Suspect in dangerous person alert charged with attempted murder after officer shot
A dangerous person alert was issued for an armed man in the Muskowekwan First Nation area on July 24, 2025. (Jacob Carr/CTV News) The man connected to a dangerous person alert is now facing an attempted murder charge after an RCMP officer was injured on Muskowekwan First Nation. Officers first responded to a report of an armed individual at a residence on the First Nation around 2 a.m. on Thursday. A firearm was discharged, and an officer was struck, according to RCMP. He was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening. The armed man, who was identified as 28-year-old Elijah Albert, fled on foot. A dangerous person alert for the area was issued around 6:36 a.m. after RCMP monitored the situation. The alert ended around 9:11 a.m. when RCMP say Albert was located at a rural location near Lestock, Sask. and taken into custody. RCMP say fire and ammunition were recovered as part of the ongoing investigation. Albert is facing one count of attempted murder with a firearm, one count of discharging a firearm with intent, one count of uttering threats, and one count of pointing a firearm. He is scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial court on July 30. Muskowekwan First Nation and Lestock, Sask. are approximately 140 kilometres north of Regina.

The Saskatchewan RCMP is warning the public of a dangerous person in the Muskowekwan First Nation area, located approximately 140 kilometres north of Regina. Police say Elijah Albert, 28, is armed with a rifle and was last seen wearing a blue sweater, blue jeans and a dark backpack. He was last seen heading into the bush surrounding Muskowekwan First Nation. RCMP say he is possibly travelling on foot or on a quad. Residents in the area are being told to seek immediate shelter. 'Do not leave a secure location. Lock windows and doors. Do not pick up hitchhikers,' RCMP said in its news release. A civil emergency alert was issued for the area at around 7 a.m. Thursday.

RCMP advises people in the area to seek immediate shelter, remain in a secure location and lock all windows and doors. People should also refrain from picking up any hitchhikers and report emergencies to 911.
