Imtiaz Ali Defends Diljit Dosanjh Amid Backlash Over Hania Aamir Collaboration And Viral Remark
Mumbai: Actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh has been facing a lot of backlash for working with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in "Sardaar Ji 3". Recently, a video from one of the concerts from his Dil-Luminati tour has been going viral on social media. Hitting back at the trolls, Diljit was heard saying, "Agar khilaaf hone do, jaan thodi hai. Agar khilaaf do, jaan thodi hai. Yeh sab dhuaah hai, aasmaan thodi hai. Agar khilaaf hone do, jaan thodi hai. Yeh sab dhuaah hai, aasmaan thodi hai. Sabhi ka khoon shaamil hai iss mitti mein, kisi ke baap ka Hindustan thodi hai." These lines were met with a phenomenal response at the concert. Now, singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya has fired back at Diljit for his "kisi ke baap ka Hindustan thodi hai" remark. He took to his Instagram handle and dropped a video including Diljit's clip from the concert. Bhattachary further incorporated his own reaction to the statement saying, "Hindustan hamare baap ka hamare baap ke baap ke baap ke purvajo ka hain." The post ended with a picture of Bhattachary holding the Tiranga with "Sare jahan se acha" playing in the backdrop. "Hindustan Hamare BAAP ka hai..", the singer captioned the picture. In the meantime, renowned filmmaker Imtiaz Ali came in support of his 'Amar Singh Chamkila' actor amidst the ongoing controversy. Calling Diljit a true 'patriot at heart', the 'Tamasha' maker said "I don't know the details, but casting someone isn't the decision of the actor. I don't know how it went, but I know that uske andar desh prem bahut zyada hai (He loves his country too much). Jo log dekh paayenge unke andar ke sach ko, unko ye samajh mein aa jaayega (People who can see the truth, will understand)." He added that Diljit is not someone who fakes things. "Fakeness ke saath woh kuch nahi karta hai (He doesn't fake things). No one asked him to do it. At the end of all his concerts, he says, "Main hoon Punjab", with the Indian flag," Imtiaz shared.

Sardaar Ji 3 Row: After Calling Diljit Dosanjh "Fake", Mika Singh Asks Him To Apologise For "Mistake"
Day after attacking Diljit Dosanjh for his decision to release Sardaar Ji 3, featuring Pakistani actor Hania Aamir, overseas, Mika Singh said Diljit will be forgiven for his "mistake" if he apologises and remove all "objectionable" scenes from the film. Mika Singh, earlier, slammed Diljit as "fake" singer who betrayed his fans' trust. What's Happening Mika Singh shared a new post on Instagram and wrote, "Guys, I understand, we all make mistakes in life. But when we do, there's one simple word that holds power: Sorry. If Diljit made a mistake, we're all willing to forgive. But he must apologise and remove all the objectionable scenes from the movie! That's it. No hate. Just respect. Desh pehle!" On Tuesday night (June 24), Mika Singh attacked Diljit Dosanjh over not withholding his decision to release Sardaar Ji 3 overseas, despite triggering social media backlash and threats from film bodies. "Before releasing any content that involves artists from across the border, they should think twice-especially when our nation's dignity is involved. "There was a film featuring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor that many of us opposed, and yet, some still don't seem to get the message. What's more shocking is that a fake singer, after doing 10 shows in India with thousands of fans buying tickets, had now disappeared - leaving fans betrayed and helpless," Mika wrote in his previous Intagram post. Mika was referring to Diljit's successful Dil-Luminati world tour in the post. Background Diljit's upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3 landed in trouble after the trailer released on Sunday (June 22) and it featured Pakistani actor Hania Aamir. In the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, film body like the Federation of Western India Cine Employees banned Pakistani artistes working in India. Diljit, who's one of the producers of the film, skipped the film's India release. The film is slated to release overseas (including Pakistan) on June 27. Defending his decision to release the film, Diljit Dosanjh, during a conversation with BBC Asian Network, said that producers' heft money was invested in the film. The shooting was done much before the Pahalgam attack happened, said the Punjabi singer. In A Nutshell

One For The Books, Literally: Canadian University To Teach Course On Diljit Dosanjh
Last Updated: Offered through The Creative School, the course will examine the 'cultural, musical and diasporic relevance' of Diljit Dosanjh's work. Punjabi actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh is set to become the subject of a new university course at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) in Canada. Offered through The Creative School, the course will examine the 'cultural, musical and diasporic relevance" of Diljit Dosanjh's work, Billboard Canada reported. Described as the first of its kind, the course is scheduled to launch in late 2026 and will focus on Diljit Dosanjh's influence across music, film and global pop culture. Dr. Charlie Wall-Andrews, Assistant Professor at TMU, said, 'Toronto Metropolitan University is excited to pioneer a course on Diljit Dosanjh, whose journey embodies the intersection of culture, identity and global music entrepreneurship." 'His rise illustrates the cultural influence and economic potential of Punjabi music on the world stage. By examining his impact, students will explore how regional sounds shape global pop culture, mobilize diasporic communities and contribute to sustainable creative economies rooted in authenticity," she added. Sonali Singh, CEO of Ripple Effects and Diljit Dosanjh's business manager, called the development a long overdue recognition of South Asian creative achievement. 'His journey represents far more than commercial success. It stands for cultural pride, creative freedom, and global representation for Punjabi and South Asian communities," Sonali Singh said, adding, 'Seeing his impact formally recognized in an academic space is not only powerful; it's long overdue." The announcement was made during the Billboard Summit at NXNE in Toronto. Diljit Dosanjh, currently on his 'Dil-Luminati" world tour, is set to perform across France, Germany, Ireland, the UK and the Netherlands in the coming months. This milestone comes amid controversy around Diljit Dosanjh's upcoming film 'Sardaar Ji 3," which features Pakistani actor Hania Aamir. The All Indian Cine Workers Association has criticised the casting, citing tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack. 'This decision comes at a time when the entire nation—140 crore Indians, the government, the opposition, and citizens across all walks of life—are united against Pakistan and standing in solidarity with the families of the martyred," the organisation said in a statement. ‘Stop working with Diljit'—Sardaar Ji 3 faces boycott call. AICWA opposes Hania Aamir
'Have you no shame?' asked Gupta, addressing the singer and actor, who recently held his successful Dil-Luminati tour across India. 'Diljit has shown such bravado in going against India, from where he earns, and against his fans and is releasing his picture overseas. We will not allow the film's release in India ,' said AICWA founder and president Suresh Shyamlal Gupta in a video statement. New Delhi: Diljit Dosanjh's Sardaar Ji 3 , whose trailer was released on Sunday, is now facing calls of boycott in India for the presence of Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in the project. The All Indian Cine Workers Association has warned Diljit of consequences and vowed to not allow the release of the film. 'You are taking actors from a terrorist country. We will protest against this. We are also appealing to everyone from the industry to stop working with Diljit. We are boycotting him, his songs and any future concerts,' said Gupta in the video. Sardaar Ji 3 is a sequel in the successful Punjabi franchise Sardaar ji, whose first installment came out in 2015. On Sunday, Diljit shared the film's trailer on Instagram and wrote, 'Sardaar Ji 3 Releasing 27th June OVERSEAS Only'. The trailer features Hania Aamir in various scenes, and also in a song along with Punjabi actor Neeru Bajwa. The trailer of the film on YouTube has been made unavailable for viewing in India. Also read: Casting Sitaare Zameen Par wasn't easy. It made makers question their own idea of 'normal' 'Take a stand' The X post accompanying Gupta's video also pointed out how AICWA had earlier boycotted Pakistani artists after the 2019 Pulawama attack. 'We had warned the Indian film and music industry that any violation of this patriotic stand would face strict consequences,' read the post. After the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, most of them tourists, in Kashmir, Pakistani artists including Fawad Khan, Mahirah Khan, Mawra Hocane, and Hania Aamir were boycotted in India, with their Instagram handles also blocked in the country. Fawad Khan's upcoming film Abir Gulaal, starring Vaani Kapoor, was also stalled indefinitely. Hania, along with other Pakistani actors, had condemned India's military strike on Pakistan in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack. In an Instagram story, she had written 'cowardly', sharing a post criticising India's military action. Sardarji 3's trailer also prompted people to comment on Hania's stance during Operation Sindoor. 'This woman spit venom when our people died. There are gazillions of artists across the world. Why choose her?' asked one user. Another wrote, 'In the next movie, cast Asim Munir,' referring to the Pakistan Army chief. Meanwhile, AICWA's post urged everyone to stand firm in the decision to boycott Diljit. 'If the film industry and the people of India do not take a stand now, it will send the wrong message globally. National interest must come before personal profit or popularity,' it read.
