Dwayne Johnson finally hugs Jelly Roll years after his music helped him through 'hard' time

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has thanked Jelly Roll for helping him through a "very hard" time. The WWE legend turned Hollywood megastar has shared a video of the moment he finally met and hugged the Only hitmaker, whose song "moved" him around 2017 when he was "struggling" with his mental health. Alongside a video of the pair hugging and saying they loved each other, The Rock wrote: "A brotherly hug almost 10 years in the making... "Several years ago (roughly 2017) I was going through a very hard thing at the time, I was struggling. "My mental wellness turned into my mental hellness. Many of you know the drill, you put on 'the face,' show up to work, smile and get through it. "Perhaps not the healthiest thing to do, but it's what I was used to doing at the time. "Then a song came on through my headphones one morning on a random shuffle playlist. 'Only' from Jelly Roll. The lyrics rocked me. Hard core." In the emotional song, Jelly - who is also a huge WWE fan - sings: "What if the darkness inside of me has finally taken my soul?/What if the angels in heaven were sent to take me home? "Would they fight through the demons that I have in my life?/Lord, I'm believing eventually see the light." The Fast and Furious actor recalled how he was moved "so much" that he got in touch with the singer at the time, and shared how "this song of yours is helping me through some stuff I'm dealing with". and that he "just called to say thank you". He continued: "Our bond was born." When the pair finally met in person recently, Dwayne gave Jelly a gift which he admitted might seem "insignificant to the world", but would mean a lot to Jelly. He gave the singer an old postcard of the former Alamo Plaza motel in South Nashville, where Jelly is from. Dwayne explained: "When I was 15yrs I was forced (family was evicted) to leave Hawaii and make it to Nashville to live with my dad. "That didn't work out so I wound up living with a stranger in this little spot on Murfreesboro Road that has since been torn down and no longer there. "Downtown Bruno was that stranger's name and to this day, he's one of my best and most special friends. Just like Jelly. A very special friend." In the Instagram video, Jelly admitted that the postcard - which was signed by The Rock - "is real old school Nashville history". Dwayne added in the caption: "Every once in a while we all get sliced up by life, but it's amazing to see what kind of blessings and people that God and the universe will put in our lives to help us heal through our pain."

In what could come as a pleasant surprise to racing fans and petrolheads, Hollywood star Vin Diesel has confirmed that the Fast and Furious finale will hit theaters in April 2027, delivering three fan-requested elements, including the long-awaited return of street racing to the streets of Los Angeles. Diesel has been synonymous with Fast and Furious, given his role as Dominic Toretto in the series that began as a street racing movie in 2001. Another popular and much-loved face of Fast and Furious alongside Diesel was Paul Walker, who passed away in a tragic car accident in 2013. Now, Diesel has confirmed that Fast and Furious will end the long journey classically by satisfying the three wishes that fans made. While the first two are the return to Los Angeles and the revival of street racing, the last one was most surprising. Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic Speaking at 'FuelFest,' a car culture festival co-founded by Walker's brother, Cody, Diesel spoke to a large audience and opened up on the conditions he put to Universal Studios to produce the final chapter of Fast and Furious. He said: "It's been a long journey. As you all know, we have been working very hard to bring you the finale. "This culture, our franchise, is only made possible because of the love that you all have for this culture called the car culture. So I just wanted to say — first, let me just say I'm so proud of Tyrese and Cody for what they've been doing here at Fuel Fest. Give it up for them, please. "Just yesterday I was with Universal Studios — does anyone know Universal Studios? The studio said to me, 'Vin, can we please have the finale of Fast and Furious April 2027?' "I said, 'Under three conditions — under three conditions. Because I've been listening to my fan base. I have been listening to all of you who have been asking for three things. "The first is to bring the franchise back to LA. Fast and Furious is coming back to LA! "The second thing was to return to the car culture — to the street racing. "Oh, this is good. You want to know what the third thing was? Does anybody want to know what the third thing was? "The third third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O'Connor. That is what you're going to get in the finale. "Love you." Walker passed away while filming for Fast and Furious 7. The remainder of his role was completed with the help of CGI and his brothers Cody and Caleb. Similar techniques could likely be used for Fast and Furious 11.

Fast and Furious' Brian O'Conner to return in final film, Vin Diesel says

Brain O'Conner, the cop-turned-outlaw played by the late Paul Walker, will return for the final Fast and Furious movie, franchise star Vin Diesel said Saturday at the Fuel Fast event in Los Angeles. In a short speech that's made the rounds on social media, Diesel said that, when asked by Universal Studios to lock in a release date of April 20, 2027, for the Fast and Furious finale, he responded with three conditions. One was a return to Los Angeles, the second was a return to the street racing that was the focus of the first film. "The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O'Conner," Diesel said, referring to his own character Dominic Toretto. "That is what you are going to get in the finale." Walker starred opposite Diesel in the first six Fast and Furious movies before he was killed in a car crash on November 30, 2013. Filming of Furious 7 was already underway at that time, so things were changed to write O'Conner out of the franchise. That included a final scene in which Walker's brother Cody stepped in as O'Conner, with digital effects to make the switch less obvious. Cody Walker stood next to Diesel during the announcement, along with Tyrese Gibson, who plays Roman Pearce in the franchise. Diesel didn't elaborate on how the production team would accomplish his wish list, but digital effects to change an actor's appearance, including superimposing the likenesses of dead actors onto living ones, has only become more common since the release of Furious 7. So it's not difficult to imagine Brian O'Conner making his return this way. The upcoming movie will be the 11th in the main Fast and Furious storyline, not including the 2019 spinoff Hobbs & Shaw. Expected to be Called Fast X Part Two (as it picks up on the storyline from 2023's Fast X) its scheduled release date will be 26 years after the 2001 release of The Fast and the Furious. That's an impressive record for any movie franchise, and explains the eagerness to bring back Brian O'Conner for one last ride. Copyright 2025 The Arena Group, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Walker's cop-turned-street racer character was written out of the series after the actor died while in the midst of shooting Furious 7 back in 2013. His brothers completed work on the film with the help of digital technology and stunt doubles. At the end of that film, Brian and Dom take one last drive with the characters coming to a fork in the road and going their separate ways. While the rest of the Fast gang has continued to participate in worldwide heists in a bid to stop global terrorists, Brian remains in hiding, raising his and Mia's (Jordana Brewster) children. Previously, Chris Morgan, one of the key architects of the Fast & Furious franchise ever since the third instalment, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift , told Postmedia that Walker's character could return in future movies. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. ' There are no rules. Brian exists in our world and he'll always live in our world.' Morgan said back in 2017. 'There was a moment when we were doing Furious 7 after Paul had died and a lot of people were theorizing that maybe we should kill off that character. I took a really hard line with that. For me, there was no way I would ever write Brian O'Conner out of our universe. Our franchise is a very hopeful one. It's a very loving one. It's a very family one. I love, as a fan, knowing that Brian and Mia and their kids are out there and they are happy. I would never want to mess with that. As for what happens with that down the road, we've been thinking a lot about where the stories go and how we deal with them.' With Fast X billed as the first of a two-part finale, Momoa teased that ' lots of chaos' is in store for fans of the franchise. ' Some evil s*** is going to happen,' he told Postmedia in a 2024 interview. 'There's more coming.' Meanwhile, Fast X director Louis Leterrier promised Entertainment Weekly back in 2023 that the finale will be 'a sad one.' 'Y ou're going to cry. There are some tears in your future, let me tell you,' he said. mdaniell@ Read More Canada Toronto Maple Leafs Sunshine Girls Sunshine Girls Relationships
