'The Young and the Restless' Eric Braeden Makes Bold Confession About Soaps

'The Young and the Restless' Eric Braeden Makes Bold Confession About Soaps originally appeared on Parade. Eric Braeden has been part of the soap world for 45 years, playing the legendary Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless. Although fans know him best as "the mustache," Braden has worked in other genres throughout his career. The veteran actor was the first guest on the new podcast Soapy, hosted by Days of Our Lives star Greg Rikaart (Leo) and The Bold and the Beautiful star Rebecca Budig (Taylor). During their chat, Braeden got real about working in other genres versus working on soaps.'People have no clue! Nighttime actors, theater actors who have done it all, have no clue what we do, none," Braeden said about the fast pace that soap stars work at daily. Rikkart wondered if the fast pace of soaps put a damper on Braeden working on other projects. Braeden also starred in Titanic and has appeared as a guest star on several primetime shows, including How I Met Your Mother. "It's bloody boring,' he shared, adding, 'We make very few friends doing a soap because we have no time to get to know each other. I remember all the friends I did nighttime with: Burt Reynolds, Jim Brown, Raquel Welch, and Planet of the Apes. I knew them all for years because you sit and you bulls--t. You have time in between scenes." In the soap world, that's simply not how things are done. There's only time for filming and getting business done. 'You have no time for that, none. You come on the set, you work. Boom,' Braeden expressed. There's no question that Braeden loves his job on The Young and the Restless and being part of the soap genre. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. 'The Young and the Restless' Boss Teases Victor's 'Summer' Rivalry With 'Adversary' Cane

'The Young and the Restless' Boss Teases Victor's 'Summer' Rivalry With 'Adversary' Cane originally appeared on Parade. The Young and the Restless executive producer and head writer, Josh Griffith, has big plans for the soap this summer. It's no secret that a majority of Genoa City's major players will be spending a good portion of the summer in France thanks to Cane (Billy Flynn). Having Cane back in the mix shakes things up for a lot of people, especially Victor (Eric Braeden). Even though Victor knew Cane was Aristotle Dumas, he kept that tidbit of information to stage has been set for Victor and Cane's rivalry to heat up this summer on The Young and the Restless. Griffith hinted at that when speaking to reminding fans to never count out Victor. 'He meets a very worthy adversary. I don't think Victor ever will lose. He will always win. He may face challenges, he may seem to stumble, but the great thing about Victor is that he always then reveals that he's been five steps ahead the whole time,' the Y&R boss teased. Speaking of Cane, Griffith admitted that he has a 'huge game plan' that keeps those around him guessing. Cane's motives aren't quite clear. The question of the summer will be whether Cane is back for revenge or his great love, Lily (Christel Khalil). 'All of our major players will find themselves caught in his web for most of the summer,' Griffith spilled about Cane. There's speculation that someone won't make it back to Genoa City from France alive, but Griffith didn't give any insight into that. However, we know that Conner Floyd is exiting the show because he has joined Days of Our Lives as the new Chad. If someone dies in France, all bets are on Chance. It's going to be one interesting summer on the CBS soap, so make sure to keep watching. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. The Young and the Restless spoilers: Victor's harsh punishment for Adam?

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Over the years, we've come to learn a few things about The Young and the Restless' Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). He's a shrewd businessman, able to hold a grudge longer than anyone in Genoa City, a masterful tactician when it comes to his enemies and he demands loyalty from his family. Unfortunately for his family members, loyalty and obedience are often synonymous terms in his book. Knowing what we know, we don't see Adam's (Mark Grossman) refusal to do his father's bidding at Newman Media ending well. Victor has told his youngest son several times now that he wants Adam to use Newman Media to publish attack pieces against Billy (Jason Thompson), painting the Abbott as incompetent and an imbecile, among other things. However, Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) has been in Adam's ear, telling him not to go after Billy. Call it guilt for cheating on Billy with Adam or a platonic love for Billy for helping bring her out of a dark time in her life, but Chelsea is adamant that Adam not use Newman Media to tear Billy down. So far, Adam has managed to stall his dad and honor Chelsea's request. That hasn't been easy, as Victor has been rather insistent and Billy has been poking Adam with insults. But before Victor left for Aristotle Dumas' party, he made one final demand of his son. Fast forward to The Young and the Restless episode airing on June 16, and Adam tells Chelsea that he won't do what Victor asked and will just face the consequences when The Mustache returns to Genoa City. We can't help but suspect that while Chelsea is proud of Adam, Victor will likely be furious. The Newman patriarch may even retaliate, and the father/son duo could again find themselves at odds. If we had to guess, there's a good chance that Victor fires Adam for the umpteenth time and puts someone else in charge as CEO of Newman Media. That would be a real shame, considering Adam worked so hard over the last two years to earn his father's trust and be welcomed back into the family business. But hey, Holden (Nathan Owens) is currently on the market for a job in Genoa City, so who's to say Holden can step into Adam's role? Even if Victor doesn't fire Adam completely, there's always a chance he demotes Adam to COO of Newman Media and gives Adam a boss. That could still be Holden, or perhaps he places Nick (Joshua Morrow) in the company's CEO chair. After all, with Victoria (Amelia Heinle) already as CEO of parent corporation Newman Enterprises and Victor far from retired, does Nick need to aid his sister? One thing we don't think Victor will do is kick Adam and Chelsea out of the other Newman Ranch. He's still a family man after all. However, Victor doesn't like it when people go rogue when he gives explicit instructions, so Adam should definitely brace himself. New episodes of The Young and the Restless air weekdays on CBS. Episodes become available to stream on Paramount Plus the next day.

Is Young and the Restless June 17 Playing ‘The Most Dangerous Game'?

In 1924, a short story called 'The Most Dangerous Game' was published. The movie version came in 1932. It was remade in 2022. Is The Young and the Restless June 17 episode about to give us the television version? In the 100-year-old tale, the story of a hunter who washes up on an island… only to become prey for a General who has gotten bored hunting big game animals and wants a bit more of a challenge. As in, a man-shaped one. Now, Jack (Peter Bergman), Diane (Susan Walters), Kyle (Michael Mealor), and Audra (Zuleyka Silver) were forced to navigate a maze (not unlike the one in 'The Shining,' but let's leave it to one movie reference per post) in order to get to the lunch where Victor (Eric Braeden), Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), Nick (Joshua Morrow), Sharon (Sharon Case), Billy (Jason Thompson), and Sally (Courtney Hope) are already waiting. Are they being fattened up? Like lambs to the slaughter, perhaps? MORE: See a sneak peek of what's happening this week on Y&R. The mysterious Aristotle Dumas is already watching his guests through closed-circuit TV. Why shouldn't we assume this is all a big game to him? One in which he's the predator… and our favorites from Genoa City are the prey? He wants to lull them into a false sense of security before he launches the final test — one where they all run for their lives as he stealthily tracks them. READ MORE: Find out what happens next on Y&R. So why not include Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) in the fun and games? She'd probably say it's because he recognized her brilliance from afar and knows that, in a battle of wits, she'll always come out on top. He's basically intimidated by her self-proclaimed genius. But we suspect it's simpler than that. Even a man who has hunted everything the earth has to offer doesn't want to hear her shrieking in indignation. She can stay where she is and drink her champagne. Dumas has more important fish to fry. Maybe literally.
