Watch Warriors star Steph Curry hilariously impersonate LeBron James' golf swing
Watch Warriors star Steph Curry hilariously impersonate LeBron James' golf swing originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area Steph Curry and LeBron James are ready to go toe-to-toe in another sport, and the friendly banter already has begun. Advertisement After James shared a video of his golf swing to his Instagram page last week, Curry took the first chance he saw to impersonate his fellow NBA superstar. Curry, who is in South Lake Tahoe for the American Century Championship tournament, took the green Wednesday to warm up and practice ahead of the annual event. But he couldn't leave without having a little fun while doing his best James impression. Curry swung and held a dramatic follow-through pose, as those watching burst into laughter once they noticed he was mimicking James. And, of course, it's all just in good fun for two mega-athletes and friends. Advertisement 'Unbelievable impersonation of my guy Bron's follow-through in his golf swing,' Curry said. 'But we all want to welcome LeBron James to the world of golf. The game needs you, big fella.' For the opening round Friday, Curry will be a part of the first 24 groups that will tee off at 7:45 a.m. PT. The second tee time is 1 p.m. for the remaining 25 groups. Curry, Miles Teller and Rob Mac will play in the morning, with Travis Kelce, Josh Allen and Alfonso Ribeiro headlining the afternoon groups. Curry won the American Century Championship in 2023 on a last-hole eagle putt, but didn't play last year while in Paris for the Olympics. Advertisement Download and follow the Dubs Talk Podcast

Kevon Looney, Pelicans reportedly agree to two-year, $16M free-agent contract
Kevon Looney, Pelicans reportedly agree to two-year, $16M free-agent contract originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area It's the end of an era for the Warriors. Kevon Looney has left the only NBA franchise he has known for the past decade, agreeing to a two-year, $16 million contract with the New Orleans Pelicans in free agency, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Monday, citing sources. Looney, affectionately known by Dub Nation as 'Loon,' was selected No. 30 overall by Golden State in the 2015 NBA Draft and went on to become a fan favorite as a three-time champion with the Warriors. Advertisement The 29-year-old center has dealt with various injuries throughout his 10-season career, from surgeries for hip and core muscle issues to a neuropathic condition that threatened his career — all the while pushing through to become Golden State's dependable Iron Man. Despite all the setbacks, Looney evolved into one of the Warriors' most reliable players and played in 290 consecutive games from March 20, 2021, to March 8, 2024. Looney leaves the Warriors just one contest shy of 600 regular-season games with Golden State, averaging 5.0 points on 57.5-percent shooting from the field with 5.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 17.2 minutes across those 599 appearances. The big man appeared in 89 NBA playoff games with the Warriors and started 27, most notably shutting down the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2022 Western Conference semifinals with 8.2 rebounds per game and providing stellar defense on superstars like James Harden and Anthony Davis early in Golden State's dynastic run. When the 2024-25 NBA season ended, Looney said he already had preliminary discussions with the Warriors' front office about returning and felt optimistic that a deal would get done. But after a decade in this league, Looney knew that nothing is guaranteed. Advertisement 'But it's the NBA, things always change, especially when you don't win it all,' Looney said. 'I'm just ready for whatever. 'They're going to try to do whatever is best to make the team better. Hopefully I'm in those plans.' Even though things didn't pan out between Golden State and Looney, when all is said and done, there is no Warriors dynasty without him. But now, he will continue his successful NBA career on a new team — and Dub Nation certainly hopes Loon's new fanbase appreciates him like they did. Download and follow the Dubs Talk Podcast

Draymond recalls hilarious KD-to-Warriors mix-up after Luka trade
Draymond recalls hilarious KD-to-Warriors mix-up after Luka trade originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area The blockbuster trade that sent Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers stunned the entire NBA and sports world, but perhaps no one was as confused as Draymond Green. Advertisement However, Green's bewilderment stemmed from a reason beyond the actual trade and more from a hypothetical one. The Warriors star forward joined 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' and hilariously recalled how his confusion unraveled thanks to a little premature information from Golden State majority owner Joe Lacob. 'When it first happened, we were at a Warriors charity poker tournament,' Green remembered. 'I had just saw Joe Lacob 10 minutes before this happened. Joe gets excited. Joe goes, 'Draymond, I think we're going to get Kevin Durant. It's right there at the finish line. It's happening. We're getting Kevin Durant back.' I'm like, 'Oh, man. Here we go. Let's go.' And we talk about it. He asks if I think it'll work. I said absolutely. He leaves, he comes running back two minutes later like, 'Draymond! Draymond! I wasn't supposed to say anything. Don't say nothing to nobody.' I'm like, 'Joe, I got you. I won't say anything to anyone.' 'So we're at this tournament and I go sit down and about 15 minutes later, Steph yells, 'Draymond, you see the trade?' And I go, 'It happened?' Steph goes, 'Wait, who?' I said, 'Oh, never mind, nobody. What happened?' And he's like, 'Luka got traded.' ' Whew. Advertisement You can only imagine the emotional rollercoaster Green endured over those 20 minutes or so. First, he had to fathom the thought that Durant was returning to the Bay, where he helped bring two championships, to then — like so many others — try and wrap his head around Dončić and LeBron James teaming up, to finally realizing that Durant was, in fact, not on his way to San Francisco. What a whirlwind. 'I couldn't believe it, I thought Shams was hacked,' Green said of the Dallas Mavericks trading Dončić. 'There's videos out at the charity event of us reacting. I couldn't believe it. Superstars at 25 don't get traded. Luka's a megastar. Advertisement 'Then I thought, 'I have to be next if Luka's getting traded. It's coming for me soon.' ' To be fair to Lacob, several reports indicated that Durant's return to the Warriors was a possibility before the 15-time NBA All-Star turned down a reunion. Maybe next time, Lacob will wait for the trade to be official before spilling any premature beans. Download and follow the Dubs Talk Podcast

Podz uses Steph analogy to address Giannis-Bucks trade rumors
Podz uses Steph analogy to address Giannis-Bucks trade rumors originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area Wisconsin native Brandin Podziemski is on the Warriors, but he grew up watching Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks. Advertisement So as trade rumors swirl around the two-time NBA MVP, Podziemski understands the gravity of Antetokounmpo potentially leaving Milwaukee — especially since he plays alongside another one-team generational talent in Steph Curry. 'I mean, [it's] the same thing with any player like that, it's like Steph not playing for the Warriors,' Podziemski told Kay Adams on the 'Up & Adams' show Tuesday. 'All guys who cemented their legacy and what they're about in this league with one team, you never expected it to change. The same with Luka Dončić and Dallas [Mavericks], like the whole world is shocked because of the player he is, and you can see how they were building around him. But like I said, it's like any star in the league that stays with one team, you just expect them to be in one jersey and anywhere else just doesn't seem right at all.' The Bay Area likely would riot if Curry left the Warriors, but Dub Nation certainly would welcome Antetokounmpo to Golden State with open arms. However, while Antetokounmpo reportedly met with the Bucks to discuss his and the team's future, it remains unclear if he will request a trade out of Milwaukee even if the Warriors are an intriguing destination. Advertisement Golden State would have to give up plenty for that to happen, and it also views recent addition Jimmy Butler as a subtle superstar who will continue to push the team to new heights next season. For Podziemski, who has played against Antetokounmpo and the Bucks four times in his young NBA career, it's always a full-circle moment to go up against someone whose career arc he has observed from Day 1. In Podziemski's first game back in Milwaukee against the Bucks on Jan. 13, 2024, he shone with 23 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals. 'I saw Giannis get drafted,' Podziemski told Adams. 'I was at a lot of games his rookie year and throughout his development. And so to be on the same court as him, playing against him, competing, it's pretty cool, but it's also kind of a full-circle moment for me, just because I played at Illinois and we played in Marquette, which is in Milwaukee, and I didn't play any minutes that game, and I had a bunch of people that are watching me. 'So to go back there my rookie year and play well and play a lot in front of those same people, it was kind of refreshing for me.' Advertisement Whether or not Antetokounmpo's arc brings him to the Warriors alongside Podziemski — or elsewhere in the league — remains to be seen. Download and follow the Dubs Talk Podcast

Report: Nets not expected to prepare Kuminga offer sheet
Report: Nets not expected to prepare Kuminga offer sheet originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area The Brooklyn Nets aren't expected to prepare Jonathan Kuminga an offer sheet this summer. With the Warriors forward set to become a restricted free agent this offseason, there were several rumors that the Nets would make an offer given their salary-cap situation. However, that doesn't appear to be the case. Advertisement 'There is not a current expectation that the Brooklyn Nets are preparing an offer sheet for Kuminga, but there are signs Brooklyn could be willing to use its open cap space as a vehicle to execute multi-team trade scenarios this summer,' The Athletic's Anthony Slater reported. 'That could open up several avenues and possible suitors for Kuminga, one of the market's most intriguing names. The Warriors' front office, with the help of new cap specialist Jon Phelps, showed some creativity last summer, routing Thompson's departure into a six-team sign-and-trade that delivered Buddy Hield and Kyle Anderson (after generating the space for De'Anthony Melton).' The 22-year-old has all of the physical talents to become an elite NBA player, but he has struggled with consistency during his tenure with the Warriors. With Golden State committed to building around Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler next season, it doesn't seem likely that Kuminga will fit into those plans. After trading for Butler, Kuminga fell out of the rotation almost entirely, seeing significant game action only after Curry went down with a Grade 1 hamstring strain in the Western Conference Semifinals. Advertisement Given the 22-year-old's contract situation, it's more feasible for a sign-and-trade deal to materialize, and it's possible that Golden State could get some solid players in the exchange. The Warriors selected Kuminga with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft with the expectation that it would take time for him to develop into an elite-level player. While he has flashed brilliance at times, it's clear that the 'two-timeline' approach owner Joe Lacob envisioned isn't working out. With Curry continuing to play at a high level, it's clear that general manager Mike Dunleavy and the rest of the Golden State front office are looking to acquire more complementary pieces to fill out the roster. Only time will tell if Kuminga fits into those plans or not. Download and follow the Dubs Talk Podcast
