Oman, Bulgaria discuss ways to enhance ties
SOFIA: The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Bulgaria on Thursday held a round of official talks in the city of Sofia, with the aim of enhancing bilateral relations. The Omani side was headed by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, while the Bulgarian side was led by Rosen Dimitrov Zhelyazkov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria. The session dealt with various aspects of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and explored new vistas for developing partnerships in economic, cultural and scientific fields, with the prime objective of exchanging joint benefits and realising common interests. During the talks, the two sides also exchanged views about regional and international issues of common concern. They expressed their keenness to foster diplomatic coordination, hold regular consultations and exchange visits to meet their shared goals and values that call for consolidating pillars of peace and security and achieving international justice, peaceful coexistence and prosperity among nations. The session was attended by Yousef bin Ahmed al Jabri, the Sultanate of Oman's Non-resident Ambassador to Bulgaria, Munthir bin Mahfoudh al Mandheri, Head of the Europe Department at the Foreign Ministry, and other officials from the two countries. - ONA

Oman, Germany discuss closer ties amid regional tensions
MUSCAT: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, received here on Sunday Dr Johann David Wadephul, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany to discuss strengthening bilateral ties. The two sides explored opportunities to expand economic cooperation, with a particular focus on renewable energy initiatives. On the political front, the two sides exchanged views on the serious tensions currently gripping the region due to Israel's military aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran. The ministers also discussed developments in ceasefire negotiations for the Gaza Strip, updates on the Yemeni crisis, and ways to contain conflicts and crises through dialogue and peaceful means. Both sides emphasised that security and stability cannot be achieved through violence or the imposition of military solutions, stressing that the only path to just and lasting peace lies in political negotiations, diplomatic channels, adherence to justice and international law, and respect for state sovereignty. H M Sultan Haitham, Lammy review strategic relations
Muscat – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik gave an audience at Al Barakah Palace on Sunday to David Lammy, United Kingdom's Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs. The meeting reviewed the historical and strategic relations between the two countries, as well as the Omani-British partnership that boosts economic diversification in the sultanate. Lammy lauded His Majesty the Sultan's modern development policies and the tangible impact of these across the country, while reaffirming the British government's keenness to bolstering cooperation and investment in various fields. His Majesty the Sultan expressed his appreciation for the bilateral cooperation and coordination between the two countries' governments, welcoming current partnerships and future prospects. Lammy also touched on several regional and international developments and heard His Majesty the Sultan's perspectives on these matters. He expressed interest in the ceasefire efforts in Gaza and the pursuit of peace and stability, as well as the ongoing US-Iranian negotiations through Omani mediation to reach a new agreement concerning Tehran's nuclear programme for peaceful purposes. Oman, UK mark 225 years of enduring relations
Muscat – The 16th session of the Oman-UK Joint Working Group convened on Sunday at the Foreign Ministry, underscoring the enduring partnership between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Kingdom. The Omani delegation was led by H E Sheikh Khalifa al Harthy, Undersecretary for Political Affairs, while the UK delegation was headed by Hamish Falconer, Minister for the Middle East and North Africa. Discussions during the meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring avenues for cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including culture, tourism, education, vocational training, environment and renewable energy. The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual interest. 'I had a dialogue on boosting growth and clean energy in both countries. We also discussed regional security, jointly calling for the return to a ceasefire in Gaza and an end to bloodshed,' Falconer posted on X. The meeting was attended by Mundhir bin Mahfoudh al Mandhari, Head of Europe Department; Abdullah bin Hamad al Riyami, Head of Cultural Cooperation Department; H E Dr Lianne Saunders, UK Ambassador to Oman; and representatives of relevant government entities. They also exchanged views on regional and international developments.
