Report: Nets not expected to prepare Kuminga offer sheet

Report: Nets not expected to prepare Kuminga offer sheet originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
The Brooklyn Nets aren't expected to prepare Jonathan Kuminga an offer sheet this summer.
With the Warriors forward set to become a restricted free agent this offseason, there were several rumors that the Nets would make an offer given their salary-cap situation. However, that doesn't appear to be the case.

'There is not a current expectation that the Brooklyn Nets are preparing an offer sheet for Kuminga, but there are signs Brooklyn could be willing to use its open cap space as a vehicle to execute multi-team trade scenarios this summer,' The Athletic's Anthony Slater reported.
'That could open up several avenues and possible suitors for Kuminga, one of the market's most intriguing names. The Warriors' front office, with the help of new cap specialist Jon Phelps, showed some creativity last summer, routing Thompson's departure into a six-team sign-and-trade that delivered Buddy Hield and Kyle Anderson (after generating the space for De'Anthony Melton).'
The 22-year-old has all of the physical talents to become an elite NBA player, but he has struggled with consistency during his tenure with the Warriors. With Golden State committed to building around Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler next season, it doesn't seem likely that Kuminga will fit into those plans.
After trading for Butler, Kuminga fell out of the rotation almost entirely, seeing significant game action only after Curry went down with a Grade 1 hamstring strain in the Western Conference Semifinals.

Given the 22-year-old's contract situation, it's more feasible for a sign-and-trade deal to materialize, and it's possible that Golden State could get some solid players in the exchange.
The Warriors selected Kuminga with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft with the expectation that it would take time for him to develop into an elite-level player. While he has flashed brilliance at times, it's clear that the 'two-timeline' approach owner Joe Lacob envisioned isn't working out.
With Curry continuing to play at a high level, it's clear that general manager Mike Dunleavy and the rest of the Golden State front office are looking to acquire more complementary pieces to fill out the roster.
Only time will tell if Kuminga fits into those plans or not.

Rich Paul clarifies Draymond Green's CBA rant

The post Rich Paul clarifies Draymond Green's CBA rant appeared first on ClutchPoints. Interest in NBA free agency is seemingly far lower this year than it has been in the past. A lack of available star power is certainly a cause for the diminishing enthusiasm, but fans are also growing increasingly frustrated with the lingering effects of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement. Constructing and retaining super teams in the modern game has become a grueling chore, due to the luxury tax costs for exceeding the now-infamous second apron. Draymond Green recently aired his own grievances. The Golden State Warriors great believes the CBA is hamstringing players and giving more power to owners. He criticized the NBA Players Association for signing on to the deal in June of 2023 and even suggested that he should be union president — Houston Rockets point guard Fred VanVleet was just elected to the post, replacing recent Washington Wizards acquisition CJ McCollum. Green seems most concerned with how players are approaching this new era, citing a lack of understanding on their part. The four-time NBA champion thinks free agents are misplaying their hands because they do not fully grasp the impact the CBA has on their earning potential. A consequence of this added inflexibility and market misinterpretation is an underwhelming free agency period. Green's agent, Klutch Sports Group CEO and founder Rich Paul, elaborated on his thoughts. 'Free agency for us as a league is a very important asset,' Paul told Frank Isola on SiriusXM NBA Radio. 'Not just contracts, but for our fan base as well. Free agency is that moment of connectivity and cool that we should really build around. Part of that has to do with figuring out the aprons and the lack there of flexibility for teams, which I'll leave up to the people that do that, but there's also another aspect to it that could be very fan-attractive. 'I don't want to continue to dampen free agency, because free agency is a very critical part of the brand of the league.' Will Draymond Green and Rich Paul's comments have an effect? Although Paul touches on the issues presently facing the NBA, it is unclear if there is a solution to waning free agency interest, or the limitations on the open market. Stars are still reaping the fruits of their labor, but the next tier or tiers of talent are not necessarily raking in what they want. Just look at the Warriors situation. Jonathan Kuminga remains a restricted free agent, reportedly determined to secure a massive salary in the range of $30 million. However, his perceived worth may not be in line with how Golden State or other teams view it, hence why the whole process is dragging out. Unless players and owners can get on the same page, the free agency problem that both Draymond Green and Rich Paul have discussed will only continue. The question will then become simple. NBA rumors: Jonathan Kuminga's desired salary that Warriors don't want to pay

The post NBA rumors: Jonathan Kuminga's desired salary that Warriors don't want to pay appeared first on ClutchPoints. Two weeks into 2025 NBA free agency, former Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga remains without his next team. As one of the biggest names still available, Kuminga's situation is unique in the fact that he is receiving a lot of mainstream media attention without any significant traction in the open market. A return to the Warriors is still possible, but Kuminga's asking price is currently too much for Golden State, according to Jake Fischer on The Stein Line. The 22-year-old is reportedly seeking $25 million per year, a figure that is momentarily keeping teams out of the discussion. 'Kuminga's holding pattern has generated the most media attention to date,' Fischer wrote. 'His agent Aaron Turner has held numerous discussions with Warriors officials in Las Vegas, league sources tell The Stein Line, with the hopes of securing a contract — even a short-term contract — that pays at least $25 million in average annual salary, whether that's to stay with the Warriors or switch teams via sign-and-trade. 'Sources say that the Warriors have expressed reluctance to go that high in price over a long-term agreement while also seeking some level of first-round draft compensation in any theoretical trade that ships Kuminga elsewhere.' ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel recently reported on Kuminga's situation, noting that a return to the Warriors is still 'likely' despite these differences. While there has been some interest in Kuminga on the market, most notably by the Sacramento Kings, there has been no traction on a sign-and-trade. Warriors still control Jonathan Kuminga's future Although technically a free agent, Kuminga is still attached to the Warriors until the end of the offseason. Golden State tendered a $7.9 million qualifying offer that allows it to potentially match any contract he signs as a restricted free agent. While the Warriors are amenable to a reunion, as Siegel previously reported, they simply don't want to give him the money he wants. Golden State owes Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green a combined $139.6 million in 2025-2026, per Basketball Reference. That number inflates to $147 million in 2027-2028 before all three become unrestricted free agents in the following offseason. The Dubs are already at the $170.8 million luxury tax with just nine players currently under contract. The Kuminga situation has prevented Golden State from making any moves in free agency thus far. The team reportedly wants to resolve the saga before making any further moves, whether that involves negotiating a reasonable re-signing number, trading him, or allowing the former lottery pick to sign elsewhere. Warriors' Stephen Curry wows fans with deep shot at American Century Championship

The post Warriors' Stephen Curry wows fans with deep shot at American Century Championship appeared first on ClutchPoints. Golden State Warriors fans were treated to a vintage Stephen Curry viral video moment, and this one happened far from the hardwood. While competing at the American Century Championship 2025, a celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, Curry stopped mid-round to answer a fan's impromptu request. A basketball was tossed his way from the crowd, and without hesitation, he stepped aside from the golf course path, sized up a nearby hoop sitting roughly 25-30 feet away, and let it fly. The result? A smooth swish — and an eruption from the crowd. NBC Sports Bay Area captured the impressive shot and shared it on their official X (formerly Twitter) page, where it quickly went viral and lit up social media feeds. 'CURRY FROM WAY DOWNTOWN … BANG' After skipping the 2024 event due to Olympic commitments, Curry returned to Edgewood Tahoe in 2025 looking to defend his 2023 American Century Championship title. The Warriors star didn't reclaim the trophy but still delivered a strong showing, finishing fifth with 58 points under the Modified Stableford format. San Jose Sharks legend Joe Pavelski took home the 2025 title with 73 points, earning his first ACC win after runner-up finishes in 2022 and 2024. For Warriors fans, this was more than a fun video. Curry's appearance at the celebrity event served as a welcome offseason update, especially after a frustrating 2025 playoff exit and a hamstring issue that lingered into June. Seeing the franchise cornerstone healthy, confident, and in rhythm again brings relief to fans and staff alike. Even more, Curry's charisma and competitive flair bring offseason spotlight to the Warriors. His shot at the American Century Championship wasn't just a moment of levity — it was a reminder of why he's one of sports' most magnetic figures. No warm-up, no setup — just one motion, one walk-away, one swish.
