Cellphones stolen at Bok game: Gauteng duo to appear in Mpumalanga court

Cellphones stolen at Bok game: Gauteng duo to appear in Mpumalanga court An otherwise pleasant and well-organised rugby match left some supporters as the unfortunate victims of opportunistic theft. According to Lowvelder, Mpumalanga SAPS confirmed that two suspects were arrested at the stadium on Saturday and are expected to appear in the Nelspruit Magistrate's Court today. 'We can confirm that the two suspects were found at the stadium in possession of seven cellphones, believed to be stolen,' said provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli. 'The suspects both hail from Gauteng, and their arrest will be a lesson to others who believe Mpumalanga is a playground for thieves and robbers,' he added. The suspects were charged with theft and unlawful possession of suspected stolen property. Following reports of theft at the fixture, Lowvelder asked readers on its Facebook page about their experience. Several said their cellphones were stolen during the match. Mdhluli said detectives have identified the lawful owners of four of the recovered phones. The remaining devices are yet to be claimed. Police investigations are ongoing. eSwatini man in court after 4-year-old girl's half-burnt body found in Mpumalanga

eSwatini man in court after 4-year-old girl's half-burnt body found in Mpumalanga A man from eSwatini appeared in court on Monday after the half-burnt body of a girl (4) was found in the Kaapmuiden area in Mpumalanga last week. Lowvelder reports Sanele Fakudze (37) appeared in the KaNyamazane Magistrate's Court on charges of murder and attempted murder after he was arrested on Friday, July 4. His arrest followed the discovery of the little girl's half-burnt body by a farmer in Kaapmuiden on Thursday, July 3. The mother (28) of the girl was found unconscious along a road in Kaapmuiden a few days earlier, on June 28. Emergency services were called to the scene, and the woman was treated and taken to a hospital for medical treatment. According to a report, the mother and her daughter were last seen getting into the suspect's vehicle. Earlier, the pair were reported missing at the KaNyamazane Police Station, said Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Brigadier Donald Mdhluli. 'The suspect is said to be the woman's male friend,' added Mdhluli. After the police discovered that the injured woman and the deceased baby were the ones who had been reported missing, they intensified their investigations. This led to the arrest of Fakudze. The acting provincial police commissioner, Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi, has condemned these acts of violence. He vowed that the police would continue to act decisively against GBVF. Mkhwanazi urged GBVF victims not to withdraw charges against suspects. Breaking news at your fingertips… Follow Caxton Network News on Facebook and join our WhatsApp channel. Nuus wat saakmaak.
