Nebraska freshman Leo Curtis scores 20 points in Iceland's victory over Ukraine
This is Curtis' second 20-point game of the tournament, having dropped 20 in Iceland's win over Slovenia on Monday. He's only finished one game below double digits in scoring.
In the win over Ukraine, Curtis shot 8-of-19 from the floor and hauled in eight rebounds in the win. The 7-foot-1 forward also finished 7-of-14 from two-point range and 5-of-8 from the free throw line.
Curtis's performance was impressive early on, tallying up nine points, two rebounds, and a block in the opening quarter, helping Iceland to a lopsided 29-6 lead. He then scored an additional eight points in the second quarter, sending him into halftime with a 17-point outing.
Through six games, Curtis leads Iceland in points per game (15), rebounds per game (8.2), and blocks per game (2.2). Across all 16 teams, Curtis ranks ninth in points per game and third in rebounds per game.
With the win, Iceland improves to 2-4 and will conclude the tournament against Germany on Sunday. Tipoff is set for 7:30 a.m. on the FIBA YouTube channel.

Indiana Fever update Caitlin Clark injury status, availability vs New York Liberty
With the 2025 WNBA All-Star break concluded, the Indiana Fever provided an injury status update to star Caitlin Clark entering their Tuesday night matchup against the New York Liberty from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Clark, who suffered a right groin injury late in the Fever's July 15 victory over the Connecticut Sun, missed Indiana's blowout loss against the Liberty last Wednesday and opted out of the entire All-Star weekend to focus on her recovery. According to head coach Stephanie White, the Fever do not anticipate Clark being made available when they take the floor in Brooklyn on Tuesday. "I haven't seen C [Clark] since the game last night, but I think she's progressing. I think that we're continuing to address everything that needs to be addressed. She's going to see some doctors and get some more tests done early in the week. "I don't expect her to be available on Tuesday, so we're just going to continue to take it one day at a time and let her get her evaluation early this week. Once we've done that, hopefully we'll have more of a clear mind of what it looks like," White said of Clark's status. With Clark most likely unavailable for Indiana, the team will need to rely heavily on Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston to bear the load on offense with impactful contributions off the bench for the time being. Who's better: Cassius Winston or Braden Smith? Social media buzzing about this player debate
Social media was buzzing this week after an analyst gave Cassius Winston the nod over Purdue's Braden Smith in a 2020s All-Big Ten list Who is a better and more accomplished point guard: Michigan State's Cassius Winston or Purdue's Braden Smith? This question has been a hot debate on social media this past week. Rapheal Davis of the Big Ten Network sparked a hot debate this week when he unveiled his All-Big Ten teams of the 2020s, with one of the biggest discussions on social media being centered around Winston and Smith. Davis gave Winston the nod as the first team selection at point guard over Smith -- who landed on Davis' second team. It's even more notable that Davis that gave Winston the nod over Smith since Davis played at Purdue himself and could have easily gave his former school's guy the nod in a toss-up decision. Davis noted that Smith could surpass Winston with a strong upcoming senior season, but some (probably many Purdue fans) felt he already deserved the nod over the Spartans legend. When comparing the two star point guard's careers, they are very much similar with both experiencing both personal and team success during their time in college. Smith, of course, still has one more year to further improve his legacy -- and it doesn't hurt his case that the Boilermakers are considered a preseason top five team nationally (in large part to his return for his senior season). To complete a side-by-side comparison, here is a link to Winston's sports reference page and here is a link to Smith's. So who would you personally give the nod too? If you're reading this article, you're probably like me and a Spartan, which means you would lean towards Winston. But I do respect the argument for Smith, and wouldn't be opposed to him moving into the first team slot should he have another strong year this upcoming season. Regardless of which way you lean, it's a fun debate to have in the middle of July and I personally thank Davis for putting this list together for some fun Big Ten basketball banter in the heart of summer time.
