didn't speak to many people. She was isolated. Her home was not a place of freedom.' Himanshika said that they had been friends for about 11-12 years and would share everything with each other. 'She worked very hard to reach the status which she reached by her own merit and then also built her own tennis academy. Everything was going smoothly and she was very happy at the professional front but her personal life was full of misery as her family and few other people could not bear to digest her success and independence. Her father in particular was very harsh on her and would shame her for wearing shorts, talking to boys, for living an independent,' says Himaanshi in the video. Watch The Video Here Police say five bullets were fired at Radhika out of which three hit her in the back and one in the shoulder. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but died of her injuries.

My brother had confessed to killing his daughter: Slain tennis player Radhika Yadav's uncle

In a new revelation in tennis player Radhika Yadav's murder case, her uncle said on Sunday (July 13, 2025) that accused Deepak Yadav had confessed to him about killing his daughter and said he should be hanged. Talking to reporters in Gurugram, Vijay Yadav, the elder brother of Deepak Yadav, also categorically denied that Radhika Yadav had a tennis academy. "Deepak's family was well off. Deepak had realised his mistake and there can be no greater punishment for someone than repentance. The whole family is in shock. Radhika also wanted to work in the advertising industry and become a model. She had composed a song and everyone in the family was happy about it," her uncle said. Murdered tennis player Radhika Yadav cremated, father says he was taunted for living off her income He said the accused loved his daughter very much and had not only spent crores of Rupees on her career, but had also devoted all his time to her. Meanwhile, a close friend of Deepak Yadav claimed that the accused had told him that he had committed a sin. He said the accused was proud of his daughter but could not handle certain comments of people. A WhatsApp chat of Radhika Yadav and her coach Ajay Yadav has surfaced, in which the former purportedly talked about leaving the house at any cost and also discussed going abroad. This has led to the speculation of a dispute between the tennis player and her father but police have clarified that this angle is not being probed. An assistant commissioner of police-rank officer said after Radhika Yadav suffered a shoulder injury about a year ago, she thought of changing her career path. 'First she decided to become a social-media influencer and later, started training budding tennis players. She had also made it clear to her father that she would not do anything that would defame him in the society,' the officer added. "Radhika started coaching other players but her father did not like it. Radhika's father Deepak was worried about what people would say if his daughter earned money through coaching and killed his daughter out of frustration," he said. The Gurugram Police said on Saturday (July 12, 2025) that the former State-level tennis player did not have her own academy and instead, used to train young players by booking tennis courts at different places, which her father had objected to. Murdered tennis player Radhika Yadav had no academy, trained aspirants by booking courts: Police The 25-year-old was allegedly shot dead at point-blank range by her 49-year-old father at the family's double-storey home in the Sushant Lok area in Gurugram's Sector 57 on Thursday (July 10, 2025.) A city court sent the accused to judicial custody on Saturday (July 12, 2025.) The court had remanded the accused in police custody for a day on Friday (July 11, 2025.) Police have discovered five bullets and a live cartridge from the accused's Sector-57 residence. The accused was also taken to a village in Pataudi as part of the investigation. Police had earlier said Radhika Yadav ran a tennis academy, which had become a bone of contention between her and her father as the latter was often taunted for living off his daughter's income. The accused was financially well off with a good rental income from various properties and hence, did not depend on his daughter's earnings, police had said, adding that he was depressed for the last couple of weeks owing to the taunts. 'Radhika did not have her own academy. She used to train aspirants by booking tennis courts at different places. Deepak had asked her several times to stop the training sessions, but she had refused. That was the main tussle between the father and the daughter,' an investigating officer said on Saturday. 'The accused has confessed to shooting his daughter dead,' police said. There have been claims that the accused was not happy with his daughter's social-media presence and her desire to become an influencer. Many people have claimed that a music video she featured in alongside an independent artiste had led her father to kill her. "The video was uploaded in 2023. It has no connection with the killing. The accused has repeatedly said that he did not want his daughter to earn through training other players," Inspector Vinod Kumar from the Sector 56 police station said. According to a close relative, the accused had supported his daughter in her tennis career since her childhood. 'He was disturbed by his daughter holding training sessions for budding players and had asked her several times to stop it, which she had refused,' the relative said. Radhika Yadav received four bullets, three in the back and one in the shoulder, according to her post-mortem report. Her last rites were conducted at the family's village in Wazirabad on Friday (July 11, 2025.)

Father of 25-year-old Haryana tennis player Radhika Yadav, who shot her dead with a licensed revolver on Thursday, said he had lost his mind and killed his daughter in a conversation with his brother shortly after the crime. Deepak Yadav, the father of Radhika Yadav accused of killing her on Thursday, July 10 (ANI Grab ) Vijay Yadav, Radhika Yadav's uncle said 'there is no bigger punishment than realisation when a person himself is guilty.' "Mereko ye kaha ki bhai, maine kanya vadh kar diya hai. Mujhe maar nahi batayi… kehta bas bhai dimag kharab ho gaya tha [He said brother, I killed my daughter, kill me… he did not tell any reason… He said that he had lost his mind," Vijay Yadav said. In my opinion, she had not opened any academy of her own... These people were rich from the beginning. Her father has worked very hard. Radhika Yadav murder: Dubai-based Indian actor denies rumours of involvement in case

Indian actor and singer Inam-ul-Haq, who recently relocated to Dubai, said he is in disbelief after being pulled into controversy surrounding the murder of former tennis player Radhika Yadav — a woman he said he met just once at a brief music video shoot over a year ago. 'I've seen this kind of thing happening to people in films. Now it's happening to me,' the 27-year-old told Khaleej Times on Saturday (July 12). 'It feels like a nightmare, and I hope I wake up.' Radhika, 25, was allegedly shot dead by her father, Deepak Yadav, at their Gurugram home on July 10. She was reportedly preparing a meal for her mother's birthday when she was shot four times in the back. Her father, 49, has confessed to the killing, with investigators citing "social pressure, ego, and a patriarchal mindset as contributing factors". Inam said the only connection to Radhika is a short music video they appeared in together — a clip which is now widely circulating online. He fears it is being weaponised to fuel baseless and unfounded narratives. 'I'm especially disturbed that this is being twisted into a Hindu-Muslim story with phrases like Love Jihad thrown around casually. There was nothing of the sort. We worked together once, and that's it. Everything else is rubbish," the actor said. Inam clarified that the tennis event where he first heard of Radhika took place in New Delhi, not Dubai as erroneously reported by some Indian media outlets. At the time, he was based in Mumbai and working as a creative head for the Tennis Premier League. 'Someone mentioned a young tennis player who was interested in acting. I never met her then. We just followed each other on social media afterward, like many people do.' It wasn't until a year later, when casting for a music video in Noida, that they crossed paths in person. 'That was the first and only time I met Radhika face-to-face. She came in a car with her mother, we exchanged pleasantries, and got on with the shoot,' he said. 'It lasted five or six hours at most. After that, we never met in person.' Watch the video below, as shared by Inam: Inam said the song for the music video had been shared with Radhika before the shoot. 'During the shoot, she mentioned that her father really liked it. She said, 'Bahut achcha laga unko' (He really liked it)." He remembers Radhika as 'vivacious' and 'very comfortable in front of the camera.' 'She didn't look nervous or unsure, it didn't seem like her first time acting. But professionally, that was the extent of it. She was one of many actors I've worked with. We gave her a token amount for the unpaid project, and that was it.' Inam, who moved to Dubai three months ago to set up business, Inam said he learned of her death around Friday noon. 'I was stunned into silence. Since then, I've received more than 150 calls. People are dragging me into something I have absolutely no connection with beyond that one shoot. It's deeply distressing.' He reiterated: 'I only met her once during that video shoot. That was the first and last time we interacted in person.' According to police, Radhika's father said he faced repeated taunts from villagers who questioned his daughter's independence and his reliance on her income. 'Some even questioned her character,' he allegedly told investigators. He reportedly asked her to shut down her tennis academy, and when she refused, he claimed it hurt his dignity.

‘I committed kanya vadh… Write FIR in such a way I get hanged': What Radhika Yadav's father told cops after arrest

Deepak Yadav, father of state-level tennis player Radhika Yadav, accused of his daughter's murder is repentant and wants 'to be hanged', according to Deepak's elder brother, Vijay Yadav. Condemning the murder, Vijay told the Indian Express on Saturday that his brother said he has committed kanya vadh (female slaughter). 'Whatever happened was wrong. In fact, when I was with him at the station, he told the police, 'Write my statement and the FIR in such a way that I get hanged'. He said he has committed kanya vadh (female slaughter).' A Gurugram court sent Deepak to 14 days judicial custody on Saturday. Twenty-five-year-old Radhika Yadav was shot dead by her father, allegedly over a disagreement regarding her tennis academy in Sector 57 in Gurugram. On July 11, her body was cremated in Haryana's Gurugram after the post-mortem examination. The team of doctors performing the examination confirmed multiple gunshot wounds, an ANI report said. A police spokesperson said that they were not summoning anyone else to join the investigation at this stage, as reported by the Indian Express. Gurugram Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sandeep Kumar on Friday informed that the tennis player was shot dead by her father, Deepak Yadav, a result of a disagreement over her tennis academy. Speaking to ANI, Kumar said the father, who runs a rental property business, was unhappy with his daughter running the academy, citing their financially prosperous background as a reason for her not to work. Kumar further elaborated, 'Despite being told not to run the academy, Radhika refused to stop working, which eventually and ultimately led to a huge disagreement. Going further, the accused got angry and shot his daughter with his licensed gun and killed her.' The Police are also investigating a music video in which Radhika Yadav had played a part. As per sources, Rekha's father had asked her to delete the video from her social media. However, police has found no connection between the murder and the music video, the report added. Inam-ul-Haq, co-actor of the late tennis player in the music video, has said that he had no connection to her murder and had not been in touch with her after the video shoot. He said, "I met her (Radhika) for the first time in the Tennis Premier League, which was held in Delhi. After that, I met her in a music video. She was an actor to me. I have worked with many actresses... She just came for the shooting of the music video, and then she left... We just gave her a good luck amount. The production of the video was unpaid. After that, we never contacted." (With inputs from agencies)
