Games Of Thrones Fame Peter Dinklage Teases The Toxic Avenger's First Glimpse At San Diego Comic-Con

Peter Dinklage and Elijah Wood thrilled fans at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 with a sneak peek of their superhero movie, The Toxic Avenger, releasing on August 29. Hollywood stars Peter Dinklage and Elijah Wood have made fans super happy. On Thursday, the duo teased an early glimpse of their upcoming superhero movie, The Toxic Avenger, in Hall H at the San Diego Comic-Con 2025. The four-day event will conclude on July 27. The Toxic Avenger, directed by Macon Blair, was announced back in 2023 with its trailer premiering in September of the same year. The film was, however, stalled after the makers failed to secure a distributor. The much-awaited superhero reboot is finally coming to the US theatres on August 29. The Toxic Avenger revolves around an ordinary janitor, Winston Gooze, played by Peter Dinklage, who transforms into a mutant vigilante after an accident at a chemical factory. The newfound superpowers help Winston fight against the slimy criminals and a corrupted CEO. Apart from Peter and Elijah Wood, the movie also stars Jacob Tremblay and Taylour Paige in crucial roles. Peter Dinklage revealed that slipping into the shoes of the 'mop-wielding superhero" Toxie in the film was 'an easy yes" for him, reported People magazine. The Game of Thrones actor credited this to the filmmaker and fellow Comic-Con panelist Lloyd Kaufman, who made the original Toxic Avenger film in 1984. Peter Dinklage On The Toxic Avenger Subtly hinting at the theme of The Toxic Avenger, Peter Dinklage said, 'Environmental concerns are an ongoing thing, now more than ever. The great way to get into that is through satire, through the backdoor, through humor. This just felt so perfect and necessary and needed." The actor further admitted that he was a 'huge fan" of director Macon Blair. Peter Dinklage heaped praise on his body-double, Luisa Guerreiro, for doing a fantastic job. 'Over 70% of my performance is not me. Guerreiro studied all my movements like a hawk and did a better me than I did." Elijah Wood, who essays the character of an antagonist, Fritz in The Toxic Avenger, said, 'There's a beating heart in there. I love the horror genre because of the possibilities. This movie is filled to the brim with ideas, and fun and playing with the medium." The convention runs through the evening of Sunday, July 27. Interested in learning more? Here's what to know about SDCC 2025. When is San Diego Comic-Con 2025? SDCC 2025 will be from Thursday, July 24, through Sunday, July 27. The convention's exhibit hall is open from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. PT on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, while it will be open from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday. Where is San Diego Comic-Con 2025? The convention is held at the San Diego Convention Center. Are tickets still available for San Diego Comic-Con 2025? No. Tickets, or "Badges," as the convention calls them, are sold out for this year. Can you get San Diego Comic-Con tickets on resale? No. Valid badges can only be purchased through the SDCC website, and sales closed for 2025. Badges are also non-transferable; therefore, if a family member or friend bought a badge and can't attend the convention, the badge cannot be transferred to another person. Badges are "security printed and are personal to the badge holder only," the convention website states. Badges purchased from third parties or resellers are invalid. What celebrities will be at San Diego Comic-Con 2025? Most A-list celebrities are on panels in Hall H at the San Diego Convention Center. Here's a look at some of the highlights: The full convention schedule is available on the San Diego Comic-Con website. How to watch San Diego Comic-Con panels from home SDCC does not livestream its panels, but several outlets will provide livestreams or video recordings throughout the weekend. IGN, an online video game outlet, is hosting livestreams of the convention on Friday, July 25, and Saturday, July 26. The livestreams, which will include announcements and interviews, can be watched on the IGN website, mobile apps and social media channels. How to get a badge for San Diego Comic Con 2026 Badges for new and returning SDCC attendees become available for purchase in the fall, before the upcoming year's convention. Returning attendees receive access to badges before new ones. For example, last year, badge sales opened for returning attendees in September, and sales for new attendees opened in November, according to the convention website. Keep an eye on the SDCC website later this summer to learn about the 2026 schedule. This year, tickets ranged between $60 and $80 per day for adults. Trade war supercharges Montreal Comiccon attendance, spokesperson says

Robert Tremblay dressed as Darth Sidious, an alias for Star Wars villain Emperor Palpatine, as he attends Comiccon, in Montreal, Saturday, July 6, 2024. (Peter McCabe/The Canadian Press) A spokesperson for the Montreal Comiccon says the trade war with the United States could supercharge attendance at the colourful pop culture gathering. A large crowd of people, some dressed as superheroes and TV and movie characters, were already filtering into Montreal's convention centre shortly after doors opened Saturday. The crowd was thickest in the autograph zone, where Star Wars fans lined up for a chance to meet Scottish actor Ian McDiarmid, who plays Emperor Palpatine in the films. Comiccon spokesperson Jason Rockman believes the three-day fan convention will surpass its estimate of 65,000 attendees. He says the presence of Lord of the Rings stars Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd and Andy Serkis are a big part of the draw, but he also believes many people are avoiding going to the United States due to the trade war. 'I think people don't really want to travel (to the United States) now, so there are a lot of people staying here and it helps us,' he explained. He also feels like a weaker Canadian dollar means the event is more attractive for American tourists. 'We just opened our doors for regular tickets and it's busy (everywhere),' Rockman said. He suggested that Friday's attendance may have broken a participation record. One guest, dressed as the wizard Gandalf from the Lord of Rings, said he was there to see the headliners. Elsewhere, a group of friends who came dressed as characters in the Canadian animated TV series 'ReBoot' said they were there for the ambience and to meet like-minded fans. In addition to McDiarmid and the Lord of the Rings actors, the headliners include 94-year-old William Shatner of Star Trek fame as well as Famke Janssen of the X-Men franchise. Rockman said it can be a challenge to attract headliners, because there are other events happening the same weekend. 'But the fact that it's in Montreal, during the summer, there are a lot of people who want to be here,' he said. This report by The Canadian Press was first published July 5, 2025. Elsewhere, Jensen Ackles addressed rumors he's in the running to play James Gunn's Batman during a recent interview with Collider. Oh, man. I don't know. It would be hard to carve out something truly unique amongst all of the performances as Batman. I would probably have to lean heavily on Gunn and whoever's directing and whoever's writing it, and get inspiration from the text. You talk about not wanting to fumble the football — that's one that I would be nervous as hell to carry. But also proud. A certain feather in the cap. Anybody who gets to wear the cowl, they got something. NEW YORK, NY - OCTOBER 13: Actor Vin Diesel attends the "The Last Witch Hunter" New York premiere ... More at AMC Loews Lincoln Square on October 13, 2015 in New York City. (Photo by Jim Spellman/WireImage) A Vin Diesel action fantasy movie from 10 years ago is finding a new audience on Netflix. Diesel, of course, is known for the Fast & Furious movie saga, which evolved from muscle car-themed movies to include big machines of all shapes and sizes. However, in 2015, Diesel went the fantasy film route The Last Witch Hunter. The logline from Netflix for the film reads, 'When a powerful coven aims to unleash a deadly plague on New York, an immortal witch hunter, a priest and a young witch must thwart the lethal plan.' Diesel stars as the immortal witch hunter Kaulder in The Last Witch Hunter. Directed by Breck Eisner, the film also stars Rose Leslie, Elijah Wood and Michael Caine. The Last Witch Hunter arrived on Netflix on June 16 and according to streamer, the film debuted on the streamer's chart of the Top 10 U.S. Movies for the week of June 16-22. The film arrived on the chart at No. 4, ahead of the streamer's new original documentary Trainwreck: Mayor of Mayhem at No. 5. The Last Witch Hunter debuted behind 2023's Plane, the Netflix Original documentary Trainwreck: The Astroworld Tragedy and the Netflix Original movie Straw, which placed No. 1, 2 and 3 respectively. Unlike Netflix's Top 10 Global Movies chart, the streamer's U.S. Movies chart does not disclose viewership numbers. How Did Audiences And Critics Receive 'The Last Witch Hunter'? The Last Witch Hunter was released in 3,082 North American theaters on Oct. 23, 2015, by Lionsgate. The film went on to earn nearly $27.4 million domestically and $130.4 million internationally for a worldwide box office tally of $130.8 million against an $80 million production budget before prints and advertising, according to The Numbers. The Last Witch Hunter was a critical disaster, however, earning a lowly 18% 'rotten' rating from Rotten Tomatoes critics based on 138 reviews. The RT Critics Consensus for the movie reads, 'Grim, plodding, and an overall ill fit for Vin Diesel's particular charms, The Last Witch Hunter will bore and/or confuse all but the least demanding action-fantasy fans.' RT users weren't nearly as harsh on The Last Witch Hunter, but it still received a 44% 'rotten' score on the site's Popcornmeter based on 25,000-plus verified user ratings. Rated PG-13, Vin Diesel's The Last Witch Hunter is new on Netflix.
