U15 Boys Dominate Women's National Soccer Team

U15 Boys Dominate Women's National Soccer Team originally appeared on The Spun. It's never a good sign when a national team loses to a team of players about half their age. Unfortunately, that was the case in a recent friendly between a women's national team and a teenage team. Advertisement On Wednesday, the Switzerland women's national team played the Under-15 boys team representing FC Luzern. Switzerland are the No. 23 ranked team in the world while Luzern's team was comprised of boys mostly of age 14 and under. The boys dominated. Luzern came away with a dominating 7-1 win. What's more distressing is that the women's team didn't even publicize the results of the game, suggesting that the team might be trying to avoid some embarrassment. They're set to play in the Women's European Championship in a few days. If they're trying to hide the embarrassment though, they've failed. Fans on social media have been mocking the team, and women's soccer players in general, for sustaining such a loss to players significantly younger than them. Advertisement "No surprise here. This just proves why men shouldn't be allowed in women's sports, plain and simple," one user remarked. "The U15 boys should get the same amount of money as the ladies pls," another mocked. "Only 7? They went easy on them," a third declared. "This is so very dissapointing to did these boys allow themselves to concede a goal?!" "I think we should actually test which age group they could outperform, I'm genuinely curious. Could even kids under 12 defeat them? A 7–1 score is a massive difference, and I wonder where the cutoff is. 11 years old? 10? This should honestly be tested for the sake of humanity…" HARRISON, NJ - JUNE 19: A general view of Nike game balls on the field prior to the first half of the NWSL soccer game between NJ/NY Gotham FC and San Diego Wave FC on June 19, 2022 at Red Bull Arena in HArrison, NJ. (Photo by Rich Graessle/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images)It's commonly asserted that matchups between women's teams and men's youth teams like this are more for conditioning than any competitive needs. And in either event, publishing the outcome won't do the women's teams any good. Advertisement If they beat down a youth team, then they would be called out for beating up on kids. If they lose, they get mocked for losing - like so. But in an age where the "battle of the sexes" has become a political issue and one in which results are all that matter, it's simply not a good look for Switzerland's national team. St Johnstone make key changes to Simo Valakari's staff

He joins assistant manager, Andy Kirk, in heading for the exit door this summer. It is expected that Valakari will appoint fresh faces to his staff, as Saints aim to rebuild and reshape the first team squad ahead of their tilt at next season's Scottish Championship title following relegation from the top-flight last month. A club statement reads: "The club can confirm that there will be a restructuring of the football department as we look ahead to the 2025/26 season. "Assistant manager Andy Kirk and first team coach Alex Cleland both depart. We thank them greatly for all of their contributions. "Andy arrived at McDiarmid Park as assistant to Craig Levein in November 2023 and, during his time with us, also took on the role of interim manager. "He operated with professionalism throughout, and we wish him all the very best for the future. "Alex joined in the summer of 2009 to work alongside Derek McInnes and Tony Docherty for our return to top-flight football. "While managers moved on through the years, Alex remained a constant. He played his part in us winning three pieces of major silverware – the Scottish Cup in 2014 and 2021, as well as the League Cup in 2021. "Alex was also first team coach throughout numerous top six finishes and memorable European adventures, including advancing beyond both Rosenborg and FC Luzern. "He stepped into the role of interim manager on more than one occasion and always went about his business with the utmost professionalism. "Not just a positive influence on first team senior squad members, Alex has also helped shape the careers of countless young footballers who transitioned through our academy. "Again, we thank Alex for his major contribution to St Johnstone Football Club and wish him the very best for the future. "We will provide supporters with a further update in due course."
