‘Kuch Bhi!': Manoj Bajpayee breaks silence on claims that he was offered Aamir Khan's role in Rang De Basanti
'Family Man' actor Manoj Bajpayee has reacted to reports claiming that he was once offered Aamir Khan's role in Bollywood's iconic 2006 movie Rang de Basanti. A media report claimed that the makers of the film waited six years for him to respond before giving away the fan-favourite DJ's role to Aamir. Manoj rejected the claims of being offered Rang de Basanti in place of Aamir Khan. 'Matlab kuch bhi,' he tweeted alongside an emoji. 'Manoj Bajpayee was the first choice for Rang de Basanti, not Aamir Khan,' a Times of India report claimed, citing screenwriter Kamlesh Pandey. Kamlesh reportedly made these claims on Ravya Sarda's YouTube show. 'The film got delayed by 6 years as Manoj didn't respond,' the report further said, claiming that it was originally planned as a small-budget film and faced multiple rejections. Rang De Basanti featured a stellar ensemble cast including Aamir Khan, Siddharth, Soha Ali Khan, R Madhavan, Kunal Kapoor, and Sharman Joshi. Alice Patten, Anupam Kher, Waheeda Rehman, Kirron Kher, and Atul Kulkarni also appeared in the movie directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. Manoj Bajpayee will soon make his OTT comeback as Srikant Tiwari in The Family Man 3. In a recently unveiled poster for the show, Manoj can be seen at the centre, surrounded by masked men, hinting at another high-stakes mission for the undercover intelligence officer. The actor plays a middle-class man balancing family life while secretly working for the Threat Analysis and Surveillance Cell (TASC), a fictional branch of India's National Investigation Agency. The release date for this highly anticipated season of Amazon Prime Video's hit web series is yet to be announced. However, in an earlier interview, the actor told OTTplay that Family Man 3 will air in November this year.

Manoj Bajpayee SHUTS Down Rumours Of Being First Choice For Rang De Basanti: 'Matlab Kuch Bhi'
Manoj Bajpayee shuts down rumours that he was the original choice for Rang De Basanti, reacting with humour to screenwriter Kamlesh Pandey's recent viral claim. Manoj Bajpayee has finally responded to the viral claim that he was the original pick for the iconic role Aamir Khan played in Rang De Basanti—and he did so with a healthy dose of sarcasm and humour. The chatter started after screenwriter Kamlesh Pandey, who co-wrote Rang De Basanti, said in an interview with Ravya Sarda that Manoj had signed on for the role before Aamir came into the picture. Kamlesh shared, 'We had been roaming around with the script of the film for 6 years, and no one was ready to make that film. We had signed Manoj for the role that Aamir played finally. We thought we would make a small film; we didn't have a big budget. The moment Aamir heard the script, he told us that he wanted to do the film, and he even got AR Rahman to come on the project. UTV, who had rejected the film twice in the past, immediately said yes to it." The quote quickly sparked a flurry of headlines suggesting that Manoj Bajpayee had nearly replaced Aamir in what would become a modern classic. But the Family Man star was quick to shut the door on this version of events. On Thursday, Bajpayee reposted one such report on X (formerly Twitter), simply writing: 'Matlab kuch bhi 😂." A second post followed, with the actor adding: 'And who is the producer who said this? Naam to bata!! SM pe itne khali lota le ke baithe hai." His blunt response not only dismissed the rumours but also poked fun at how quickly misinformation spreads online. Matlab kuch bhi 😄 — manoj bajpayee (@BajpayeeManoj) June 26, 2025 Released in 2006, Rang De Basanti went on to become one of the most influential films of the decade, blending youth angst, patriotism, and social commentary in a gripping narrative. Aamir Khan's role as DJ remains one of the most celebrated performances of his career. Meanwhile, Manoj Bajpayee is preparing for his much-awaited return as Srikant Tiwari in The Family Man Season 3. Earlier this week, Prime Video confirmed the new season with an Instagram post that read: 'All eyes on our family men #TheFamilyManOnPrime, New Season, Coming Soon." The poster tagged returning cast members including Priyamani, Sharib Hashmi, and the show's creators Raj & DK. Also tagged were actors like Sundeep Kishan, Shreya Dhanwantary, Jugal Hansraj, Darshan Kumar, Dalip Tahil, Seema Biswas, Vipin Kumar Sharma, and Harman Singha. Fans were especially thrilled to see Gul Panag—who appeared in Season 1—return to the ensemble. Though a release date hasn't been confirmed yet, the buzz surrounding The Family Man Season 3 is already building. And if Manoj's recent social media responses are any indication, he's not just returning to action—he's doing it with sharp wit fully intact. First Published:

'Audiences no longer care about mass films, they just want good content', says Dheeren R Rajkumar
Dheeren R Rajkumar is currently in Mysuru, filming Pabbar — what he calls a deeply passionate project — helmed by Shakhahaari-fame director Sandeep Sunkad. The actor says playing a cop has always been on his wishlist—but this role, he insists, isn't just another cliché. 'There's real depth, emotion and integrity here. The cop in this film is realistic; he's not a hero in a masala flick. Today's audience doesn't care about mass dialogues or mass films. They want content. And that is exactly how I think. I'm a huge fan of content-driven stories—Family Man and The Vortex are among my favourites when it comes to layered portrayals of cops,' he says. I felt incredibly privileged when Shivanna maama said he will produce my movie - Dheeren Rajkumar 'I took taekwondo classes, lost 15 kgs for my role' 'It's an adventure crime thriller that demanded certain physical and emotional skill sets. From the moment I heard the one-line narration from the director, I was hooked, and I knew I'd do whatever it takes to get it right. This film feels special because I'm stepping into uniform for the first time. With that comes an organic sense of discipline and dignity. I also trained in taekwondo and shed 15 kgs for the part,' shares Dheeren. My diet was nothing over the top. I stuck to proteins, minimal carbs and went off sugar. Eating home food and portion control are key to losing weight - Dheeren Rajkumar 'Shivanna maama and Geethatthe 's backing means everything to me' Dheeren opens up about how the film found its producer. 'I went to Shivanna maama (Shivarajkumar) with the story, hoping he'd guide us to someone who could produce it. A few days later, he called to tell me he'd like to back the film himself. I felt incredibly privileged—but I also know I have to work doubly hard to prove I'm worthy of the trust Shivanna maama and Geethatthe have placed in me,' he shares. As an actor, I've realised the script must be in keeping with today's trend. My character needs to be etched well, and I will play it to the best of my ability - Dheeren Rajkumar
