Auric expansion: Industries seek mass rapid transport system, eway
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The proposed expansion of the Aurangabad Industrial City (Auric) by an additional 10,000 acres has spurred industry leaders to demand critical infrastructure upgrades, including a mass rapid transport system (MRTS) and a greenfield expressway connecting Pune. These demands were presented during a discussion with Amardeep Singh Bhatia, secretary of the department for promotion of industry and internal trade (DPIIT), who visited AURIC on Saturday. Office-bearers from the Chamber of Marathwada Industries and Agriculture (CMIA) and other industry bodies also advocated for a dedicated logistics hub and the establishment of a national-level educational institution within Auric. "Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar currently lacks an efficient public transport system. With AURIC poised to generate significant employment, a MRTS is essential to facilitate commuting between the city and the industrial hub. Such a system needs to be planned well in advance," he said. Machhar also emphasized on the urgency of constructing a Greenfield expressway linking the Shendra-Bidkin nodes of Auric with Pune. "The expressway would connect two major industrial hubs of Maharashtra. This will facilitate swift movement of both people and cargo," he added. The CMIA leaders said a logistics hub also needs to be set up on the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi highway. "The Auric, Samruddhi highway, and upcoming dry port at Jalna are three main projects of a larger development plan envisaged by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. This collective infrastructure needs to be augmented with the logistics hub," the CMIA said. Setting up an IIT, business school, or school of planning and architecture at AURIC, road connectivity covering Shendra-Bidkin-Waluj-Samruddhi expressway, and improved air connectivity for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar are some of the demands the industry bodies put forth before the DPIIT secretary. While the Aurangabad Industrial City Auric) is a greenfield industrial smart city taking shape over 10,000 acres of area as a part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), the DPIIT secretary on Saturday announced an additional 10,000 acres of land for the expansion of the project.

Bhupendra Patel unveils Rs 1,156 crore development projects in Vadodara
Vadodara: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Friday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development projects worth Rs 1,156 crore in Vadodara. Addressing the audience, CM Patel remarked on the importance of digital discipline, saying that people, especially the youth, must learn to manage their time on mobile devices. "If we can't step away from screens ourselves, how can we expect our children to?" he asked. He also stressed that the government must act despite criticism, adding, "When the government does something, some people immediately rise in opposition. But how can we shut our hearts to development?" Highlighting recent initiatives, the Chief Minister said, "Just yesterday, development projects worth over Rs 600 crore were launched in Panchmahal, and today, Vadodara received projects worth Rs 1,156 crore." "Earlier, even getting a project, worth Rs 1 lakh, sanctioned was difficult. Now, people have faith that their demands will be met under this administration," he said. The Chief Minister encouraged citizens to approach the government with concerns, but urged them to follow decorum. He added that occasional administrative lapses should not demoralise citizens. "If there's a negative issue, investigate and fix it. Mistakes happen when so much work is underway, but it doesn't mean the government is inattentive," CM Patel said. CM Patel pointed out how Gujarat's infrastructure and housing schemes have made national headlines. "We've provided over 8 lakh houses in Gujarat. Compare the last 25 years with the four decades before, and you'll see the transformation," he stated. "India was once doubted, but now we are being discussed across the world. Even a common man in India can now live with pride," he said. Speaking on India's growing global stature, CM Patel noted, "Earlier, we had to wait years to match global standards. Today, Indian-made goods are exported across the world - this is our strength. Look at how people react now when they see an Indian passport; it's a matter of pride." He reiterated the government's commitment to inclusive development. "Vadodara stands to benefit from the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor and the Dedicated Freight Corridor. The Bullet Train will also pass through here. Vadodara is now a hub in the global aerospace map," he said. He added that work on the Vishwamitri River is underway to double its flow capacity. "Vadodara is one of the fastest-growing and cleanest cities in the state. We're hopeful that this cleanliness becomes second nature. Let's not worry about what others are doing - let's focus on what we must do," CM Patel said. The Chief Minister ended with a call for holistic well-being, urging people to utilise schemes like Ayushman Bharat while also embracing preventive health practices like yoga.

100 trains, 12 platforms, airport-like facilities and...: New 'king' of railway network to be built in...., It's name is... The pace of development of Western Uttar Pradesh is happening at a lightening speed. A grand and ultra-modern railway station 'Greater Noida Terminal' is going to be built in Bodaki area of Gautam Buddha Nagar district, which will be the biggest railway terminal of western Uttar Pradesh till date. This will not be just a station, but a multimodal transport hub (MMTH) that will turn Greater Noida into India's smartest railway connection hub. The station, to be built on 176 hectares of land near Bodaki, will be an integral part of the MMTH project, with 46 hectares of land alone being used for the railway terminal. The station has been specifically designated as a 'mega terminal'. It will have 12 large platforms, which will handle around 100 trains every day, including high-speed trains like the Vande Bharat Express . The terminal has been designed as a complete transit experience , not just a place to catch a train. It will be built as a multi-level structure with train movement below and amenities like retail stores, office space and guest houses above. It will also have hi-tech features like state-of-the-art toilets, food court, waiting lounge and digitalised information system to give passengers an airport-like feel. The initial estimated cost of this mega project was around Rs 1,850 crore , but due to rising construction costs and expansion of facilities, its cost has now almost doubled. The built-up area of the station will be 70,000 square metres. There will also be 63 yard lines here, where maintenance and parking of trains will be done. This mega terminal is an important project of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). The terminal will also ensure direct metro and bus connectivity to Noida, Greater Noida, Delhi and other areas of NCR. It will include ISBT (Interstate Bus Terminal), local bus terminals and a metro station, connecting the entire region with a robust and integrated transit system. The project was declared a special railway project in December 2024, which has accelerated the land acquisition for it. According to officials, now only some land belonging to the railways is left to be acquired, which will be completed in two months under the Railway Act. Acquisition of other lands has already been completed.
