‘Kuch Bhi!': Manoj Bajpayee breaks silence on claims that he was offered Aamir Khan's role in Rang De Basanti

Mint2 days ago

'Family Man' actor Manoj Bajpayee has reacted to reports claiming that he was once offered Aamir Khan's role in Bollywood's iconic 2006 movie Rang de Basanti.
A media report claimed that the makers of the film waited six years for him to respond before giving away the fan-favourite DJ's role to Aamir.
Manoj rejected the claims of being offered Rang de Basanti in place of Aamir Khan.
'Matlab kuch bhi,' he tweeted alongside an emoji.
'Manoj Bajpayee was the first choice for Rang de Basanti, not Aamir Khan,' a Times of India report claimed, citing screenwriter Kamlesh Pandey.
Kamlesh reportedly made these claims on Ravya Sarda's YouTube show.
'The film got delayed by 6 years as Manoj didn't respond,' the report further said, claiming that it was originally planned as a small-budget film and faced multiple rejections.
Rang De Basanti featured a stellar ensemble cast including Aamir Khan, Siddharth, Soha Ali Khan, R Madhavan, Kunal Kapoor, and Sharman Joshi.
Alice Patten, Anupam Kher, Waheeda Rehman, Kirron Kher, and Atul Kulkarni also appeared in the movie directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.
Manoj Bajpayee will soon make his OTT comeback as Srikant Tiwari in The Family Man 3.
In a recently unveiled poster for the show, Manoj can be seen at the centre, surrounded by masked men, hinting at another high-stakes mission for the undercover intelligence officer.
The actor plays a middle-class man balancing family life while secretly working for the Threat Analysis and Surveillance Cell (TASC), a fictional branch of India's National Investigation Agency.
The release date for this highly anticipated season of Amazon Prime Video's hit web series is yet to be announced. However, in an earlier interview, the actor told OTTplay that Family Man 3 will air in November this year.

‘Everyone Looks Same': Yatra Guru Ji Under Fire Disrespecting Nagaland Locals

Travel vlogger Bhanwar Lal Vishnoi is facing backlash after claiming that the faces of Nagaland people look very similar. Bhanwar Lal Vishnoi, popularly known as Yatra Guru Ji, a travel vlogger from Rajasthan, is under fire for posting videos that many believe disrespect women from Nagaland and tribal communities. His recent YouTube uploads, featuring provocative thumbnails and insensitive titles, have sparked widespread outrage on social media. The backlash intensified after a video was posted on June 18, in which Vishnoi commented on the appearance of people in Nagaland. In the clip, he says, 'There's something I want to say, the faces here all look kind of similar. As I walk ahead into a more crowded area, I feel like I've seen these people before. Then I spot someone else and again I feel like I've already met them. All the faces look very similar. I'm not making fun of anyone, but I'm just sharing what I honestly feel. It seems like everyone looks the same." The statement, although prefaced with a disclaimer, has been widely condemned as racially insensitive and ignorant. Social media users and locals have called out the vlogger for his remarks, accusing him of promoting harmful stereotypes. Many are now urging authorities to take legal action against him for his offensive behaviour and for disrespecting tribal communities through his content. Although in the videos, Bhanwar Lal Vishnoi mostly talks about Nagaland and other parts of the Northeast, the thumbnails show local women in a very misleading and disrespectful way. The titles of the videos have also left viewers upset. Speaking with The Print, research scholar Heenu Riba, from Arunachal Pradesh, said, 'He has exotified our bodies. He is not showing our culture in the videos, but selling our bodies for his views." After facing backlash, Yatra Guru Ji posted a new video where he said sorry for hurting the people of the Northeast and for showing women in the wrong way. He also told his audience that his team is now working on changing the thumbnails of the videos. While apologising, Bhanwar Lal Vishnoi also explained why he used such pictures and titles. He said he used them to get more views, as this type of content attracts more attention. At the same time, he also said that his videos are clean and meant to share useful information. Surprisingly, Bhanwar Lal Vishnoi has also shared content with YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who is currently facing serious accusations of sharing sensitive details about the Indian Army after Operation Sindoor. The two were together during several trips, including the Hornbill Festival in Nagaland in 2024.

Video: Zohran Mamdani Gets Awkward As Host Plays His Old Clip In Apron During Live Show

Last Updated: In one of the visuals, Mamdani was seen rapping while wearing a only black apron. New York Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani was taken aback when his 2019 old rap video that showed him wearing an apron without anything underneath, was played during a live interview on global media outlet CNN. This happened when the 33-year-old politician appeared for Erin Burnett OutFront talk show. Show host Erin Burnett played the assemblyman's rap video suddenly. In the video, Zohran Mamdani, along with several others, was seen dancing at various locations, including inside a food truck. The video was posted on YouTube under the name of Mr. Cardamom. In the throwback video, the state assemblyman was joined by his friends and Indian-born British-American actress Madhur Jaffrey. In one of the visuals, Mamdani was seen rapping while wearing a only black apron. During the conversation, the anchor started playing videos from Mamdani's recent campaigns, including one in which he talked about his birth place and the story about how he got his middle name. As the interview progressed, a snippet from his appearance on The Breakfast Club podcast appeared on the screen. It was followed by Burnett introducing the politician's artistic side and playing the rap clip. As the rap continued, Mamdani, apparently shocked, tried to maintain his composure by smiling. However, eventually, he gave in, saying, 'I didn't think it was going to be on CNN." To which, the host replied, 'It's there and there it is." Later, the video was posted on the official X profile of the Erin Burnett OutFront show with a caption that read, Watch as #NYC Mayoral Candidate Zohran Mamdani watches his past performance as a rapper and responds to critics who say he's not ready to run New York. He speaks one-on-one with @ErinBurnett. Recently, Mamdani faced intense scrutiny from Tennessee Republican Congressman Andy Ogles who publicly questioned the legitimacy of his US citizenship, calling for his deportation if it was fraudulently obtained. Mamdani was born in Uganda to Indian parents and immigrated to the United States two decades ago and became a naturalized US citizen in 2018. Since 2020, he has served in the New York State Assembly and recently clinched the Democratic nomination for mayor of New York City.
