Johor teen pleads guilty to sexually assaulting girlfriend, 16

(Pexels pic) PETALING JAYA : A 19-year-old boy pleaded guilty in the Muar sessions court today to two charges of sexual assault earlier this month. He was charged with sexually assaulting his 16-year-old girlfriend at a house in Batu Pahat, Johor at 12.45pm on July 2, Buletin TV3 reported. He was charged under Sections 14(a) and 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provides for up to 20 years' imprisonment and whipping per charge. The prosecution was managed by deputy public prosecutor Diyana Najihah Fauzi while the teenager was unrepresented. Diyana said she would not offer bail as the accused had already pleaded guilty. Judge Nariman Badruddin allowed for no bail to be offered and set July 23 for case mention and sentencing.

(Reuters pic) PETALING JAYA : A 17-year-old boy pleaded guilty in the sessions and magistrates' courts today to raping a student from a university in Muar, Johor, and extorting her boyfriend on July 7. He pleaded guilty to the charges under Sections 376(1) and 384 of the Penal Code, Berita Harian reported. However, his friend Alif Hakim Hamil, 19, who was also charged with the same crime, pleaded not guilty to both charges. According to the first charge read out in the sessions court, the duo allegedly raped the 20-year-old student in an oil palm plantation between 9pm and 11.30pm on July 7. The charge under Section 376(1) for rape provides for imprisonment of up to 20 years and a whipping. The prosecution was managed by deputy public prosecutor Diyana Najihah Fauzi while Alif was represented by lawyer Salmi Hamdan Sabran. Sessions court judge Nariman Badruddin set Aug 14 for the handover of documents and allowed bail of RM8,000 for Alif, on the condition that he report to a police station once a month and refrain from disturbing the witnesses until the disposal of the case. In the magistrates' court, they were charged with extorting the girl's 21-year-old boyfriend for RM250 in cash at the same time, date and place. The charge under Section 384 provides for imprisonment of up to 10 years, a fine, whipping, or any two of the punishments. Magistrate Suzana Mokhtar set Sept 28 for the submission of the social welfare department's report on the 17-year-old, and the handover of documents for Alif. The court allowed the 17-year-old bail of RM3,000 for both charges, while Alif was released on bail of RM2,000 for the extortion charge. The prosecution was managed by deputy public prosecutors Amirah Sapian and Nur Ameerah Allaudeen.

The self-employed man pleaded guilty after the charge was read before Muar sessions court judge Sayani Nor, Harian Metro reported. He was charged with sexually communicating with his 14-year-old daughter, his only child, at a house in Batu Pahat, Johor, at around 4pm on June 16. The charge was framed under Section 11(1)(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, punishable by a maximum three years in jail upon conviction. The charge was also read with Section 16 of the same Act, which provided for an additional sentence of up to five years and two strokes of the rotan due to the relationship of trust between him and the victim. Deputy public prosecutor Diyana Najihah Fauzi prosecuted while the man was unrepresented. According to the case facts, the victim contacted her aunt earlier this month to express fears that her father might act inappropriately towards her. On the day of the incident, the girl had rejected her father's advances and left his bedroom. The aunt then asked one of her children to pick the girl up from the house.
