CAIRO, July 30 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty asserted the special nature of the relationship between Egypt and the US. He expressed Egypt's keenness to strengthen cooperation and coordination with both chambers of the US Congress in various fields that serve the mutual interests of the two nations. This came during his meeting in Washington with US Senator Brian Schatz, a ranking member of the US Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on State and Foreign Operations. Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's interest in deepening economic, trade and investment relations with the US. Regarding the situation in Gaza, Abdelatty presented Egypt's ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at securing a ceasefire and ensuring the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid to the besieged enclave, where living conditions continue to deteriorate. He also underlined Egypt's broader efforts to restore calm and create the conditions necessary for a just and lasting political resolution to the Palestinian cause. The meeting also covered developments in the Sahel region and West Africa, particularly the escalating security threats posed by the spread of terrorist organizations and armed militias. OPEN// FM reiterates Egypt's categorical rejection of any displacement of Palestinians from Gaza

CAIRO, April 16 (MENA) - Foreign, Emigration and Expatriates Affairs Minister Badr Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's categorical rejection of any plan to displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the need for an immediate return to the ceasefire agreement signed on January 19. Abdelatty was speaking during a news conference with his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski following their talks on Wednesday, which covered a raft of regional files, atop of which is the question of Palestine, the core of the conflict in the Middle East, and the current situation in the war-torn Gaza Strip. During the talks, the Polish foreign minister was briefed on Egypt-proposed Arab-Islamic plan for early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, which has gained international support, Abdelaaty said. "We agreed on the need to work together to stop the war in Gaza, and fully reject any plans for displacement from the Gaza Strip, and work towards a political process that paves the way for the establishment of a Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital, as the only guarantee to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and end the suffering of the steadfast Palestinian people," Abdelaaty added. Abdelatty said the Polish minister's visit reflects the distinguished and close relationship between both countries, which culminated in the visit of Polish President Andrzej Duda to Egypt in May 2023. He noted that the talks also covered the outcomes of the second session of the Egyptian-Polish Economic Cooperation Committee, Poland hosted in December. "We look forward to the upcoming session in Egypt before the end of this year," Abdelatty said. (MORE) M A A/R E E
