‘Project Hail Mary' Trailer: Ryan Gosling Is a Science Teacher Trapped in Space

Ryan Gosling puts the 'not' in 'astronaut' in the first trailer for 'Project Hail Mary,' Amazon MGM Studios' adaptation of the Andy Weir novel of the same name. The film hails from 'Jump Street' and 'Spider-Verse' filmmakers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, with 'The Martian' screenwriter Drew Goddard on script duties for a story that's not entirely dissimilar from that previous Weird adaptation starring Matt Damon. Gosling plays a middle school science teacher who an international group enlists as humanity's last hope — he is to travel 11.9 million light-years as Earth faces extinction with the Sun dying out. Set to Harry Styles' 'Sign of the Times' and showing off some eye-popping cinematography by Oscar-winning 'Dune' and 'The Batman' DP Greig Fraser, the trailer boasts a mix of humor and humanity that is a hallmark of Lord and Miller's filmography. Speaking of, this marks Lord and Miller's first feature directorial effort since 2014's '22 Jump Street.' The duo were set to make their sci-fi debut with 2018's 'Star Wars' spinoff 'Solo,' but left that project over creative differences. That's not to say they haven't been busy spearheading the 'Spider-Verse' sequels and making the Apple TV+ show 'The Afterparty,' but 'Project Hail Mary' is a pretty exciting return to the feature film director's chair in a big way. Check out the trailer for yourself in the player above. The Amazon MGM Studios release will open in theaters — including IMAX — on March 30, 2026. 'Project Hail Mary' also stars Sandra Hueller, Milana Vayntrub, Lionel Boyce and Ken Leung. Great Trailer For Ryan Gosling's Sci-Fi Adventure Film PROJECT HAIL MARY — GeekTyrant

Amazon MGM Studios has released the first trailer for Ryan Gosling's sci-fi adventure film Project Hail Mary . I've excited about this movie! It looks like it's going to take audiences on a film and wild ride at the movies! The film is about 'an astronaut who wakes up to find himself millions of miles away from home, in a tiny craft with two dead crewmates for company and no recollection of his mission or even his name. But this man will soon discover he is humanity's only hope for survival from an extinction-level threat.' Gosling said at CinemaCon: 'It's an insanely ambitious story that's massive in scope, and it seemed really hard to make, and that's kind of our bag. This is why we go to the movies. And I'm not just saying it because I'm in it. I'm also saying it because I'm a producer on the film.' The movie is being directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who have written and directed films like Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and The Lego Movie , and directed the 21 Jump Street films. Drew Goddard's THE MATRIX Movie Rumored to Bring Back Keanu Reeves as Neo — GeekTyrant

A new Matrix film is being developed, and Drew Goddard, best known for The Cabin in the Woods and Bad Times at the El Royale, is directing. Since the announcement, fans have been speculating whether this project is a reboot, a continuation, or something entirely different. Now, a new rumor hints that a very familiar face may be returning to the digital frontier. According to scooper Daniel Richtman: 'The idea is to have Keanu Reeves back for the next Matrix movie.' No other details were offered, but this simple claim is enough to spark some excitement. If true, Goddard's movie may not be a fresh start after all, but a continuation of Neo's story. For longtime fans, this is a potentially big development. While there had once been chatter about a full-on reboot starring Michael B. Jordan, the idea of picking up with Reeves' Neo instead feels more in line with what audiences might actually want. The Matrix franchise is so deeply tied to its original cast and philosophical lore, this movie might benefit more from evolution than reinvention. When we last saw Neo in The Matrix Resurrections , he and Trinity had regained control of the simulation and were shaping it together. If Goddard's film picks up from there, Neo could now exist as something closer to a god within the system, something new for the character and the mythology. Goddard has made it clear that he's not taking this opportunity lightly.. He said: 'It is not hyperbole to say The Matrix films changed both cinema and my life. Lana and Lilly's exquisite artistry inspires me on a daily basis, and I am beyond grateful for the chance to tell stories in their world.' Jesse Ehrman, Warner Bros. Motion Pictures President of Production, added: 'Drew came to Warner Bros. with a new idea that we all believe would be an incredible way to continue the Matrix world, by both honoring what Lana and Lilly began over 25 years ago and offering a unique perspective based on his own love of the series and characters.' Ehrman also made clear the studio's support: 'The entire team at Warner Bros. Discovery is thrilled for Drew to be making this new Matrix film, adding his vision to the cinematic canon the Wachowskis' spent a quarter of a century building here at the studio.' Whether this is a soft reboot, a sequel, or something that defies categorization altogether, it's clear that Goddard wants to build on the legacy rather than overwrite it, and if Reeves is truly coming back, then we're not done with Neo just yet.

Among the unfortunate souls are an aspiring singer, a Catholic priest, a car salesman, a young hippie, and the hotel's young, heroin-addicted manager. Capturing the spirit of the classic noirs of yore, Bad Times at the El Royale is an engaging, thrilling, and cleverly constructed tale of misfortune powered by a healthy dose of neon and panache. Goddard's direction is dynamic, further powered by a stellar cast at the top of their games.
