Conference on dementia, cognitive health begins
Mysuru: A two-day international conference titled CogniSENSE+ 2025 focussing on the congregation of scientific disciplines working in areas related to dementia awareness, healthy ageing and cognitive health began at JSS Hospital on Thursday. The event brought together experts, researchers and policymakers from India and abroad to address the growing global challenge of cognitive and sensory decline and the urgent need for integrated public health strategies to enhance and ensure quality of life among the elderly. After inaugurating the conference, Dr Radha AS Murthy, president, Dementia India Alliance, highlighted the increasing dementia burden and called for greater public awareness to combat the stigma associated with cognitive decline. She also underscored the necessity of integrated care systems and enhanced training for caregivers and healthcare professionals. Dr Deepti Navaratna, TV Raman Pai Chair professor, National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bengaluru, focused on domains of Indian classical music, neuro-musicology and educating through music. Dr. Narayanappa D, Principal, JSS Medical College, highlighted the need for patient-centric dementia care and the responsibility of academic institutions in enhancing medical education on cognitive health. More than 250 participants from across the nation are participating in this conference.

Conference on cognitive health and purposeful longevity at JSS AHER in Mysuru from July 10
The JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru, will host CogniSENSE+ 2025, a global interdisciplinary conference on cognitive health, hearing access, and purposeful longevity, on July 10 and 11. Organised by the School of Public Health at JSS AHER in collaboration with the JSS Medical College, the two-day event aims to promote cognitive wellness and inclusive ageing among diverse populations. Over 250 participants from across the country are expected to attend, the organisers said at a press conference here on Tuesday. The conference will feature five international experts from the University of Georgia, Ohio University, Oklahoma State University, and Birmingham University, along with 17 national experts representing institutions such as NIMHANS, AIISH, JSS AHER, and others. The inaugural event on July 10 from 10:30 am to 11:15 am will be attended by Radha Murthy, president, Dementia India Alliance; Deepti Navaratna, T.V. Raman Pai chair professor, National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), and Rajani P., Deputy Director – Mental Health, Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka. The scientific programme will include keynote addresses, research presentations, panel discussions, and solution showcases covering topics such as dementia care innovations, hearing rehabilitation, cognitive neuroscience, as well as assistive technologies, mental well-being and social inclusion, and community-driven approaches to healthy ageing. JSS Medical College principal Narayanappa stated that the conference seeks to redefine longevity by focusing not just on lifespan, but also on meaningful living, social connection, and improved quality of life.
