Ex-Rams second-round RB signs with Saints

Ex-Rams second-round RB signs with Saints Cam Akers will join this third team in three years after the former Los Angeles Rams second-round pick signed with the New Orleans Saints this week, according to The Athletic's Dianna Russini. Akers began his career with the Rams in 2020, rushing 360 times for 1,443 yards and 10 touchdowns in 30 games. He missed the entire 2021 season after Akers tore his Achilles before the season. The Rams traded Akers to the Minnesota Vikings after two games in 2023 for unknown reasons, giving way to Kyren Williams taking over the starting role. Williams went on to rush for 1,144 yards and 12 touchdowns that season. Akers, meanwhile, sustained another Achilles injury in Week 9 and missed the rest of the year for Minnesota. He started the 2024 season with the Houston Texans before being traded back to the Vikings before Week 7. For his career, Akers has rushed 502 times for 2,025 yards and 13 touchdowns. Now, he'll join a crowded Saints backfield with Alvin Kamara, former 2020 first-round running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Kendre Miller, and 2025 sixth-round pick Devin Neal.

Ex-Rams QB named UFL Offensive Player of the Year

Ex-Rams QB named UFL Offensive Player of the Year Los Angeles Rams fans might recognize the UFL's 2025 Offensive Player of the Year. Bryce Perkins, who played five games for the team and started one in 2022, took home the UFL's top offensive award Tuesday after he led the Michigan Panthers to the UFL championship game. He also was named to the all-UFL team. Perkins went 4-2 as a starter with a 69% completion rate, 1,342 passing yards, nine passing touchdowns, five rushing touchdowns and two interceptions. Perkins, who has recently credited Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford for teaching him how to complete no-look passes, went undrafted out of Virginia before he signed with the Rams in 2020. He didn't make his NFL debut until 2022 when he lost 26-10 to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 12 and threw for 100 passing yards, one touchdown and two interceptions that season. Perkins and the Panthers take on the DC Defenders in the UFL championship game.

Former Rams QB named to All-UFL team as one of the league's top players

The Los Angeles Rams gave Bryce Perkins a shot in 2020 when they signed the former Virginia quarterback as an undrafted rookie. He remained with the team for three years before making the jump to the UFL in 2024 where he's enjoyed a lot of success with the Michigan Panthers. He made his first career start against the Chiefs in 2022, throwing one touchdown pass and two interceptions in a 26-10 loss on the road. It was the only touchdown pass of his NFL career thus far. Advertisement Though things haven't worked out for Perkins on the NFL, he could get another look this year after being voted the best quarterback in the UFL. On Monday, the All-UFL team was announced and Perkins got the nod as the top quarterback in the league. He finished the regular season ranked fourth in the UFL with 1,342 yards passing, nine touchdown passes and only two interceptions despite only playing seven games. Another former Rams quarterback, Luis Perez, led the UFL with 2,298 yards passing in the 10 games he played. Perkins is known for his mobility and electric running ability, though, which is where he did a lot of damage in the UFL. He finished 14th in the league with 269 yards on the ground, scoring five rushing touchdowns. He averaged 5.7 yards per attempt, with his longest run being a 31-yard scamper. Advertisement It's not unreasonable to think a team in the NFL could give Perkins another shot this summer after seeing him excel in the UFL. Even the Rams could give him an opportunity behind Matthew Stafford and Jimmy Garoppolo, letting him compete against Stetson Bennett for the third spot on the depth chart. That ship has likely sailed for Sean McVay and the Rams' coaching staff but it's fun to see Perkins thriving in the spring league, nonetheless. NFL player Jake McQuaide causes scene in church, demands answers in archdiocese porn scandal—escorted out by police

NFL long snapper Jake McQuaide challenges church mid-Mass over shocking porn claims, gets removed (Getty Images) NFL players often make headlines for their performances on the field, but former Rams long snapper Jake McQuaide made waves for a completely different reason — and in a place far from any football stadium. On a quiet Saturday morning at Our Lady of the Visitation Church in Green Township, Ohio, McQuaide stood up during Mass and demanded answers from the Cincinnati Archdiocese regarding troubling rumors about clergy misconduct. Tense moment as NFL's Jake McQuaide interrupts church to confront clergy in pornography scandal probe It was an extraordinary moment for a man whose professional career has been built on consistency and discretion. Long snappers rarely find themselves in the spotlight, but McQuaide — a two-time Pro Bowler and veteran of 14 NFL seasons — didn't hesitate to speak out when he felt silence had gone on long enough. The confrontation occurred as Jason Williams, chancellor of the Cincinnati Archdiocese, was reading a prepared letter from Archbishop Robert Casey. The letter addressed controversial claims that two priests had allegedly accessed pornography using a parish computer. While the statement emphasized that 'no wrongdoing — either criminally or ecclesiastically — has been substantiated,' McQuaide wasn't content to let the issue rest there. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trading CFD dengan Teknologi dan Kecepatan Lebih Baik IC Markets Mendaftar Undo Ex-Rams long snapper sparks chaos in Mass, demands justice in archdiocese's porn scandal (Credit: USA Today Sports) 'Please take a second. We want to put these rumors to rest. Can you answer this for me, fact or fiction?' McQuaide asked, invoking the spirit of Sister Aloysius from the 2008 film Doubt. He continued, 'Did the priest use our parish computer to look at pornography? …True or false? True or false?' "You can look at pornography at your house, but you cannot do it here.' A tense moment unfolded in the sanctuary as churchgoers looked on. When someone at the altar suggested it wasn't the right time or place, McQuaide responded, 'I'm sorry, sir, this is the time and the place. I will stand up.' His outburst was met with swift action — two Green Township police officers escorted him out. However, no charges were filed. At the center of the controversy is a report made earlier this year by church member Todd Zureick. According to a WCPO investigation and a report in the Cincinnati Enquirer, Zureick claimed to have seen explicit thumbnails and links to disturbing VR role-play content involving sexual assault and occult themes on a church-owned laptop. The allegations were serious enough to merit an internal investigation, but the church maintained that nothing criminal or ecclesiastically inappropriate had been found. 'Like gossip, the spreading of rumors is sinful, and we should all work to overcome this tendency of our fallen human nature,' the letter from Archbishop Casey read. Yet for McQuaide, who grew up in the area and attended Elder High School — a Catholic institution within the same diocese — the issue seemed too serious to ignore. With 197 NFL games under his belt, and a reputation built on discipline and precision, McQuaide's decision to speak out publicly speaks volumes about his personal convictions.
