Attie van Wyk moved to the top of the leaderboard in the 2025 Lowvelder Golf Challenge after the most recent instalment of the competition at Mbombela Golf Club on Wednesday, June 25. The series is once again proudly sponsored by Octopi Smart Solutions and Du Toit-Smuts & Partners Attorneys. Van Wyk's 40 Stableford points took him to a total of 145, three more than Rian Joubert, who slipped one place to second after holding the top spot for two months. It is Van Wyk's second time as log leader, having also won the first leg of the series in March with 41 points. Sakkie de Lange is in third place on the standings with 137. Eugene Neumeyer won the day's Stableford competition on a count out, with Van Wyk the runner-up. Neumeyer, who missed the first edition of the challenge but has played the three since then, moves up to 20th place in the overall standings.\ Kobus Greyling claimed third place on Wednesday. To contend for the title, players must compete in at least five of the nine competition days, with their five best scores counting towards the overall standings after the grand final, which will be hosted on November 20. The fifth 2025 Lowvelder Golf Challenge competition will be held on July 23. Players are responsible for booking their own rounds and carts by contacting the club on 013 744 0952. Eligibility for prizes requires attendance at the prize-giving ceremony. Participants must be affiliated with a club and hold an official handicap. The 2025 Lowvelder Golf Challenge champion will win a year-long membership to Mbombela Golf Club.
