. While the company has yet to confirm the name or official details, the upcoming SUV is likely to be called the Maruti Escudo. There are also chances that the manufacturer might finally launch the eVitara but as of now, it is not widely expected. Speaking of the Escudo, the model is being positioned as a potential rival to popular names like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Here's a look at what we can expect.
Maruti Suzuki Escudo: What to expect
This new SUV will be retailed exclusively through Maruti Suzuki's Arena network, unlike the
Grand Vitara
which is sold via the Nexa channel. In fact, the Escudo will likely share its platform, design cues, and features with the Grand Vitara, but with a few notable changes to create its own identity and possibly appeal to a wider, more price-conscious audience.
As so far seen in the spy images, it appears that it still carries over key styling elements from the Grand Vitara. The Escudo is also expected to be slightly longer than the Grand Vitara, offering more cabin space without significantly moving away from the compact footprint of a

Under the hood, the Escudo is expected to use the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol mild-hybrid engine that powers the Grand Vitara. This unit produces 103 bhp and is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Maruti may skip the stronger hybrid powertrain to keep costs in check and better differentiate its Arena and Nexa product lines.
With the launch just months away, the Escudo looks poised to add another strong contender to the highly competitive midsize SUV space. Full details will be revealed at its official debut on September 3.

Thanks to numerous new entrants, the electric car space is heated with all the buzz and excitement. Surprisingly, the country's largest carmaker has stayed away from this business domain. However, it has now announced to launch a new car on September 3, which we expect to be the Maruti Suzuki E Vitara. The all-electric SUV made its first public showcase in the country at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. While the carmaker has not yet confirmed if it's the E Vitara, rumours have it that Maruti Suzuki could also be planning to launch a flagship SUV under its Arena retail channel. Talking of the Maruti Suzuki E Vitara, as the company earlier said that the Escudo (flagship Arena SUV) will come at a later stage - the electric SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, MG ZS EV and more. The Indian spec Suzuki E Vitara will come with two battery pack options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh (as offered in the UK). The smaller battery pack will offer a WLTP range of 346 km, while the bigger battery pack is rated to offer 428 km of range in its single-motor configuration. Meanwhile, the dual-motor variant with the 61 kWh battery pack will offer 412 km of range. For perspective, it is as big as the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, but gets a longer wheelbase, measuring at 2,700 mm. The ground clearance stands at 180 mm (laden). As for the wheel tracks, the front tapes in at 1,540 mm, while the rear is wider by 5 mm. The Indian market's variant options for the E Vitara are not yet confirmed, but it is available overseas in three trims: Club, Comfort, and Comfort Plus. The standard features include adaptive cruise control, a telescopic steering wheel, a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, ambient lighting, and keyless entry. The Comfort Plus model adds features like 19-inch wheels, a power-adjustable driver's seat, an upgraded sound system, wireless phone charging, fog lights, and a 360-degree camera system.

Hyundai Creta celebrates 10 years. Here's a look at the popular SUV
The Hyundai Creta has completed ten years in the Indian market, having first launched in July 2015. Over the past decade, the SUV has gone from being a newcomer in the mid-size segment to becoming a consistent performer in terms of volume and visibility, reflecting broader changes in consumer preferences and the SUV market in India. The Creta entered a space that, at the time, had just two prominent players. By 2025, that number has grown to over a dozen models, underscoring the rise in demand for mid-size SUVs. Despite increased competition, Hyundai has managed to maintain the Creta's position at or near the top of the sales charts every year since launch. In India, the SUV competes with rivals like the Honda Elevate, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Skoda Kushaq. According to Hyundai Motor India, the Creta has sold over 12 lakh units in the domestic market since its debut. In 2016, it recorded 92,926 units in annual sales, which nearly doubled to 1,86,919 units by 2024. In the first half of 2025, it was among the top-selling SUVs and even led overall vehicle sales in three of those six months. Internal figures shared by the company suggest the Creta holds over 31 per cent of the mid-size SUV market. Notably, its share of first-time car buyers has increased from 12 per cent in 2020 to 29 per cent in 2024, while sunroof-equipped versions made up about 70 per cent of its sales in early 2025, indicating a broader shift in buyer expectations and priorities within the segment. The Creta's decade-long run coincides with a significant transformation in how Indian buyers view SUVs. Features like panoramic sunroofs, connected car tech, and multiple engine-transmission options have become increasingly important. As the mid-size SUV category expands with newer entrants across price bands, the model's continued relevance points to the changing criteria by which customers now evaluate vehicles. The Creta is also exported to over 13 countries, with 2.87 lakh units shipped overseas. It's available with petrol, diesel, turbo-petrol, and electric powertrains, and comes with both manual and automatic transmissions.
