Maruti Suzuki E Vitara Could Debut On Sept 3: Design, Specs, Range, Price
Thanks to numerous new entrants, the electric car space is heated with all the buzz and excitement. Surprisingly, the country's largest carmaker has stayed away from this business domain. However, it has now announced to launch a new car on September 3, which we expect to be the Maruti Suzuki E Vitara. The all-electric SUV made its first public showcase in the country at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. While the carmaker has not yet confirmed if it's the E Vitara, rumours have it that Maruti Suzuki could also be planning to launch a flagship SUV under its Arena retail channel. Talking of the Maruti Suzuki E Vitara, as the company earlier said that the Escudo (flagship Arena SUV) will come at a later stage - the electric SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, MG ZS EV and more. The Indian spec Suzuki E Vitara will come with two battery pack options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh (as offered in the UK). The smaller battery pack will offer a WLTP range of 346 km, while the bigger battery pack is rated to offer 428 km of range in its single-motor configuration. Meanwhile, the dual-motor variant with the 61 kWh battery pack will offer 412 km of range. For perspective, it is as big as the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, but gets a longer wheelbase, measuring at 2,700 mm. The ground clearance stands at 180 mm (laden). As for the wheel tracks, the front tapes in at 1,540 mm, while the rear is wider by 5 mm. The Indian market's variant options for the E Vitara are not yet confirmed, but it is available overseas in three trims: Club, Comfort, and Comfort Plus. The standard features include adaptive cruise control, a telescopic steering wheel, a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, ambient lighting, and keyless entry. The Comfort Plus model adds features like 19-inch wheels, a power-adjustable driver's seat, an upgraded sound system, wireless phone charging, fog lights, and a 360-degree camera system.

Maruti Suzuki Escudo SUV India launch: Expected price, features, and top rivals
Maruti Suzuki Escudo: The Indian market is about to get a brand-new SUV from Maruti Suzuki called the Escudo. This new model will likely fit perfectly between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara in the brand's growing SUV lineup. Here is all the information you need about the Maruti Suzuki Escudo, such as when it is expected to come out, how much it will cost, what it will have, and how it will look. Filing for a trademark suggests the name Escudo Maruti Suzuki recently applied for a trademark for the name Escudo, which has led to rumours about its new SUV. The model that was seen during road testing looks like the Escudo, but this hasn't been officially confirmed yet. It will probably be available through Maruti's Arena dealership network, which makes it easier to get than Nexa-only models. Expected Design The Escudo takes a lot of design cues from the Grand Vitara, like its upright front grille, angular LED headlights, and modern bumper design with built-in LED fog lights. The SUV should also have: A bigger air intake New design for the bonnet Plate on the front of the skid LED tail lights that are connected Updated design for the tailgate and bumper It looks like the overall length is longer than the Grand Vitara, so it can fit both 5- and 7-seater layouts. Indian families looking for comfort and practicality might like the bigger cabin space. Choices of engines and how well they work Maruti Suzuki hasn't released the official specs yet, but the Escudo is expected to have the same engines as the Grand Vitara and Brezza. Powertrain options that are likely to be available are: 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with mild hybrid technology Strong-hybrid petrol model for better mileage The power output is expected to be about 101 hp and 139 Nm of torque. You might be able to choose between a 5-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. What to Expect from the Escudo's Interior and Features The inside of the Maruti Suzuki Escudo will probably have a high-end but useful design that is similar to the Grand Vitara. Some important features might be: 9-inch touchscreen entertainment system No wires CarPlay for Apple and Android Heads-up display Partially digital instrument cluster Audio system tuned by Arkamys Sunroof that opens with electricity View from all sides of the camera Telematics for Suzuki Connect Climate control and six airbags These features point to the Escudo being a tech-savvy SUV that puts safety and fun first. When the Maruti Suzuki Escudo is likely to come out There hasn't been an official announcement from Maruti Suzuki, but reports say that the Escudo could come out in India during the upcoming holiday season. It could be shown off around Diwali 2025, which is when the brand usually releases new models when demand is highest. What the Maruti Suzuki Escudo Will Cost in India The Maruti Suzuki Escudo is likely to cost around Rs. 9 lakh at the lower end and Rs. 16 lakh at the higher end (ex-showroom). This competitive pricing puts it up against well-known C-segment SUVs like: The Hyundai Creta Seltos by Kia MG Astor Even though the Escudo is in the same segment, it might be a better deal because Maruti is a well-known brand, the engines are fuel-efficient, and the prices are reasonable. Maruti Suzuki to launch Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos rival? Date revealed, expectations
Image used for representational purposes and isn't of the Escudo. Maruti Suzuki is preparing to further expand its SUV portfolio with the launch of a new midsize model on September 3, 2025 . While the company has yet to confirm the name or official details, the upcoming SUV is likely to be called the Maruti Escudo. There are also chances that the manufacturer might finally launch the eVitara but as of now, it is not widely expected. Speaking of the Escudo, the model is being positioned as a potential rival to popular names like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Here's a look at what we can expect. Maruti Suzuki Escudo: What to expect This new SUV will be retailed exclusively through Maruti Suzuki's Arena network, unlike the Grand Vitara which is sold via the Nexa channel. In fact, the Escudo will likely share its platform, design cues, and features with the Grand Vitara, but with a few notable changes to create its own identity and possibly appeal to a wider, more price-conscious audience. As so far seen in the spy images, it appears that it still carries over key styling elements from the Grand Vitara. The Escudo is also expected to be slightly longer than the Grand Vitara, offering more cabin space without significantly moving away from the compact footprint of a midsize SUV . by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Dubai's Next Icon: Experience Binghatti Aquarise Luxury Binghatti Developers FZE Learn More Undo The interior is likely to mirror the Grand Vitara and the upcoming e-Vitara in terms of features. Key highlights might include a nine-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, semi-digital instrument cluster, sunroof, and more. Tata Harrier EV Review: Brilliant but just One Flaw! | TOI Auto Under the hood, the Escudo is expected to use the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol mild-hybrid engine that powers the Grand Vitara. This unit produces 103 bhp and is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Maruti may skip the stronger hybrid powertrain to keep costs in check and better differentiate its Arena and Nexa product lines. With the launch just months away, the Escudo looks poised to add another strong contender to the highly competitive midsize SUV space. Full details will be revealed at its official debut on September 3. Discover everything about the automotive world at Times of India .

Maruti Suzuki Escudo to launch this Diwali, set to challenge Creta, Seltos
Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for one of its most aggressive product offensives in recent years with the upcoming launch of its brand new SUV, expected to be named the Maruti Suzuki Escudo. Slated for a Diwali 2025 release, the SUV – internally codenamed Y17 – is aimed directly at the heart of India's mid-size SUV market, currently ruled by the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. With SUVs now accounting for nearly half of all passenger vehicle sales in India, Maruti is strategically positioning the Escudo to capitalise on this booming demand. While premium in size and features, the Escudo is expected to be more accessible than Maruti's Nexa offerings, thanks to its Arena dealership rollout. What to expect from the Maruti Suzuki Escudo The Escudo will bridge the gap between the compact Brezza and the premium Grand Vitara, targeting customers who need more space and features but want to avoid the higher price tags of Nexa models. Built on Suzuki's Global-C platform, the Escudo will likely feature a longer wheelbase than the Grand Vitara (4,345 mm), improving rear-seat space and boot capacity – key buying factors in the family SUV segment. Its main rivals? The Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos – leaders in a segment that controls over 35% of India's SUV market share. Powertrain options: Petrol, hybrid, and CNG The Escudo is expected to offer a wide range of powertrain options similar to those in the Grand Vitara lineup, including: 1.5L petrol engine (\~103 hp) with 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox; 2WD and optional AllGrip AWD 1.5L strong-hybrid variant (\~115 hp) with e-CVT, aimed at buyers focused on fuel efficiency CNG variant (\~86-88 hp), reinforcing Maruti's commitment to alternative fuel options This diverse lineup ensures Maruti caters to both performance-oriented and fuel-conscious customers. Pricing and availability: Affordable yet feature rich Unlike the Grand Vitara, the Escudo will be sold via Maruti Suzuki's Arena dealerships, increasing its reach, especially in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. This move is aimed at giving mass-market buyers a taste of premium without the Nexa level price barrier. * Expected starting price: Around ₹10 lakh for the base petrol variant * Top end hybrid: Likely to go up to ₹20 lakh * Launch timeline: Diwali 2025, aligning with India's peak festive shopping season Strategic shift: From 7 seater to comfort focused 5 seater Initially speculated to be a 7 seater, the Escudo has reportedly pivoted to a spacious 5 seater format. According to an insider cited by Autocar Professional, this decision was based on buyer feedback, which prioritised comfort, practicality, and better boot space over additional seating. Escudo and e-Vitara: Twin SUV blitz from Maruti The Escudo is just one part of Maruti Suzuki's upcoming SUV double-act. The carmaker is also set to launch the e-Vitara, its first fully electric SUV, around September 2025. This two-pronged strategy allows Maruti to compete aggressively in both traditional ICE and emerging EV segments. Why the Escudo matters The Escudo's key appeal lies in its blend of space, pricing, powertrain variety, and wide availability. It promises more size and premium feel than the Brezza, better pricing than the Grand Vitara, and a broader sales footprint via Arena. The multiple fuel options — petrol, hybrid, and CNG, possibly paired with AWD — make it a rare all-rounder in its class. Combined with a Diwali 2025 launch, a strong dealership network, and a sharply targeted product positioning, the Escudo has the potential to be Maruti Suzuki's next big success story in the SUV space. Final word If Maruti executes the Escudo launch as planned, the SUV could redefine competition in India's mid-size market. With everything from aggressive pricing and flexible engine options to wide dealership access, the Escudo is poised to take on the segment's biggest players and possibly disrupt the Creta-Seltos duopoly.
