Lady Gaga describes Doechii as ‘immediately legendary'
The US rapper and singer, 26, who recently performed at Glastonbury, is best known for her hit song Denial Is A River. The Poker Face star was reportedly an inspiration to Doechii, whose real name is Jaylah Hickmon, when she was growing up. Speaking about Doechii, who appears on the cover of British Vogue, Gaga told the magazine: 'You don't often see someone come out of the gate with a pen that feels immediately legendary. That's Doechii to me. 'I fell in love with her music and her raw, deeply personal perspective. The power in her words, her vulnerability, the way she rhymes with this wild mix of audacity and emotional precision – it struck me to the core.' Doechii presented Gaga with the Innovator award at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards, describing the singer as a 'lifeline'. She said: 'Lady Gaga wasn't just a pop star she was a lifeline. Gaga taught us that it was OK to be our real selves.' Doechii released her first EP, Oh The Places You'll Go, in 2020, and one of her tracks, Yucky Blucky Fruitcake, went viral. Her rise to fame, however, came a few years later with the release of Alligator Bites Never Heal in 2024, which includes the songs Denial Is A River, Catfish and Nissan Altima. Months later the rapper secured her first Grammy award for Best Rap Album, with nominations for Best Rap Performance and Best New Albums at the 67th award ceremony. She is also behind the viral hit Anxiety, after the YouTube video of Doechii singing the song, which samples the 2011 hit Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye and Kimbra, resurfaced. The positive online response encouraged the rapper to release the full version, which marked the first time she reached number three in the UK singles chart.

Amid festival season, headscarves are proving to be an It girl's best friend
The tides have shifted. Concertgoers from all around the world have tasted the magical sandy Colorado desert at Coachella in Indio, California back in April and now they are relishing the farm life at Glastonbury Festival in Somerset, England. And believe it or not, the latter is getting a leg up this year, if not for its understated celebrity pool (think seasoned regulars like Alexa Chung, Harry Styles and everyone's favourite duo Daisy Edgar Jones and Paul Mescal), but for its show-stopping headliners and surprise guests. Day one saw Doechii delivering yet another masterclass in hip-hop with the rising rap sensation serving up hits like 'Nissan Altima', 'Denial Is A River' and more whilst clad in custom Vivienne Westwood. Following that high, grunge-pop princess Olivia Rodrigo made her 'Glastonberry' debut an unforgettable one—by bringing out The Cure's Robert Smith as they belted out the band's 'Friday I'm In Love' and 'Just Like Heaven'. Getty As expected in Glastonbury fashion, Hunter boots ran the gamut but if there was another reigning takeaway from the style set, it would be the headscarves spotted on many a It girl in the crowd. Gracie Abrams made sure of that, first by donning a red paisley number while making her Glastonbury debut. One that chimed in with sweet insouciance against her signature bob. On the other hand, the ever-so-elegant Anya Taylor-Joy spun hers in a chic braided do that we would definitely be replicating for the sweltering days ahead. @defender The silky accessory isn't just a surefire way to switch up your hair (even if it's not at its best) but it can also introduce a pop of colour to a simple monochromatic look. Something tells us, it's just the beginning of headscarf season—especially with more festivals in store for us this summer. Below, see Vogue Singapore's picks to ace the emerging trend. 1 / 7 Longchamp French Bandana Silk scarf 50, $205 Available at Longchamp. 2 / 7 Hermès Les Chevaux Dechaines scarf 90, $950 Available at Hermès. 3 / 7 Gucci printed silk carré, $850 Available at Gucci. 4 / 7 Longchamp Les Artisans de Paris Silk scarf 70, $290 Available at Longchamp. 5 / 7 Ferragamo floral-print silk scarf, $878.67 Available at Farfetch. 6 / 7 Toteme stripe print scarf, $371 Available at Farfetch. 7 / 7 Playground Memories Silk Scarf, $128 Available at Binary Style.

Glastonbury shut stage down ahead of rappers' performance as they struggle with overcrowding again
GLASTONBURY Festival is dealing with a new overcrowding issue after declaring fans to AVOID one of the major stages. As Neil Young took to the main Pyramid stage as the headliner of the evening, pop fans have ditched the rocker in favour of other acts. Advertisement Charli XCX is set to perform on the Other Stage at 10.30pm, while American rapper Doechii will appear on the third biggest stage, Woodsies, at 10.45pm. 5 Glastonbury has come under fire for its crowd control Credit: Getty 5 Doechii is set to close the Woodsies tent at 10.45 Credit: Getty 5 As Neil Young took to the main Pyramid stage, thousands flocked to the Other Stage and Woodsies instead Credit: PA However, nearly an hour before the set was due to start, the crowd at Woodsies had got so big that they were forced to close access. The team simply posted a message on X (formerly Twitter), declaring: "No access to Woodsies. Please head to another area of the site - thank you." Doechii – who has topped the charts this year with her songs Denial Is A River and Anxiety – is still set to perform as planned. Advertisement This is the second time Woodsies has been forced to shut down for crowd control – with Lorde's early Friday morning surprise set also causing chaos. The New Zealand singer appeared on stage to celebrate the release of her new album, Virgin, in a last minute appearance. So the news came as a massive annoyance to ticketholders, who have criticised the team for poor organisation. They've been particularly critical of putting big names like Charli XCX and Doechii against each other on the line-up, and on smaller stages that don't have the capacity needed for the crowd. Advertisement "Terrible programming throughout, you need a massive re think for your next festival," wrote one. "doechii and charli clashing at glasto is EVIL WORK!!" said another. Glastonbury chaos as bosses are forced to SHUT part of festival as Lorde performs surprise set "Glastonbury really looked at all the vibrant amazing young artists around and said "nah, lets pump the big slots full of elderly white men". I'm not being funny but I'm struggling to stay awake for Doechii watching Neil Young..." noted a third. And a fourth said: "It's full to capacity? Nobody's at the Pyramid Stage for Neil Young. Everyone is either at Woodsies or the Other Stage for Charli XCX Advertisement "Glastonbury has shit the bed a bit here. Field packed for Charli XCX. Woodsies closed an hour ahead of time for Scissor Sisters. Doechii still to come. Pyramid very sparse for Neil Young. Meanwhile PULP do an hour in the afternoon and fill the space" 5 Glastonbury organisers have urged attendees not to go to the Woodsies stage Credit: Getty
