'America Feels Scary': Ellen DeGeneres Blames Trump For Moving To UK
Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, moved to the United Kingdom a day after Donald Trump was elected as President, US TV star has revealed. The former talk show host plans to settle permanently in the UK. Speaking to BBC 's Richard Bacon at an event in Cheltenham, Ellen confirmed Trump was the reason she left the US. The 67-year-old said the transition was made shortly after the 2024 presidential election results were announced in November. America can still be "scary for people to be who they are," she added. The Emmy-winning talk show host said the couple bought the house in the UK with the intention of staying just three to four months a year, calling it a "part-time house," according to The Hollywood Reporter. "We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis," she said, "And I was like, 'He got in. And we're like, 'We're staying here'." Talking about the area where they live, she told the outlet, "It's absolutely beautiful,". We're just not used to seeing this kind of beauty, she said. "The villages and the towns and the architecture - everything you see is charming, and it's just a simpler way of life." It's clean and everything here is just better - from the way animals are treated to how polite people are here, the former host of the Ellen Show said. "I just love it here," she said. She also spoke about the talk show, which ran for 19 seasons from 2003 to 2022, and addressed allegations that it was a toxic workplace. She admitted that she can be "very blunt" but dismissed several reports about her on-set behavior as "clickbait." On January 25, Trump signed an executive order saying the US government would only recognise two sexes: male and female. He made major changes in the US policy, including, ban on transgender women from playing women's sports, a ban on transgender individuals from serving in the US military, and removing LGBTQ references from historic landmarks like Philadelphia's Independence Hall. In addition to this, a national suicide prevention hotline dedicated to LGBTQ adolescents was shut down, and $800 million in funds for LGBTQ health research was cancelled.

Alex From Target was one of the first major social media stars. Alex Lee was just 16-years-old when he shot to viral superstardom after somebody snapped a photo of him working the checkout during a shift at Target. Seemingly overnight, the cashier ended up with millions of followers on social media and made appearances on The Ellen Show and Inside Edition. He was also compared to Justin Bieber, and at one point even surpassed the Baby hitmaker in internet searches. After turning 18, the teenager moved from Texas to Los Angeles to pursue a career in Hollywood. However, he soon vanished from the spotlight completely, deleting all of his social media accounts in the process. Now fans are wondering what exactly happened to the reclusive influencer more than a decade after he became a global meme. In interview with People magazine, Alex, now 27, confirmed that he's left the limelight behind for good to focus on living a normal life in private. As of last year, he was living back in Sherman, Texas, and working for UPS. 'Right now I have a job at UPS, I load the trucks in the morning, and I have to say it's so much better than doing social media,' he said. 'The stress is so much lower. It pays a lot less, but I'm a lot happier doing it.' Alex also admits that he hated being famous and had never been popular in high school or active on social media before going viral. 'After the Ellen show, people started treating me differently, bothering me all day, and the news companies would wait outside my high school. The exposure was intense and I ended up having to leave my school and start homeschooling,' he said. The Texas teen and his family were also inundated with death threats from trolls. At one point, his parents had to contact the police after trolls started leaking their private information, including their bank details and social security numbers, online. Alex got a management team who steered him into acting classes, and for a while he started auditioning for TV and film roles. However, the small town social media star soon realized that Hollywood wasn't for him. He was also pushed into starting a YouTube channel, which he now admits he 'hated' doing. 'I hated it so much. So I ended up abandoning that project as well,' he said. He eventually moved back to Texas and deleted all of his social media channels. Alex now has a much different look compared to his days as a clean-cut boy next door. The UPS worked has shoulder-length hair and has taken up powerlifting to increase his size. He also started building a house with his girlfriend, who was a longtime friend before they started dating. 'I never wanted to be "Alex from Target," absolutely not,' he said. After a video about Alex's current whereabouts went viral on Instagram last week, many social media users have shared their thoughts on the former cashier's fifteen minutes of fame. 'It doesn't sit well with me that an underage teenage boy went viral because people took unsuspecting photos of him at his place of work and uploaded them so he can be sexualised,' commented one user. 'It was weird that grown women thirsted after a teenager,' wrote a second. 'Good for Alex. Not everyone wants fame based on what they can't control like looks. He didn't ask for any of this and people who can think they can exploit random people cause they look good or look odd are sick,' a third commented.

"We had to say goodbye to Augie yesterday," she wrote in the caption of the post. "We rescued him 12 years ago and he was so grateful. He gave us so much love. He will be missed. There will never be another like him." Jennifer Lopez suffered a facial injury while rehearsing for the upcoming 2025 American Music Awards. The 'Love Don't Cost a Thing' singer took to her Instagram Stories in the late hours of Tuesday, May 13, to share photos taken one week prior that captured the extent of the incident. Sharing a snap of herself holding an ice pack to her right eye, Lopez, 55, wrote, 'So this happened…' before posting a second image that revealed a swollen nose and cut that ran across it. Her right eye also appeared to be bruised, with Lopez captioning the photo, '(During @amas rehearsals).' The second image also showed redness under Lopez's right eye and over her right cheek. In the final photo, Lopez is smiling at the camera without a single flaw in sight, seemingly on the mend and putting the incident behind her as she focuses on her hosting role at the 2025 AMAs, set to be broadcast from Las Vegas on Memorial Day. This is not Lopez's first AMAs-related health incident. In 2009, she suffered bruising following a fall while performing at the event. Addressing the fall on the Ellen Show later, she told host Ellen Degeneres that she was "messed up" from the accident and suffered a "bruised bone." While she didn't specify which bone she injured, Lopez explained how the mishap went down. 'One of the dancer's backs was slippery from sweat and lights and everything," Lopez recalled of her bare-chested crew at the time. 'We never bargained for that, because they always had t-shirts on in rehearsal. So they were barebacked, didn't have shirts on for the performance and when I stepped on their backs my feet got wet. So when I landed it just slipped from under me.' In addition to fulfilling her second-time hosting duties, Lopez is scheduled to perform at this year's May 26 event. According to Billboard, Lopez is only the fourth music artist in history to host the AMAs twice, following Lionel Richie, Diana Ross and Pitbull. Prior to her new injury Stories, Lopez had kept a continuing stream of AMAs promotional videos flowing via the social media platform.
