Is Fallout season 2 releasing in July 2025? Everything we know so far

By Aman Shukla Published on June 28, 2025, 18:30 IST Last updated June 28, 2025, 11:39 IST Okay, Fallout fans, let's cut through the noise. Season 1 of the Prime Video show had us all losing our minds with its retro-apocalyptic chaos, and now we're itching for Season 2. There's this stubborn rumor about a July 2025 release, but is it true? Here's everything we know so far Is Fallout Season 2 Releasing in July 2025? Look, we get why people thought July 2025. Season 1 hit in April 2024, and fans were doing mental math, hoping for a quick turnaround. But here's the real talk: Amazon spilt the beans at their May 2025 Upfront thing, saying Fallout Season 2 is coming in December 2025. They wrapped filming in May 2025, and even with all the fancy CGI (those deathclaws don't draw themselves), December makes sense. It's not as fast as we hoped, but it's way better than the 2026 vibe some folks were dreading. So, mark your calendars for a winter wasteland binge. Fallout Season 2 Potential Cast The gang's all here, and we're getting some fresh blood too: Ella Purnell as Lucy, still rocking that Vault dweller optimism (kinda). as Lucy, still rocking that Vault dweller optimism (kinda). Walton Goggins as The Ghoul, serving looks and sarcasm in equal measure. as The Ghoul, serving looks and sarcasm in equal measure. Aaron Moten as Maximus, the Brotherhood bro with big dreams. as Maximus, the Brotherhood bro with big dreams. Kyle MacLachlan as Hank, who's got more secrets than a Vault-Tec exec. as Hank, who's got more secrets than a Vault-Tec exec. Moisés Arias as Norm, Lucy's sneaky brother stirring up trouble. as Norm, Lucy's sneaky brother stirring up trouble. Leslie Uggams as Overseer Betty, maybe stepping up this season. A major casting highlight is Macaulay Culkin, who joins as a 'crazy genius-type character,' though details about his role remain under wraps. There's also speculation about Anthony Misiano returning as Mr. House, the enigmatic ruler of New Vegas, potentially in a recast or expanded role. Other surviving Season 1 characters, like Zach Cherry's Woody and Annabel O'Hagan's Stephanie, are expected to appear, though not all have been officially confirmed. What to expect in Fallout Season 2 Season 1 left us hanging—Lucy's dad, Hank, is up to some shady Vault-Tec stuff, The Ghoul's chasing ghosts from his pre-war days, and Maximus is trying to be a Brotherhood of Steel rockstar. Now, Season 2's taking us to New Vegas. If you've played Fallout: New Vegas , you're probably freaking out like other hardcore fans. Set leaks show cool stuff like Dinky the T-Rex and hints of the New California Republic (NCR). Maybe even Caesar's Legion? The plot's gonna dig into New Vegas' power games, with Lucy (Ella Purnell) hunting her dad, The Ghoul (Walton Goggins) getting answers, and Maximus (Aaron Moten) dodging wasteland drama. Oh, and expect more Fallout game nods to make us geeks squeal. Ahmedabad Plane Crash Aman Shukla is a post-graduate in mass communication . Jessica Lynne cosplayed as Red Sonja, who is Conan the Barbarian's battle maiden. 'People really love the costumes even if they don't know who exactly I was, they have liked the detail in it,' she said. 'It's taken a few months to put together. It's always about getting the right wig, making sure you've got the right material because she needs to look rough like a barbarian.' More than 135,000 super-fans are expected to pass through the event over the weekend, with an action-packed program including celebrity meet and greets, collectables, artists and more. Jacob Elordi, Tom Holland, and Harris Dickinson eyed for Denis Villeneuve's James Bond film: Reports

After Denis Villeneuve was announced as the director of the next James Bond film, rumours of the actor in the runing to play the British spy has once again begun doing the rounds. According to reports, the movie that won't be ready before 2028, is syeing British actors under 30 to take on the role. Contrary to former reports, it has been reported that Amazon is eyeing Jacob Elordi , Tom Holland , and Harris Dickinson to take on the role. Although Elordi is Australian, that doesn't seem to be a problem here. Old fans favorites are like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Cavill, and Idris Elba are reportedly unlikely to fit the bill due to their age. Amazon previously expressed their desire to bring Christopher Nolan on board to direct the next Bond film. However, as the director is now busy with his next film The Odyssey, starring Tom Holland, he won't be available for at least a year. Now the studio is reportedly focusing on hiring a screenwriter like Jonathan Nolan who impressed them with his series 'Fallout'. They are also reportedly impressed with his vision for the Bond franchise, but he is not unavailable because of other commitments. Villeneuve, who is Canadian, said he grew up watching Bond films with his father. "I'm a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he's sacred territory," Villeneuve said in a statement released by Amazon. "I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come," he added. "This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honor." Amazon paid nearly $8.45 billion to buy legendary Hollywood studio MGM in 2022, which included distribution rights to Bond's extensive back catalog. But for the subsequent three years, the retail behemoth was met with resistance from Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, the franchise's historic producers who for decades had jealously guarded the governance of one of cinema's most valuable properties. The company run by Jeff Bezos finally reached a financial agreement with the pair in February to take creative control of the franchise.

Split screen: Why Amazon has a twin-track streaming play in India

MUMBAI: While global streamers consolidate into super apps, Amazon is doing the opposite in India. It is running two distinct platforms, Prime Video and MX Player, each catering to sharply different user bases. 'India is a highly heterogeneous market. Prime Video serves customers who are subscription-ready and have adopted streaming as their primary entertainment option,' Gaurav Gandhi, vice president – Asia Pacific & MENA, Prime Video, said while speaking at the Asia Pacific Video Operators Summit (APOS) 2025 in Bali on Thursday. 'MX Player, on the other hand, targets a more transitional audience — mobile-first users who are still anchored in traditional media but seeking quality content without the barrier of a paywall.' Amazon acquired MX Player from Times Internet in 2023 and has since integrated it as an ad-supported service under the Amazon umbrella, while continuing to scale its subscription-led flagship, Prime Video. Prime Video positions itself as a full-fledged entertainment hub, offering premium originals, global content, movie rentals, and third-party channels. MX Player operates in the ad-supported space, targeting scale and reach across Bharat, with a reported 250 million monthly users. This separation, Gandhi said, enables Amazon to serve both ends of India's digital consumption spectrum — from immersive cinematic storytelling to daily on-the-go escapes. Nikhil Madhok, head of originals at Prime Video India, who oversees Prime Video's local original content, said the company has always focused on delivering content that is not just localised but also deeply differentiated from what's on television. 'Our investment levels are closer to cinema than TV. The idea was always to create content that could hold its own alongside global shows like Fallout or The Boys,' he said while speaking at the event. Series like Made in Heaven, The Family Man, Paatal Lok, and Call Me Bae have become multi-season franchises, building loyalty and scale over time. On the film front, Prime Video's model spans licensing, direct-to-streaming, co-productions and, most recently, theatrical releases. 'We started with licensing post-theatrical releases, then direct-to-streaming during the pandemic, and later co-productions,' Madhok said. 'Now, through Amazon MGM Studios, we've entered the theatrical space directly. Starting 2026, we will release four to six Amazon-produced films in theatres each year, beginning with Nishaanchi by Anurag Kashyap this September.' For MX Player, the content strategy is driven by deep consumer insights from a vast and socio-culturally diverse base, said Amogh Dusad, head of content at Amazon MX Player. The biggest upcoming bet from MX Player is MX Fatafat — a micro-drama vertical format series aimed squarely at India's mobile-first audience. With episodes clocking in at 1–2 minutes and designed to be consumed in short bursts across 80–100 episodes per story, the new format is built for scroll-happy viewers. Despite differences in platform logic, Gandhi emphasised that both services share a common creator-first philosophy. 'We've been very deliberate in bringing new voices to the fore — more than 50% of Prime Video's projects have first-time creators involved,' he said. 'With MX Fatafat, we're co-creating with emerging talent. This kind of intentionality helps grow the creative economy and expand the total addressable market for storytellers.' Amazon has also added an ad-supported tier to Prime Video in India and Japan — a move Gandhi said allows the platform to reinvest more into content while giving consumers choice. Early signs show traction with both consumers and advertisers, especially when combined with Amazon's wider full-funnel ad solutions across e-commerce and video. While most rivals consolidate, Amazon is choosing fragmentation and this may be its edge in a crowded and noisy market. Even as global content budgets shrink, Amazon is doubling down on India. 'We feel optimistic about the streaming landscape,' Gandhi said. 'It's still early days. Whether it's theatrical releases, multi-language originals, or short-form innovations — there's significant headroom for growth.' Globally, Prime Video has around 200 million paid memberships as of February 2025, and while the company doesn't disclose geographical data, various industry sources put India subscriber base between 11 million and 13 million. Amazon MX Player, reaches over 250 million monthly unique users, securing its place among the largest AVOD players in the country. India's OTT market, valued at approximately $3.5 billion in 2024, is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 17% for the rest of the decade.

'The Boys' season 5 reportedly just finished filming — here's when we think it'll debut on Prime Video

"The Boys" season 5 could be arriving on Prime Video sooner than we think. On Saturday (June 21), actress Isabella Crovetti posted a pair of photos to their Instagram story from what appeared to be the "The Boys" season 5 wrap party (h/t Bleeding Cool). The photos have since disappeared, but the fan account The Boys Universe screencaptured the photos and shared them on their own Instagram account. A post shared by The Boys Universe (@ A photo posted by on Isabella might not be a familiar name to fans of Prime Video's superhero show, but her brother Cameron Crovetti plays Ryan Butcher on the show and is set to have a big role in the show's final season. As the illegitimate, superpowered son of Homelander (Antony Starr) and Billy Butcher's wife Becca (Shantel VanSanten), he could even be the deciding factor in the war between Homelander and Butcher (Karl Urban). Cameron wasn't the only one spotted at the wrap party, though. Posts from The Boys Universe showed some other show stars in attendance, including Jessie T. Usher (A-Train), Karen Fukuhara (Kimiko), Starr, Nathan Mitchell (Balck Noir II) and Erin Moriarty (Starlight). Barring these photos turning out to be the greatest photoshopped/generative AI-created images ever, it sure looks like "The Boys" has finished principal photography on season 5. Reshoots may eventually be needed, but the final season seems to be ready for the edit bay. But when will we see the last batch of episodes be released on Prime Video? Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. I still think that season 5 won't premiere on Prime Video until 2026. Back in May 2024, both show creator Eric Kripke and show star Karl Urban indicated that season 5 was about two years away. Things may be currently ahead of schedule, given that a May 2026 release window would give "The Boys" a pretty long post-production window of around 11 months, but I don't think they're so far ahead that episodes will be ready in 2025. Plus, the Prime Video release calendar is starting to fill out. "Gen V," the spin-off show of "The Boys," drops its second season in September, and it seems that "Gen V" season 2 will be set between seasons 4 and 5 of "The Boys." That means "The Boys" can't arrive until after the October 22 "Gen V" season 2 finale. Then, "Fallout" season 2 premieres in December, likely extending into January 2026. To allow Prime Video's IP shows room to breathe, that signals to me "The Boys" season 5 won't come any earlier than February 2026. That'd still be a few months ahead of our current projection of May 2026, but with filming now wrapped, I won't be shocked if we see "The Boys" season 5 premiere in early Spring 2026. Malcolm has been with Tom's Guide since 2022, and has been covering the latest in streaming shows and movies since 2023. He's not one to shy away from a hot take, including that "John Wick" is one of the four greatest films ever made. Here's what he's been watching lately:
