Jacob Elordi, Tom Holland, and Harris Dickinson eyed for Denis Villeneuve's James Bond film: Reports

Time of India4 hours ago

After
Denis Villeneuve
was announced as the director of the next James Bond film, rumours of the actor in the runing to play the British spy has once again begun doing the rounds. According to reports, the movie that won't be ready before 2028, is syeing British actors under 30 to take on the role.
Contrary to former reports, it has been reported that
Amazon
is eyeing
Jacob Elordi
,
Tom Holland
, and
Harris Dickinson
to take on the role. Although Elordi is Australian, that doesn't seem to be a problem here. Old fans favorites are like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Cavill, and Idris Elba are reportedly unlikely to fit the bill due to their age.
Amazon previously expressed their desire to bring Christopher Nolan on board to direct the next Bond film. However, as the director is now busy with his next film The Odyssey, starring Tom Holland, he won't be available for at least a year.
Now the studio is reportedly focusing on hiring a screenwriter like Jonathan Nolan who impressed them with his series 'Fallout'. They are also reportedly impressed with his vision for the Bond franchise, but he is not unavailable because of other commitments.
Villeneuve, who is Canadian, said he grew up watching Bond films with his father. "I'm a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he's sacred territory," Villeneuve said in a statement released by Amazon.
"I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come," he added. "This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honor."
Amazon paid nearly $8.45 billion to buy legendary Hollywood studio MGM in 2022, which included distribution rights to Bond's extensive back catalog.
But for the subsequent three years, the retail behemoth was met with resistance from Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, the franchise's historic producers who for decades had jealously guarded the governance of one of cinema's most valuable properties.
The company run by Jeff Bezos finally reached a financial agreement with the pair in February to take creative control of the franchise.

Heads of State review: The action comedy starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, John Cena and Idris Elba is packed with fun and flair

MARKING her continued ascent as an action star, Priyanka Chopra Jonas steps into the boots of Noel Bisset, an elite MI6 agent, to protect two of the world's most high-profile leaders – John Cena as Will Derringer, an action star turned the President of the United States, and Idris Elba as Sam Clarke, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. In this buddy action comedy, Clarke and Derringer, who constantly exchange barbs and make their dislike for each other public, eventually team up to save themselves and the world. The two heads of the state are forced to parachute out of Air Force One when the aircraft is attacked and their security is compromised. They land in a border area of Belarus and make their way to Warshaw in a sheep truck. From then on, the film packs a series of cross country chases, gunfights and fisticuffs that are aimed at keeping the audience on the edge of their seats. The movie, however, starts with Noel Bissett getting grievously injured during a visit to Spain's Buñol on a mission when people are celebrating La Tomatina festival. Turns out she has not only survived that but she is entrusted with the task of ensuring the safety of Clarke and Derringer, who become the targets of a powerful and ruthless foreign adversary. Bissett and Clarke, it is also revealed, were connected romantically in the past while working in the forces. Caught in life-threatening situations as they are forced to rely on each other, Clarke and Derringer are also united in their belief regarding what makes the world a better place. Together they have to find a way to work together to thwart a global conspiracy that threatens the entire free world and make sure NATO continues to fulfil its objectives. A little focus on this crisis would have given the narrative more depth. ALSO READ | Priya Sachdev called Karisma Kapoor-Sunjay Kapur's kids her own, said 'friendship' is the key: 'We have four children' Even though the film occasionally becomes predictable, it remains engaging thanks to its three lead actors and slickly choreographed action sequences. As the ever-optimistic President, John Cena delivers a likable performance, while Idris Elba brings his signature coolness and wry British humour. Chopra, who Jonas has appeared as an action star in a host of movies (Don, Mary Kom) as well as series (Quantico and Citadel), in the Ilya Naishuller-directed film, seems most comfortable enacting the high-energy action scenes. The banter between the heads of state is enjoyable, if not uproariously funny. The camaraderie between Cena and Elba adds a spark to many scenes. Chopra Jonas handles the physically demanding stunts with ease. While the script by Josh Applebaum, André Nemec, and Harrison Query doesn't offer many surprises, it leans into its wacky tone to deliver a consistently entertaining action-comedy. Streaming on Prime Video from June 2. Director: Ilya Naishuller Cast: John Cena, Idris Elba, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Jack Quaid, Paddy Considine, Stephen Root, Carla Gugino Rating: 3 Stars

World's Fastest Keyboard Player & A Padma Shri, But Left ‘Assets Worth Crores' With ‘Ex-Lover'...

Last Updated: Adnan Sami described Pakistan as his "ex-girlfriend," who is jealous of his success. Adnan Sami, who is of Pakistani descent and has formally become an Indian citizen, has once again opened up about his original roots. The singer-composer spoke at length about his decision to leave Pakistan and the circumstances at the time that made him choose a music career in India. In a recent interview, Adnan revealed that it wasn't monetary gains that made him give up his life in Pakistan, mentioning that he actually left assets worth crores when he moved to India. Noting that he could have chosen any foreign country, such as Germany, the UK, Canada, or the US, for a new citizenship, Adnan shared that it was 'conviction" that made him choose India. 'When you're born into a family of a certain faith or social status, it's not your choice; you inherit it. But when you convert and take to another religion, you do so because you study the philosophy of that belief and understand what it stands for. So, it's an informed decision. Making India my home didn't come on a platter. I could have become a German, British, Canadian, or US citizen. I chose India because of conviction. And that's something Pakistan cannot stand," the singer told HT City. Adnan mentioned growing up with the same propaganda in Pakistan and thus decided to move to India to see for himself. 'Now I know exactly how India is and how Pakistan is. If someone says I moved to India for money, I want to tell them that I left assets worth crores when I moved to India," he continued. The singer also wants his children to remember how their father went through several obstacles to get the Indian flag. Adnan Sami's comments come on the heels of his recent interview, where he described Pakistan as an 'ex-lover." Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, he explained, 'When an ex-lover sees you moving on and getting involved with somebody else, they'll always come up with reasons to hate you. But the reason why they actually do that is because they still haven't gotten over you. It's love, and love manifests in many absurd ways." Even though Adnan Sami continues to face heavy criticism from Pakistan over his decision to take Indian citizenship, the singer appears resolute in his stand. The songs that once struggled found recognition in India, earning Adnan overwhelming love and support that he never imagined. In a career spanning over three decades, Adnan Sami has delivered several musical masterpieces like Tera Chehra, Kabhi Toh Nazar Milao, Dil Kya Kare and Noor-e-Khuda. From crooning songs in English, Tamil and Telugu to composing music for Hindi films, Adnan Sami strongly diversified his musical career. Recognising his talent, the Indian government also bestowed Adnan with the prestigious Padma Shri Award in 2021. Recently, he was even nominated to the Padma Awards Committee. First Published:
