Nebraska freshman Leo Curtis scores 20 points in Iceland's victory over Ukraine

Nebraska freshman Leo Curtis delivered another strong outing for his home country of Iceland in the FIBA U20 EuroBasket Championships in Heraklion, Greece, on Saturday. Curtis scored 22 points, helping the team to an 88-67 win over Ukraine. This is Curtis' second 20-point game of the tournament, having dropped 20 in Iceland's win over Slovenia on Monday. He's only finished one game below double digits in scoring. In the win over Ukraine, Curtis shot 8-of-19 from the floor and hauled in eight rebounds in the win. The 7-foot-1 forward also finished 7-of-14 from two-point range and 5-of-8 from the free throw line. Curtis's performance was impressive early on, tallying up nine points, two rebounds, and a block in the opening quarter, helping Iceland to a lopsided 29-6 lead. He then scored an additional eight points in the second quarter, sending him into halftime with a 17-point outing. Through six games, Curtis leads Iceland in points per game (15), rebounds per game (8.2), and blocks per game (2.2). Across all 16 teams, Curtis ranks ninth in points per game and third in rebounds per game. With the win, Iceland improves to 2-4 and will conclude the tournament against Germany on Sunday.
