PC Hedditch said the force was "carrying out a number of inquiries" and urged any witnesses or those with dashcam, home CCTV or doorbell camera footage to come Moncrieff, area manager of Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: "We are very saddened that this has happened at one of our fire stations. "The impact was greater than the loss of two pieces of equipment, it meant the Ferndown crew were unavailable to attend incidents for much of Saturday, and we now have to use public money to buy replacement items."The offenders also damaged part of the fire station to get in, which has now been repaired, again at a cost to public funding." Firefighters tackle heath fires at nature reserves

Firefighters are tackling two fires on heathland at nature reserves in Poole, Dorset. The first, at Upton Heath, broke out shortly before 23:45 BST and covered over 37 acres (15 hectares). Shortly before 05:30, crews were sent to a second fire across about six acres (2.4 hectares) at nearby Canford Heath. Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said the Upton Heath fire had been contained and the Canford Heath blaze was out at about 07:00, with crews working to dampen down hotspots. The Upton Heath reserve is recognised internationally for the rarity of its wildlife, including the smooth snake and sand lizard. The 850 acres (344 hectares) of Canford Heath are a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Wildfires also broke out in Moors Valley Country Park on Monday and near its main entrance on Tuesday afternoon. The country park near Ringwood on the Dorset and Hampshire border remains closed. The fire service had warned people earlier in the week to take care outdoors during the dry weather with an amber wildfire alert in place across its area. The causes of the fires are not yet known. Country park to remain closed after wildfires

A country park that has been hit by multiple wildfires will remain closed over safety fears. Staff at Moors Valley Country Park, on the Dorset and Hampshire border, have asked the public not to enter the park itself, or the surrounding woodland. It comes after wildfires started in the park on Monday and near the main entrance on Tuesday afternoon, with further hotspots then found on Wednesday. In a statement, the park urged people to wait for confirmation the area is safe. Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) said crews discovered hotspots during a reinspection near Ringwood. The causes of the fires are not yet known, but they have destroyed several hectares of woodland. No-one has been injured. A park statement said: "Updates including when we will reopen will be provided on our website and social media channels as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding." The fire service explained an amber wildfire alert would be in place for the area it covers until the end of the week. Area manager for DWFRS, Ant Bholah, previously said: "While the glorious weather is very welcome.... it does mean the ground and foliage are dry, leading to a greater risk of fire spreading if something happens to cause ignition."
